Story
We have had Shelby since she was a pup. She came up from the south. She has just turned 6 in April. She had been our only dog until we brought a Yorkie home, around October/ 24. We figured it would take a while for her to get use to a new dog. It is now May/ 25 and she still has not excepted him. In fact, she has gone after him twice. We have to keep them separated, all of the time. Shelby has always been anxious around people and anything that is different, in her environment. She is content to lay on the couch with her favorite person sitting next to her. She is not a dog that likes to be snuggled and hugged, but wants to be near you. She walks good on a leash, lets you brush her teeth and stands still when you bathe her. She needs an experienced person to be the Alpha. We love our Shelby, but we are afraid she will hurt our Yorkie.

Story
MEET ZANDER!This tall and handsome boy is searching for a new home. Zander is only a year and a half so still has a few things to learn but is incredibly good at focusing on his handler (and their treats)! Zander can be a little nervous with new people but when he warms up he becomes a gentle giant. Zander has been a little picky about which dogs he becomes friends with here, but he could maybe live with another dog provided they have a dog meet before he goes home. Zander comes well equipped with his basic obedience cues especially `sit` and `laydown`! He enjoys toys, going on sniffy walks and he will sit next to you when its time to take a break from walking and will people watch or nature watch with you until your ready to continue walking. He is crate trained and house trained which is even more of a bonus! If he sounds like the boy for you please drop by our Dedham location to meet him!Zander is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on Zander or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.

Story
Honey is a sweet two year old Doberman/husky mix. Sadly, her mommy has a terminal illness and has reached out to us to find Honey the perfect forever home. Honey is spayed, up-to-date on all required vaccines, HW negative and micro chipped. Honey is sweet and affectionate but a little awkward. She just needs a little bit of training to become that perfect dog. Training her mom just hasn’t been up to lately. Honey has one beautiful blue eye and the most adorable ears I’ve ever seen. She weighs about 55 pounds. She would do well with older children that wouldn't be knocked over as well as a good natured doggy sibling. If you would like to give this cutie pie a place in your family while putting her current mom at ease, please email dogs4mylife@gmail.com or omlc7@hotmail.com and we will send our information and application. Story
Melanie was rescued along with her 3 pups from a woman who found her living in a drainage ditch.  She is a young adult that loves to run and play. Melanie is great with people and she has lived with other dogs but her foster family believes that she would be better off as the only dog in the house. The reason being that she can play rough with other dogs. Currently, she can go out on walk with a 40 lbs female dog without any issues but Melanie does better as the only dog because she tends to resource-guard her toys and bones. She has also lived with 3-4 months old puppies, something she neoys because of her maternal instincts but with adults, she can become alpha-like. Melanie should be adopted by a family experienced with WORKING DOGS as this girl requires lots of stimulation. She is a beautiful, big and strong girl. A high fence is necessary because this athlete can jump 5-6 feet tall fences! Melanie will make an excellent pet and companion for anyone looking for a high energy, working, and intelligent dog. She LOVES the rain! Melanie is being fostered with children age 10 and older without any issues. She can be a bit too and clumsy for children younger than 10.Ideal home: Family with experience with medium-high energy working dogs where Melanie would be the ONLY pup.   This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.)   To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   PLEASE READ:     •    If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this.     •    All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date.     •    Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments.   Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.   Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.   For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.   ##2310581##

Story
Danner is a 2 year, 3 month old handsome red boy. This smiling boy weighs approximately 55 lbs and is the sweetest, gentle but playful boy you will meet. He has one of the saddest stories. This sweet boy was on death row. He was set for euthanasia in April of 2023, as a 3-month-old puppy. An amazing person pulled him from the euthanasia list, but with no rescue backing or help, they just wanted to make sure he wasn’t euthanized. a Danner has patiently waited over a year for his forever family. He has grown up in a home he didn’t know wasn’t his forever one. He gets along great with other dogs and doesn’t even mind cats, he does NOT have a high prey drive. Danner’s favorite activities involve laying around in the house, playing with toys and being free in the yard to sunbathe or just run around and stretch out. This awesome boy is a diamond in the ruff. He is so calm but entertaining, just wants to be in your arms and get lots of pets. He will be your most loyal companion, your shadow and your best friend. Danner will follow you around everywhere he can if allowed. He is not a leader, and would do fantastic with another dog in the home to be friends with or to learn how to be a true house dog. He is mostly crate and house trained. Danner would do great with a medium active household as he loves his walks, would do great on shorter runs (he has never been on a run, but he could get the hang of it!). He would thrive on going on adventures and exploring the outdoors. He is still a puppy at heart and does need proper training and stimulation to make him the best version of himself. Danner has waited over 2 years for his home, please help us help him find it. Adoption fee includes: Spay or neuter, current negative heart worm test, current parvo/distemper vaccines, bordatella (kennel cough), rabies vaccination, flea/tick and heart worm prevention, dewormer, microchip, and a health certificate from a vet giving him a clean bill of health PRIOR to adoption. To apply to adopt Danner you can fill out an application at www.ruraltank.org
