Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sweet old Tanner and his buddy Niko have been with us since March of 2015 when their human momma suddenly passed away. Niko was a very scared boy who needed Tanner for his emotional support to survive in this scary world and we decided to keep both boys in our rescue as Niko was not adoptable.    When Niko passed away at old age of 15 at the end of 2022 Tanner was released of his noble duties to protect his friend. He looked for Niko for a few days but eventually moved on.   Tanner is 13 years old now and has paid his dues. We would love for him to find his forever home where he can be loved and cared for until his time comes. He so deserves it after all the good he has done for Niko.    Tanner is great with other dogs, people and children. He loves car rides, is fantastic on the leash and wants to spend his days hanging out on the couch or lounging outside on a chair when the weather is nice.    Please consider giving this amazing senior boy a home. If you are not ready to adopt we would love to place him in a foster home as well. But keep in mind that due to his age this would most likely be a permanent foster home. While in foster care all expenses, including medical care would be paid for.    If you are interested to learn more about Tanner please contact Silvia at silvia.bprs@gmail.com for further information. Thank you.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 25, 2024, 3:12 pm

Story
Introducing Lovely Julie Julie, a charming 7.5-month-old Doberman Pinscher mix girl, currently weighing 51 lbs as of December 23. This sweet and amiable girl is quite social, getting along famously with dogs of all sizes. While she may exhibit a bit of excitement when meeting humans-expressed through gentle jumps and showering kisses-Julie is an affectionate companion. She's fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and parasite negative, coming with a health certification, all set for her new home. Julie is particularly great with children, having proven herself as a loving companion to her foster mom's 7-year-old grandson. Potty-trained and crate-savvy, Julie occasionally requests some human time outside of her crate. With a medium energy level, Julie enjoys releasing her exuberance in the backyard, engaging in spirited zoomies and playful runs with other dogs. While she could benefit from some leash training, she doesn't pull and is easily distracted by passing people, stopping to request hugs and kisses. Julie readily gives a paw and is obedient, especially when there's a treat involved. This delightful pup thrives in the company of other dogs and would flourish in a home with pups. She's well-suited for families with children aged 7 or above, showcasing her affectionate nature as a true cuddle bug. Julie's early life was challenging; rescued from a truck yard where she was kept chained with her mom and siblings, she lacked attention and affection. Surrendered due to misguided reasons, Julie quickly overcame her initial fears and aversions to become a bundle of pure love and loyalty. If you're interested in meeting Julie, please visit our website at https://serendipityanimalrescue.org for more information and to submit an application.

ADOPTION FEE: $475 **SEE SPECIAL EVENT ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Meet our Farm Diva, Anabelle! This princess is a real character. She prefers it if we all work around her schedule. She loves her walks and does well on a leash, but you can't rush her. She likes to stop and smell the roses along the way. Anabelle finds it unacceptable when another dog yells at her from afar and she would rather not be friends with such rudeness. Anabelle is originally from Puerto Rico. Her owners left the island and didn't take Anabelle with them. She has been very sweet and social with staff but after everything she has been through, new people give her the scaries. Can you blame her? She needs a slow intro to new people as she can be easily overwhelmed by those that come on too strong. Watch out though, once she gets past her nerves, you're now besties! When she's in a quiet environment, she settles and is very affectionate. Once Anabelle gets over her nerves of meeting you for the first time, she will run circles around you with intermittent breaks meant for kisses and pets. Once she's done with the love session, she's off to do another lap in our fields. Anabelle has never had an accident in her kennel since being at the Farm. We never guarantee it but it's safe to say she's potty trained. Since being at the farm, it takes Anabelle multiple intro to warm up to other dogs. Her play style can be overwhelming so she needs some direction and supervision as she tends to get over stimulated easily due to her high energy level. We will update the profile as we do more dog introductions. KNOWN WITH DOGS: Anabelle will play with dogs but needs direction and supervision as she gets over stimulated easily. KNOWN WITH CATS: Unsure KNOWN WITH KIDS: Anabelle prefers when people around her go slow and give her a chance to get used to them. This may prove difficult for children. She also has a rough and tumble play style and might knock over a child on accident. KNOWN COMMANDS: Sit and Down, working on Place KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Anabelle will settle into her crate given a few minutes. KNOWN LIKES: Anabelle is food motivated and LOVES to run. KNOWN DISLIKES: Our little diva doesn't like being rushed. HT ADOPTION INCLUSIONS: Spay/Neuter First 3 distemper series vaccines and de-wormings Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees Current on heartworm preventative Current on flea/tick preventative EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free first exam with: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) Free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting (in DC/Arlington/Alexandria only) A portion of EVERY ADOOPTION fee supports spay/neuter for animals in under-resourced communities.
