Story
Beautiful Jolene is a 1+ year old,  50 lbs pure bred Doberman. This skinny, bony, formerly neglected girl has responded amazingly well to good food, a warm bed, love and human attention. She is good with cats, dogs and adores kind people. GREAT WITH CATS!At some point in her short life, she has had puppies and whoever early in her puppy days, had her cropped her ears with dull scissors. She has not let this affect her sweetness and good nature. What is left of her ears perk up when you come into her space. Though somewhat timid at first, her confidence and demeanor have changed dramatically the past few weeks since coming out of the small rural shelter.  Her confidence has grown nicely.  She still has puppy in her as she will steal your glove or hat and on occasion she will counter surf in search of more food. She will happily stay in a crate if you need to leave her. You can tell that she has a big open heart and is ready and willing to be a best friend when given a chance!  If you love and know the great traits of a Doberman, Beautiful Jolene won't disappoint you.  Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comFebruary 29, 2024, 8:59 am

Story
MEET SAM!   This silly and happy-go-lucky ~2yr old guy was brought in by animal control for being tied outside with no shelter or food/water. His past has not affected him one bit, and he absolutely loves life, people and other dogs.   His records say he is a Doberman mix, but we don't believe it. Because of his delicious OVERbite, we think he may be part shark! At 55 lbs, he'd fit in any pool or tub.   Sam knows 'sit,' 'down,' 'wait,' 'leave it,' and has excellent leash manners. He (mostly) comes when called and will sit until he is released at mealtime. Sam is house broken and crate trained, and he enjoys taking naps outside of his crate during the day. While Sam adores attention and affection, and he will practically swoon when you brush him, Sam can entertain himself with his chew toy.   Sam's overbite is really something else, and it just makes him so Sam! He does sometimes nibble fingers when taking treats, but he can't help it, so we give him treats on the side of his mouth instead of the front, so fingers are spared.    Sam absolutely loves other dogs and plays well and hard with both male and female dogs his size or smaller. Sam lives successfully with a dog savvy cat in his foster home. We recommend he go to a home with another dog and we know he is good with children 12 and up.    Sam’s adoption donation fee is $400, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for Sam by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions.February 27, 2024, 4:14 pm

ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Edlyn Parker edlynp@homewardtrails.org ADOPTION FEE: $475 This fee INCLUDES spay/neuter and microchip. **Ask me about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, training and other discounts! ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Meet our Farm Diva, Anabelle! This princess is a real character. She prefers it if we all work around her schedule. She loves her walks and does well on a leash, but you can't rush her. She likes to stop and smell the roses along the way. Anabelle finds it unacceptable when another dog yells at her from afar and she would rather not be friends with such rudeness. Anabelle is originally from Puerto Rico. Her owners left the island and didn't take Anabelle with them. She has been very sweet and social with staff but after everything she has been through, new people give her the scaries. Can you blame her? She needs a slow intro to new people as she can be easily overwhelmed by those that come on too strong. Watch out though, once she gets past her nerves, you're now besties! Once Anabelle gets over her nerves of meeting you for the first time, she will run circles around you with intermittent breaks meant for kisses and pets. Once she's done with the love session, she's off to do another lap in our fields. Anabelle has never had an accident in her kennel since being at the Farm. We never guarantee it but it's safe to say she's potty trained. Since being at the farm, we haven't tested her with other dogs yet. The Adoption Center stated that her play style can be overwhelming so she will need some direction and supervision when the other dog needs to take a break. We will update the profile once we do more dog introductions. KNOWN WITH DOGS: Anabelle will play with dogs but needs direction and supervision as she may need help taking a break when the other dog is done playing. KNOWN WITH CATS: Unsure KNOWN WITH KIDS: Anabelle prefers when people around her go slow and give her a chance to get used to them. This may prove difficult for children. She also has a rough and tumble play style and might knock over a child on accident. KNOWN COMMANDS: Sit and Down KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Anabelle will settle into her crate given a few minutes. KNOWN LIKES: Anabelle is food motivated and LOVES to run. KNOWN DISLIKES: Our little diva doesn't like being rushed. HT ADOPTION INCLUSIONS: Spay/Neuter First 3 distemper series vaccines and de-wormings Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees Current on heartworm preventative Current on flea/tick preventative EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free first exam with: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) Free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting (in DC/Arlington/Alexandria only) A portion of EVERY ADOOPTION fee supports spay/neuter for animals in under-resourced communities. Story
Max is a 74lb, 3 year old, black and rust, natural eared, docked, doberboy. Max is a super sweet, fun loving, goofy dobie who loves to be with his people and will follow you everywhere in the house. He's met many different humans and has loved everyone and was a very good boy at his vet appointment where he charmed all of the employees. Max is house trained, will sleep in an ex pen while we are away, and sleep all night on a dog bed in our room. If you're looking for a dog that enjoys play time but can also amuse himself or settle nicely, this boy is your dobie. He loves to be petted and rubbed and will use his paw to pull your hand to him. In his previous home, he lived with several other medium/large dogs and played with them. They did have a cat, but he liked to chase them. He will need quite a bit of work on his leash manners. Max knows sit and we are working on down and stay and wait. He rides well in the car and once the car is in motion will settle down nicely. This boy is a complete love with his humans and settled in to our routine quickly without much fuss. Max is so happy to see his friends get adopted, but is wondering when his time will come. Can you be his forever family? Max is located in Maryland. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.

Story
Meet Coco! She is a sweet, 9-year-old Blue Doberman. She loves to be anywhere and everywhere that you are! Coco is a healthy girl who weighs about 66 pounds and has a docked tail and natural ears. Coco also has a beautiful full coat of fur. Coco is house trained. She is not a fan of being crated so I have left her with run of the house when I am not home without incident. Coco will whine when I am gone so she would be happiest in a home where someone is around most of the time. Coco enjoys using her nose to explore our yard and loves taking walks in our woods and down our road. Coco may jump around and pull on the leash if she sees a cat or other small animal. Coco gets excited when she sees deer. She also loves to relax and lay in the sun when outside! https://youtu.be/Zcscqwxr1EE?si=Lvbu2x4QHIopaVKA Coco enjoys nibbling on a couple of her favorite plush toys and will usually have one or two with her most of the time. She does like to sleep in our bed, but she tends to stay in her spot and isn’t a bed hog. She also likes to lay next to you on the couch. Coco likes meeting new people, including children, and enjoys getting the extra attention from them. Coco is dog reactive and will need a home without other dogs. Coco is not good with cats. Coco loves to take car rides and will keep watch out the windows for most of the ride. Coco goes with me to my office most mornings. We usually do not see any of my coworkers, but when we do, she enjoys meeting them. Coco is a well-mannered girl who allows me to Dremel her nails, bathe her, and wipe her feet when wet before coming inside the house. If you’re looking for an older, calmer Doberman than Coco would be a great companion for you. She is currently located in Virginia. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.
