Meet Crystal. What do you see when you look at Crystal? A dog that had a horrible person chop off her ears? A dog that was left inside a crate at an abandoned property? You know what we see? Unconditional love! Once she gets to know you, this girl wants affection and love so badly. She loves belly rugs and snuggles. To us, she is beautiful both inside and out. You will see that too when you come meet her and give her a chance. Crystal goes home with a volunteer on a regular basis and she is a super easy house guest. She is deaf, so she doesn't bark and she sleeps most of the time. She loves car rides and is the perfect dog to run errands with. She also loves walks but the summer heat is starting to affect her so they have to be cut shorter than in the winter months. Despite the heat, she still loves sunbathing. Crystal is not fond of other dogs. She can go for walks with them but not exist together in a house or come face to face. She is obsessed with cats so if you are interested in her, you can't have any of those either. Crystal has cancer (cutaneous hemangiosarcoma). It manifests itself with sores and blood blisters on her stomach and these will pop occasionally and bleed. Eventually the disease will go to her spleen. Her survival can be a few years with this type of cancer by the time it has spread to the spleen. She has had the cancer for many years and has had blood blisters removed twice, but it has still not spread to her spleen and her most recent blood work was excellent. With a heavy heart, I’m looking for a forever home for Bella, a 1-year-old Dogo Argentino I rescued as a puppy. She’s incredibly loving, deeply affectionate, and happiest when she's close to her person—she’ll follow you around, whine for attention, and climb into your lap despite being nearly 100 lbs. She’s crate- and potty-trained, knows basic commands, is spayed, and up-to-date on all vaccines. I already had an older Dogo who I adore, and though I hoped they’d coexist, their relationship has turned dangerous. Despite every effort—training, supervision, love—they’ve had several serious fights. It’s no longer safe for either of them, and it breaks my heart. Bella needs to be the only pet in a home where she can truly thrive. She’s loyal, protective, and would give her whole heart to someone who gives her a chance. Well, hello there, potential new family! My name’s Winston, but you can call me “Your Royal Highness” – or, you know, just Winston works too. I may be a senior at 8 years young, but don't let that fool ya—I’ve still got a lot of pep in these paws! Now, I’ve been through a few ups and downs in my life, including this thing called heartworm. I don’t recommend it, but hey, I’m a survivor! And if that doesn’t make me deserving of being treated like a prince, I don’t know what will. Today I am doing great and that is all that matters! I was a shy and scared pup when I first came to the rescue in 2018, but I’ve learned the ropes. Yep, I know how to dog now! I love playing with my canine pals—especially when there’s water involved. Got a pool? Awesome. Got mud? Even better! I mean, who doesn’t love a good splash and a little mess, right? I’m also a world-class snuggler. Seriously, I could win medals. Couch time is my time, and if you need some good ol' fashioned doggy kisses or hugs, I’m your guy. Personal space? Not sure what that is. I prefer to be right up next to you. All the time. I’ve heard some humans need "alone time," but that’s just silly—right? If you’ve got other dogs, great! I love making new friends. Cats? Sure, I can hang with them too. I’m pretty easygoing like that. What I really need, though, is a nice big yard to roam around in, maybe bring my pool with me, and a home where I can be treated like the royalty I am. Story
Hi, I'm Eloy, a big 92 lb. double pirate Dogo Argentino currently chilling in Tampa, FL with a heart full of love and some rough patches behind me. Mid-October, I was rescued from the countryside around Ft. Meade, FL, after a kind family found me wandering and took me in to make sure I was safe. I wasn’t in great shape—I could barely open my eyes because they hurt so much. Turns out, I had bilateral entropion, which meant my eyelids were causing me pain and damage. It got so bad I didn’t feel like eating. Thankfully, the vet rushed me in for surgery, and I’m already feeling so much better. I also found out I have heartworms, which wasn’t a surprise, but the good news is I’ve already started my treatment. It’ll be a few months of taking it easy, but I’m already on the road to recovery. Now that I’m safe and more comfortable at the farm kennels, my personality is starting to show. I’m around 5 to 6 years old, quick to learn, and I’m definitely a big fan of affection! Scratch my ears, rub my belly, and I’m a happy guy. I just started giving out kisses and showing off my big bear hugs, too! So far, I’ve been pretty calm around the other dogs at the kennel. I’m not looking for trouble like some do and, honestly, just taking my time getting used to everything while my body heals. My vision’s still a bit blurry, but it seems to be improving every day. I love my walks, mealtimes, and treats—and I keep my kennel neat and clean (unlike some of the other pups here, if you know what I mean). I’m expected to fully recover from my eye surgery and beat the heartworms, too, thanks to early treatment. Just six days after surgery, I’ve already got great energy! For the next few months, I need to keep it low-key as I heal, so I’d love a calm home where I can chill, go on walks, and explore a little. The team here thinks I might have been a hunter before because I perk up when I catch a whiff of wild boar! But mostly, I’m just your typical awesome Dogo Argentino looking for a place to call home. **Hey There! I'm Liza: Your Future Comedic Companion!**  Also, I am the DC Dogos Rescue COVER MODEL for our 2025 Calendar! I will do autographs by request :) Hi, I’m Liza, and let me tell you, I’m one hilarious, young, and healthy gal! At just about a year old, currently in sunny Tampa, FL, I’m bursting with playful energy and, well, still learning my manners. But hey, who needs manners when you’re this cute? I’ve already mastered the art of giving you my paw for hotdogs or other tasty treats. I’m working on meeting new friends and, oh boy, am I smitten with Simon! He’s just as wild and fun as I am. My humans are helping me socialize with other dogs, and they think I’ll do great. They recently gave me this weird ball that makes noises – I kicked it around like a soccer pro! My zoomies, especially in the mornings, are a sight to behold. I’ll run straight at you and then punk you out at the last second! I’m super fast, so a yard would be perfect for me to stretch my legs. I need an active home that’s ready to keep up with my energy and help me with my training. I love going on leash walks now – I used to be like a fish out of water, but now I’m a dream to walk! My current humans think I’d be awesome at agility work. I’m athletic and would thrive with someone dedicated to my training. I’ve come a long way since they found me, and a dog friend would be great for me too. I have so much fun with Simon, and I’m sure I’d love another buddy just as much. When I first met men, I wasn’t a fan, but with some training and patience, I’ve started giving them kisses! That was a huge step for me, and I keep hitting new milestones every day. I’m pretty incredible, if I do say so myself. I was one of five dogs found dumped in Naples, FL, and the shelter picked us all up. We don’t know if we were from the same person or related, but I’m so grateful to have a second chance at life. My past is behind me, and I’m ready to start a new chapter with a loving family.
