🐾 Meet Zara — A Gentle Heart Looking for a Fresh Start! ❤️
Sweet • Affectionate • Loyal • Foster-to-Adopt Eligible
Zara is a beautiful 5-year-old, 75-pound brindle Dogo Argentino looking for a loving home where she can finally relax and feel secure.
Life at the shelter has been stressful for this sweet girl, but take her out for an adventure and you'll see a different side of Zara! Away from the busy shelter environment, she's a gentle, affectionate companion who loves spending time with people.
💕 What Makes Zara Special?
Zara has so much to offer her future family!
• Loves people and has done wonderfully with children
• Fully housetrained and crate trained
• Walks pretty well on leash
• Enjoys her toys and spending time with her people
• Shows her sweet, relaxed personality when away from the shelter
🏡 Finding Zara's Perfect Match
Zara has experienced some difficult encounters with other animals, so she'll need a patient, understanding family who can help her feel safe.
After being attacked by another dog in her own yard, Zara developed some leash reactivity toward other dogs. However, her previous owner reports that she can enjoy playing with canine companions once she's had time to get comfortable.
Zara also lived successfully with a cat for much of her life, although she showed reactivity toward a cat during a recent temporary foster stay. Because of these mixed experiences, introductions to other animals would need to be especially slow and carefully managed.
A home where Zara can be the only pet may be the easiest fit, but a carefully considered placement with other animals isn't necessarily out of the question.
Most importantly, Zara needs someone who understands that adjusting to a new home takes time. With patience, consistency, and a chance to decompress, she'll have the opportunity to show the loving companion she can be.
She isn't asking for much—just a safe place to call home, people who love her, and the chance to leave the stress of shelter life behind.
✨ FOSTER-TO-ADOPT AVAILABLE!
Zara is eligible for Melissa's Second Chances' Foster-to-Adopt program, giving you an opportunity to see whether your home is the right match before making a permanent commitment.
Could you be the fresh start Zara has been waiting for? ❤️
