Story
Hubbell is a wonderful dog. He's 6.5 and about as chill as can be. I had him for about 2 days before my landlord informed me she is selling our house, and we have had to make the unfortunate decision to re-home him. I didn't want him back at the shelter so we still have him, but we are also still getting to know him! Hubbell loves everyone he meets. He really just wants to snuggle. He's gentle taking treats and has been good around small children so far. He does okay on a leash, and would improve with a little training. Currently, his walks are short as he is being treated for heartworm. He has about 3 months left of his monthly treatment, and I have meds to send with him. He also does well in his kennel and I have a kennel, a bed, a leash and harness to donate, as well as any food or treats I have left. We haven't tested him with other dogs. The shelter said he was shy in play groups, and on walks he seems to want to play. Unsure of cats.

Story
Pet Location: Wayside Waifs CampusMy Friends at Wayside say: - I`m a sweet and gentle girl who would love a couch to snooze on!- I have successfully lived with cats in my previous home. - My previous owner said that I am house-trained and crate-trained.- I already know some basic commands!- I have displayed some touch sensitivities. Ask our staff for more info!- I am eligible for a Slumber Pawty, a 7-10 day in-home trial period. Please visit our website for additional information. My home needs are: - I must meet other dogs in the home before adoption to ensure that we can be buddies. Please arrive at the shelter before 4pm on our open adoption days so we can meet!- I need a home with kids 6 years old and older since I tend to be nervous around new people and loud noises. - If you have kids in the home 9 years old and younger, I will need to meet them since I can be nervous around new people and loud noises. - New people and things make me a little nervous. Wayside recommends that I have a low traffic home.Hi, I’m Beth!I’m a shy girl who needs a little extra patience and understanding while I get comfortable in a new home. I’m smart and food-motivated, and I already know some basic commands, which makes learning new things fun for me! I can be a bit sensitive to touch, so it’s best to ask the staff for more details on how to make me feel safe and happy. My previous owner told the staff that I’m both house-trained and crate-trained, so I already know some important ways to live in a home.I do best in a calm environment, because new people, loud noises, and new things can make me nervous. I would love a home where I can take things at my own pace and feel safe exploring at my own comfort level. I’m also very interested in making friends with other dogs, so it’s important to meet any furry family members before adoption. If there are kids in the home 9 and under, I’ll need to meet them first too, since I can get nervous around new people and busy activity. If you have a low-traffic home and are willing to go slow with me, I’ll reward you with loyalty, love, and a little sweetness that grows every day. I’m ready to find someone who understands me, gives me confidence, and lets me bloom into the best version of myself. With patience, treats, and gentle guidance, I know I can be a happy, loving companion for the right person... Could that be you?Love, Beth

Story
Meet Freya Freya is an 6-month-old female Boxer/Pit mix puppy who is smart, playful, and full of potential. She does well with other dogs and would thrive in a home with older children who can respect puppy boundaries. Freya is very intelligent and eager to learn, and she’ll do best with an adopter ready to continue training. She would benefit from a secure yard with a tall, solid (non–chain link) fence so she can safely burn off energy and explore. Freya has already had bilateral cherry eye surgery and is doing well, with no special care needed beyond routine vet care. She’s a bright, loving pup ready to grow into an amazing companion with the right family. **Freya has poultry sensitivity and will need to be on a lamb, beef, or salmon based food*** If you are interested in meeting Freya, please fill out an application via our website at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/TRP/Dog and we will get back to you via email once your application has been reviewed. If you have further questions please feel free to reach out to us at adoptionstrp@gmail.com. Freya's adoption fee is $250 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, spay, microchip, deworm, and cherry eye surgery on both eyes.

Story
Meet Fletch! This brindle cutie is a master of the happy butt-wiggle. Fletch is playful, goofy, and smart, but also knows the art of cuddling. He’s housebroken, crate trained, and does great on a leash—walks are his jam! Fletch loves people and will be happiest as your one-and-only pup, though he might do fine with a calm doggy friend. He’s an affectionate, mostly quiet guy who’s just as happy chasing toys as he is snuggling on the couch. A fenced yard and daily exercise will keep him at his best. Fletch has had some tough times, but he’s grateful for every good thing—and he’s ready for his forever people to come along. 📍 Kansas City metro (transport available!) 📞 Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387

Story
Hi! My name’s Houston. I'm a four-year-old boxer mix boy and kind of a beefcake at around 80 pounds. (I'd argue that it's all muscle, too.) One of the things I want most in a forever home is a human friend to hang out with, not doing anything in particular, just a couple pals spending time together. Wouldn't that be amazing? I'm a little shy at first, but if you'll give me a few minutes to get to know you, we'll be besties. And I promise to be your snuggle pup! Really, though, I’m way too smart to laze around 24/7. I know sit, down, stay, high five, orbit, between, and wait. Learning tricks is one of my favorite activities and I can pick up new ones in just a day or two. I love to run outside and play in water from the hose. In case I wasn't clear enough on that, I LOVE PLAYING IN THE WATER!!!. My favorite game of all is tug of war. (I'll even let you win sometimes!) I’m kennel trained, house trained, and am good at being left alone. In fact, I do some of my best snoozing in my crate while I wait patiently for you to come home. I’d do best in a home with older children because I’m still learning how to contain all my excitement around the little ones. Since I've been looking for a home for a while, I think I'd prefer to be the only doggo so I don't have to share. I’ve got so much love to share and I absolutely cannot wait to meet you! You'll get to see my cute little nub of a tail wag and wag when I'm happy and that will make YOU happy, too! Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 to find out more about me! I'm in the Kansas City metro, but my human friends will transport me to the right home. #thepetconnection #BoxerMix #AdoptDontShop #RescueDog #DogsofKC #SmartPup #PlayfulPup #ForeverHomeNeeded #KCAdopt #DogLovers #pawsitivetailskc

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
I sure wish I had some great story to tell you about my past life. You know&#44 a story where Im the hero&#44 and I rescued my family from a burning building; or&#44 I pulled the sled team alongside Balto&#44 and we raced across the Alaskan tundra getting life saving medicine to sick children. Alas&#44 I cant tell you those stories because I think I just made them up.

No&#44 I was actually adopted from Great Plains four years ago&#44 and once I went home&#44 well&#44 I lost touch with my friends here. Fast forward to today&#44 and I came into the shelter again because my family moved away and deserted me at our house. I know for a fact it wasnt me or anything I said or did. I think they just didnt want the responsibility of a dog any longer so they abandoned me. Im over it&#44 and I hold no grudges against humans because of them. I know that I need to open my heart to a new family&#44 trust them&#44 and that maybe this time - THIS TIME - they will love me and care for me until the end of my days. I want to be a member of a family and do my part to care and support and love all of those in it.

I lucked out and have had the privilege of living in a foster home with a wonderful couple. They are so good to me&#44 and in return&#44 I have been nothing but a very good dog. I stick to my Foster Mom (FM) like a little bit of velcro. We have kissing sessions in the morning&#44 belly rubs mid-morning&#44 and a wonderful walk around the neighborhood whenever we want. My Foster Dad missed having a dog in the house&#44 so they decided that fostering would be the way to go. He and FM say that&#44 and I quote&#44 Kermit is the best foster dog we have ever had. I am perfect in the home&#44 I am as sweet and loving as they come&#44 and I even get to sleep in bed with them sometimes. They have a four-foot fence&#44 and I dont try to jump it or anything. What kind of dumbo would you have to be to jump a fence and leave this home and family? I love them with all my heart.

Im a calmer guy now than when I was at the shelter previously&#44 more relaxed and mellow than before. Ive maybe gotten over some of my fears&#44 and Ive learned that love is the most important thing in life. Love and smelling the roses on a daily basis. Oh and eating bonbons with someone you love on the couch watching a rom-com. I prefer affection and attention from my human(s) above all else. I want a home where I can hang my hat&#44 climb into my bed&#44 and drift off to sleep knowing that I have a safe and loving haven in which to live. Yes&#44 Ive reached my senior years. And they are years to be enjoyed and savored - like a good book or fine wine. Honestly&#44 I liken myself to a vintage bottle of Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. We both have a smooth&#44 velvety texture&#44 we age gracefully over time&#44 even improving as the years go by. Could you ask for anything more in a dog?

I hope that you are my person. I hope that you are reading about me and want to meet me. I so want my chance at a happily ever after.

Love from Kermit (aka Kirby)

Featuring photos by Krystle-Lee Photography
