Hello, my name is Rusty, and Im a 3-year-old Boxer mix looking for a forever family to call my own. Before we get started, I know what youre thinking about my picture. I might look a little intimidating, but I promise theres a perfectly good explanation! When I was found, I had a condition called cherry eye that made me look a bit unusual. The good news is that the vet has already fixed me right up, and now Im feeling so much better. Underneath it all, Ive always been a sweet, gentle guy. I can be a little timid when meeting new people. The world hasnt always made sense to me, and Im still learning that people are friends. Because of that, I may need a little time and patience when we first meet. But if you give me the chance, youll discover that Im one of the sweetest dogs around. Once I start to feel safe and comfortable, my loving personality really shines through. Im hoping to find a family that will help me continue building my confidence and show me just how wonderful life can be. Kind words, gentle encouragement, and plenty of love go a long way with a sensitive guy like me. If there are kids in the home, Id love to meet them before heading home with you. I want to make sure were all a great match and can start our new life together on the right paw. What Im really looking for is a place where I can finally relax, feel secure, and be part of a family that loves me for exactly who I am. Hubbell is a wonderful dog. He's 6.5 and about as chill as can be. I had him for about 2 days before my landlord informed me she is selling our house, and we have had to make the unfortunate decision to re-home him. I didn't want him back at the shelter so we still have him, but we are also still getting to know him! Hubbell loves everyone he meets. He really just wants to snuggle. He's gentle taking treats and has been good around small children so far. He does okay on a leash, and would improve with a little training. Currently, his walks are short as he is being treated for heartworm. He has about 3 months left of his monthly treatment, and I have meds to send with him. He also does well in his kennel and I have a kennel, a bed, a leash and harness to donate, as well as any food or treats I have left. We haven't tested him with other dogs. The shelter said he was shy in play groups, and on walks he seems to want to play. Unsure of cats.
