Story
Hi, I’m Angelique.  My 3 littermates and I were rescued from the street in Seal Beach when we were about 2 months old.  We were all very scared as we hadn’t been around people before. At first, we were considered feral, but we were sent to a foster home and calmed down quite a bit.  My foster home had other kittens, big cats, and dogs. I loved the big cats and was fine with the kittens but the dogs scared me. I don't welcome pets or being picked up. I am a shy girl and get scared easily so I need a quiet forever home with another cat or kitten and a family who has lots of patience and will give me plenty of time to adjust to a new environment. Story
Hi, I’m Annie. I was rescued from the Seal Beach Jetty along with my friend Mercedes way back in 2015.  We both went to a foster home for a couple of months and slowly learned to trust humans. Then we came back to  SBACC and after a while, we were both adopted by a volunteer.  Sadly, Mercedes crossed over the Rainbow Bridge a while ago and I lost my home because my adopter couldn't interact with me.  I am very shy and don't allow petting or handling. I'm comfortable here and wouldn’t mind living out my senior years where I'm loved and cared for by a wonderful team of volunteers and staff.  Maybe if the right person came along, I could adjust to a new home, but after all this time at SBACC, it feels like home.May 1, 2024, 7:29 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Jiji. I originally came to SBACC as a two-month-old kitten and was adopted about two months later.  My adopters were a young couple with one other cat.  The other cat and I were OK together but never became buddies.  Then a new baby arrived and it just didn’t go well.  My Mom and Dad tried hard to make it work but finally decided to bring me back to SBACC. I was really scared and very unhappy and had a hard time trusting new people but I’m finally starting to adjust.  I’m a big fluffy girl with soft black fur and a white triangle on my chest. I’m sassy and smart and can be lovable once I get to know you. I enjoy being petted and brushed if you do it very gently.  My favorites are neck, cheek, and chest scratches.  I like when people talk to me softly or even when they sing. Sometimes I will talk back. I’m a big girl but I have a tiny little meow.  I enjoy the laser and other toys.  I think I would do best in a quiet home without any little children. Story
POPCORN IS AVAILABLE AS A PERMANENT FOSTER - ALL COSTS PAID BY AALOC Popcorn, a beautiful, female, long-haired cat, was surrendered several years ago by a female truck driver of some notoriety: her previous owner purchased a painting at a garage sale for $5.00 and it is thought to be an original Jackson Pollock. Even with her interesting history, unfortunately Popcorn has never been adopted and now she has lymphoma. She desperately needs a quiet home and someone special to love her. Popcorn is a bit shy but she is very gentle. She used to have very long fur and a big fluffy tail. If you think of the color of a Dreamsicle - a creamy, dreamy orange - you almost envision the color of Popcorn's coat. Popcorn recently started over grooming causing her to vomit so her luxurious coat has been shaved and she now looks like a little lion. Keeping her fur short is important for her health so she will need regular grooming. Popcorn will also need maintenance medication and regular vet visits to keep her in her best shape. As a permanent foster you would be responsible for loving and caring for Popcorn, taking her to her vet appointments and making sure she receives her medications and is comfortable. AALOC would pay for all of Popcorn's vet visits, grooming, food and medications. We also need a medical sponsor to help pay for Popcorn's veterinarian care. To donate to Popcorn's medical expenses and medication, please visit www.AALOC.org/donate, or for additional information regarding becoming Popcorn's medical sponsor email us at AALOC@AALOC.org. Please submit an application to foster Popcorn. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Popcorn and get to know her a bit. For more information on fostering visit our website at www.aaloc.org. Contact us by e-mail at aaloc@aaloc.org, or by phone at (714) 893-4393.

Story
Bay, a lovely female cat, was brought to AALOC by a woman who found her in her front yard. The cat was not able to use her left side at all and could not get up. We took her in and to the vet/neurologist where she had a CT scan.  It showed trauma to her neck, which fortunately with extensive rest heals. We are happy to say that she is now able to walk. Bay is very shy and needs a quiet home. She does warm up after a bit and loves to be brushed. We hope someone will see this and give her a home where she will be safe, well fed and loved. Please submit an application to adopt Bay at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Bay and get to know her a bit. Donation of $100 for cat adoption includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a microchip. Applications require a veterinary reference and home visit. We adopt to residents of Orange County, CA and surrounding areas. Please note: For families with children, we require children to be 10 years of age or older, although exceptions are made depending on the circumstances. For more information on adoption policies visit our cat adoption page at www.aaloc.org. Contact us by e-mail at aaloc@aaloc.org

Story
A long-time donor of AALOC reached out to ask if we could help her. Her neighbor is a maintenance worker who had previously rescued a kitten. Unfortunately his company was relocating this kind man to Los Angeles the next day and he couldn’t take his cat Sierra with him. He was in tears, concerned about the well-being of Sierra and her future. Because our humane center was already full, the donor even offered to pay for Sierra’s boarding so we took this beautiful cat under our care. Sierra is female, long-haired, black and white tuxedo cat. She is super sweet and enjoys human attention and interaction. One thing to consider: although Sierra’s long fur truly enhances her striking appearance, it will require regular grooming to keep Sierra’s fur in tip-top shape and free from snarls. Please apply to adopt Sierra at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Sierra and get to know her a bit. Story
Mickiey is a beautiful and friendly Maine Coon mix. Mickey is being adopted through the San Gabriel Valley Animal Advocates. If you are interested in adopting Mickey, please submit an adoption application at http://www.sgvaa.org and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Your adoption donation allows us to rescue the next kitty from the streets and pay for all their health and medical needs. Most of our adoptable pets live in loving foster homes. We can arrange meet-and-greets with our foster families, at our live-in habitats in the West Covina and El Monte Petcos, as well as at the Huntington Beach (Edinger) PetSmart. SGVAA is an all-volunteer, non-profit rescue organization serving the San Gabriel Valley area. For more information on how you can help your community, please visit: www.sgvaa.org Their Adoption Process If you are interested in any of our adoptable pets or have additional questions, please fill out an adoption application and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Since we are an all-volunteer organization, it may take us within 24-48 hours to respond. Our little fur babies are so adorable that sometimes we get multiple applications for one pet! So if the pet you are interested in is no longer available there is no need to worry! We have plenty of friends who are furry! As part of the adoption process, we screen each new potential owner, and do home visits to ensure that an animal and owner are a good match. Once your adoption application has been approved, we will have you fill out a Pet Promise Certificate (adoption contract) *SGVAA’s adoption donation allows us to rescue the next kitty from the streets and pay for all of their health and welfare needs (spay, neuter, shots, deworming, flea meds, microchip) *We also provide free home delivery of your new kitty/kitties! About This Rescue SGVAA is dedicated to the protection and humane treatment of pets in the San Gabriel Valley area. We encourage people to rescue a homeless animal instead of buying one. Our organization also educates the community on the importance of early vaccinations for fatal and easily preventable diseases. We also advocate spaying or neutering to reduce pet overpopulation. Once an animal is in our care we vaccinate all rescues against disease & provide needed health care, fight pet overpopulation by spaying or neutering all rescues, and provide lifetime shelter and care to any rescued animal that is not adopted. Come Meet Their Pets Most of our adoptable pets live in loving foster homes. For interested adopters, we can arrange meet-and-greets with our foster families, at our live-in habitats in the West Covina and El Monte Petcos, as well as at the Huntington Beach (Edinger) Petsmart. We also post pictures of our adorable kitties at sgvaa.org, our Facebook page and on Instagram!
