Story
A Wonderful cat family!I'M THE MOM: I’m Bella and a beautiful female with sable coloring with longer fur.  I’m not a big cat, my fur actually makes me look bigger, but I have the “biggest” purr of them all. I love brushing and petting and I’ll follow you around for more loving.  I like to play chase with my kittens and zooming around the round is really lots of fun.  I’m looking for a home that would be “forever” that I can lay next to you and purr or we can play with the toys.  I’m just happy to be safe and be indoors with you. RESCUE STORY: I started out with my family, but they moved and left me behind. I was all alone outside except when “the boys” came around…. and you know what that means!  The very nice neighbor was 90 years old and she took me in and took good care of me, but she passed away 3 days after my kittens were born and then her son fed me. The house was going to be sold and me and my gorgeous kittens had to move. Me and my family were rescued by Community Animal Network and we are all safe in a foster home! HERE ARE MY KITTENS   I'M THE KITTEN JAVA and my black fur is really soft like a bunny and shiny, too. I am more reserved than my siblings that are really outgoing and hogged all the attention and so I started out very shy.  But now, I’ve come out of my shell and I follow right behind my sister to say “Hi”!  I love to play with all the toys – running and practicing my “prey skills’ from one side of the room to the other.  I really enjoy running and sliding on the wood flooring.  When I’m not playing by myself or with Dolly, I’m cuddling with my Mom Bella or my sister Dolly.  I like to be held and cuddled.  I’m sure when you meet me, you will never want to put me down. I'M THE KITTEN DOLLY: I’m Dolly and honestly, I am everyone’s favorite and they tell me that they love me. I’m a big hit on the Zoom calls and everyone loves my black and white pattern and black mustache and is talking about me! But I’m not just a great looking Kitten.  I have a lot of personality.  I’m always the first to run up and say “Hi” and I like to explore, have my belly rubbed and play with my sister who is another fun-loving kitten! She and I lay on top of the cat tree and hang over the edge and snooze.  I love to play with my sister Java who is another fun-loving kitten. But I also chase my tail when I get tired of playing with my toys. I’m just right for a really fastidious person because I like to have a clean box. I’ll be your best friend always and if you rub my tummy I will adore you!    October 29, 2024, 7:02 am

Story
Percy is an energetic gray medium-haired cat who has made himself at home in his foster home. He's highly playful and engages with every toy he encounters, from wand toys to crinkle balls. He particularly enjoyed playing with his brothers, until they got adopted. Between play sessions, Percy is affectionate and calm. He regularly curled up with his brothers, and seeks attention from humans. Bonus - he is also super soft! Percy would do well in an active household with another playful cat. He needs an environment that can accommodate both his active playtime and his quieter moments.

Story
In Waiting, Just For You!Animal lovers can’t imagine abandoning or neglecting a pet, but it happens all the time. Thanks to a neighbor that shared Nefertiti’s abandonment story she was trapped and rescued from the neighborhood after 9 months living on the street.   According to the neighbor, Nefertiti was loved and had a stable home until her life changed when her owner passed away. The daughter neglected to take Nefertiti and left her to fend for herself. Nefertiti has a Siamese Maine Coon-Look. Here is some information about the breed mix: https://www.catster.com/cat-breeds/siamese-maine-coon-mix/ Nefertiti LOVES to open drawers and doors. She has a drawer that she likes to open and then crawls BEHIND the draw. It is very cute, but it is also hard to find her if she inside the drawer. Nefertiti is such a pretty cat. Having long hair means that she needs brushing, and she likes it but doesn't like de-shedding combs. You may want to invest some funds in regular grooming, or know that she can become overstimulated and usually shows body language warning that she may nip to let you she’s had enough. If she becomes matted, she will need to be sedated at the vet to be shaved. She looks really cute in a “lion's cut”. One of her very cute and quirky things is making a tent out of a blanket and she gets inside to snuggle up. She will ask for petting and likes being close, but she’s not a lap cat. She’ll only walk around in your lap to be petted and is not interested in sitting down to lounge. There is one bad habit she has that is very cute! She politely sits next to the table when you’re eating at looks up at you and stares like a dog wanting a treat. She never jumps up on the table or tries to take food, but is intensely interested.   Nefertiti has lived with other cats in the “rescue house” before she was fostered. However, after living in her foster home she’s enjoying all of the attention! She just looks out the window at cats outside.   She has NOT been around children. We thing an adult home is best because she can be startled by loud noises, or get anxious if there is a disruption in her environment when workman come in. Nefertiti enjoys kick toys with catnip in them. She throws them around the house.  Being alone while you work isn’t an issue for her as she enjoys her alone time, but she’s happy to see you come home after work. If there is a guest that visits, she will initially hide, but warms up to the guests if the house is quiet. It took her about a week to adjust and start interacting in her foster home and was fully settled in in about two weeks. Nefertiti would do well with mature owners that can let her have her own space. She understands the word, “No” if she jumps up on the counter.  If you have interest in Nefertiti, email: networkfounder@gmail.com and tell us a little about yourself, your family, or other people and pets in the home. If you've had pets before tell us about them and where they are now. You can also text 949-759-3646.  There is a 2-hour pet parenting consultation that is part of every adoption. You can learn how to introduce your new pet to existing pets, learn how to teach house manners and learn how to make cats happy and command train your pet and how to encourage your cat to be more affectionate.  The most expensive costs associated with pet ownership is the veterinary expenses. In the feline consultation you will learn the symptoms of diseases, too. It can save the life of your pet and save your bank account, too! The microchip registration is included in the placement fee and the animals come with a 30 day heath commitment and return policy. Our network promotes adopting kittens in pairs and makes available a four month payment plan. Our animals live in private homes with people that love them. We specialize in “pet-quality”, friendly, sociable cats and kittens and represent “Good Samaritans” in re-homing lost pets whose owners could not be found and private parties whose pets need new homes.  The founder of Animal Network of Orange County, DiAnna Pfaff-Martin, is very particular about the quality of the animals, vitamins, proper diet and veterinary medical care. Feral kittens are tamed to “pet quality” and rescue cats that are shy are disclosed and termed, “rescue quality” with a lower placement fee.  Most kittens in O.C. these days are born feral (wild without human touch since birth). Feral kittens left untamed can grow up and be skittish and hide. These kitties can be a challenge to get to the vet or even to touch for anyone besides their caregiver. People who have adopted feral kittens often describe their behavior as jumpy and maybe having been abused.  It’s what the organization does with the animals after they have been trapped and rescued from the outdoors that makes the difference in a quality animal. People believe that adopting the smallest kitten means they can raise the perfect animal. This is simply not true as most people are gone from the home for long hours and are not experts in the field of taming wild animals.  Adopting an adult animal that has been well-loved and has known behaviors and a personality that the caregiver can tell you about is what all should consider. Almost anyone would add a cute kitten into their home, yet 90% of adult cats- and even kittens older than 4 months- entering the municipal shelter systems are put to death because people are seeking the tiny ones.    November 15, 2024, 6:15 am

Story
Independent & Exhibits Behaviors of Petting AggressionTallulah Gin aka Lula has enchanting vibrant green eyes. She is playful with interactive toys like the feather wand and she likes plastic lizard toys or wadded up paper balls. She likes comfy sofas and chairs and is a pretty lounge lizard. She is very furry and long hair and has unusual coloring with charcoal / black long hair and yet with slight calico markings. She is professionally groomed every month or she would become matted and will need a sanitary clip on her behind. She is a gorgeous cat and many people inquire without fully reading her bio here, which discloses her reactive behavior that can be managed. Tallulah Gin isn't at risk of losing her home. Her family are responsible pet owners and she will continue living in the home where she was raised until a home that would love her and accept her idiosyncrasies can be found.   The Backstory: Tallulah Gin's owners are responsible pet owners who simply wish they had an affectionate cat that wanted to be part of the family. Yet, quite the opposite is Lula with a spirit of independence that can be intermittently reactive to touch and scratch. The grandkids are afraid of Lula because she will go after them. Their desire to have a kitty that would be affectionate part of the family led the couple to adopt a pair of bottle-fed kittens that were affectionate and cuddly and kittens were just what the family had hoped for, but Lula got after them and the pair of cats then became unhappy.   The kittens experienced stresses in the home that were caused by Lula and the stress caused both cats to have urinary infections, which ultimately led to both having urinary blockages at different times and both had emergency surgeries and neither survived.    Tallulah Gin is not at risk of losing her home, she is very happy and her family is responsible, but has been hoping that just the right person would just love to adopt her.   Lula has been evaluated by Dr. Elaine Wexler-Mitchell, a vet board certified in felines and Lula does "NOT" have feline hyperesthesia which is a condition that would cause reactive behavior to touch by the brain interpreting touch as a shockwave. Certain breeds like, Burmese, Siamese, Persian and Abyssinian cats are more susceptible to the syndrome.  The family has seen some improvement giving calming supplements and can give her a pat here and there, but she doesn't normally warm up to strangers that are potential adopters. Medication rather than calming aids is another option.  We understand that people react to Tallulah Gin's beauty like on a dating website, "Swipe Right" without reading her bio and we're hoping that continued inquiries will lead to the perfect person appearing.   In the meantime, and while in waiting, Lula enjoys life in Newport Beach, on a small island off the Newport Beach Peninsula, where most people dream of living, in a bayfront home hearing the relaxing sound of the sailboats ropes softly clicking as she lays undisturbed by people passing by as she pears out the large bay window.   PETTING AGGRESSION: While many cats have varying degrees of petting aggression by letting their owners know when to touch them and where they like being touched, Lula is reactive intermittently and that can make people fearful. Petting aggression is manageable by respecting the cat's boundaries and developing a bonded relationship where petting is allowed based on trust and not petting the cat in the same place over and over, or learning when a cat isn't in the mood. Learning the body language of cats can tell you when they are becoming disturbed and stop petting. Or avoid those areas all together. When a cat strikes after being petted 5 times, pet less and learn what the cat enjoys.  Many cats when first rescued may exhibit behaviors that are simply reactive to uncertainty. They may show more frequent signs of petting aggression because they have not been petted in a long while and the stimulation is too much for them.  Any being that has experienced trauma needs time to adjust and feel safe. A cat that has developed a bond with a human may no longer exhibit the extreme behaviors that accompany petting aggression. Overstimulation by petting the same area causes most petting aggression. A rescue cat that hasn't been petted for a while can just feel over whelmed by touch. A back scratcher is a good tool to build trust and bond with any cat. It allows the cat to experience pleasure and for the pet-parent to learn what feels good to the cat. But of course, it is after the cat feels comfortable with you.   IF YOU HAVE INTEREST IN TALLULAH GIN: She is not the kind of cat for a first-time pet owner or anyone with children in the home, or that would visit. Please tell us about yourself and any experience you may have had with cats. A stable home would be important for the potential adopter to have with at least three years in the residence and not to be considering a move or transferring with a job. Being that Lula has been spoiled with a wonderful view and likes her independence she should have an environment similar to what she has been accustomed to. The kind of home believed to offer Lula happiness would have a calm environment, enough space for her to feel her independence with a large window to view birds or trees to keep her mind active.  Community Animal Network, a non-profit organization founded by DiAnna Pfaff-Martin in 1996.
