Story
Xena is a gorgeous 2 year old DLH torti. She is one of the sweetest cats and is very easy going. Though sometimes she does get the zoomies.. She does well with other cats, especially her kitten, Christina. She doesn't mind being held, but prefers to be on her own and do her own thing, though she will gladly stop for some pets. She will often be found sleeping in odd places throughout the house. If you are interested in adopting or meeting her, fill out an application at apl-shelter.org or come visit in-person at the Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Road in Springfield. The APL is open every day from noon to 5 p.m.

Story
Merlin is a handsome and friendly 6-year-old longhair black cat. He has FIV, which means he has a weaker immune system than most cats. FIV cats can live a long, happy life, but should not go to a home with FIV-negative cats. If you are interested in meeting/adopting him, fill out an application at apl-shelter.org (for adopting) or come meet him in person at the Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Road in Springfield. The APL is open every day from noon to 5 p.m.

Story
Blue is a 3 year old male cat with the cutest walk ever! We adopted him when he was a kitten, and fell in love with his strut. He was diagnosed with Cerebellar Hypoplasia when he was born. We are moving into a new house, and unfortunately can’t take him with us. He is litter trained, but due to his condition, he isn’t very well with keeping his mess (urine) in the litter box. We have found that a large tote works better than an actual cat box. If there is a door, he will just urinate out of it. We would also use puppy pads around the tote, which somewhat helped. He can jump over the edge of the tote just fine, and has no issues with jumping at all, really. He is a sweet, independent boy who doesn’t have any problem letting you know when he’s hungry, thirsty, or wants some attention. Also, due to his condition, he CANNOT be an outside cat! He doesn’t have the proper mean’s to defend himself against predators! *Adoption fee negotiable

Story
This cat was my mom's cat, but she's no longer able to care for her properly and she's looking worse each time I visit. This photo is an older one but shows what she can get back to once healthy again - right now she's skinnier and her fur isn't as shiny. She definitely has fleas and I have no idea if theres anything else wrong, but one of her ears is always folded down the few times I've seen her. She is the sweetest cat you will ever meet, loves to be held, and will purr the entire time. No shelters near me are able to take her and I would love for her to go to a loving home, but I would never make someone pay for her in her current condition. She is worth the love and effort, and if I could take her myself or afford a vet visit I would in a heartbeat but I am only a college student. Help me save this sweetie!

Story
Tommy is a sweet and handsome boy who found himself left in a truckstop parking lot in a carrier. Tommy is a very mischievous boy! His antics make for funny days here at the shelter. Tommy is an excellent hunter and he loves to play with wand toys. His orneriness sometimes gets on the nerves of the older cats in the cat roo,, but he just can't care. He is so fun with such a big personality. His fluffy hair makes for one gorgeous kitty. This guy just wants a loving family to take care of him. If interested, please fill out an application from effinghamcountyhumanesociety.org.
