Story
My Elaine is in an environment she finds to be too stressful. 4 years old 100% of adoption fee is donated to a rescue! Elaine is a calm cat who loves to relax in sunny spots. She enjoys watching the birds and kicking Legos around the house. She really enjoys getting out on the back sunroom! Elaine will likely thrive in a calm and peaceful environment. She needs a patient and understanding owner. She would probably do best in an environment without children, or at least ones who will respect her space. Elaine has enjoyed playing with our other cat and has even come to our large dog for an occasional head rub. It’s not often, but I don’t think she minds other calm animals. Elaine sometimes has trouble using the litter box. She pees in her litter box without a problem, but sometimes she will poop in front of the litter box. This is something we have managed by keeping it meticulously clean, but again our vet feels it could be her overwhelming environment.

Story
New Hanover animal control reached out to Feline Matchmakers with an SOS for Kricket. She was surrendered to the shelter by people who "couldn't afford" to keep her anymore. Unfortunatley for Kricket, this was a tragedy. She was completely freaked out in the small cage and could not be handled by staff. At a shelter, this only means one thing. So we jumped in and brought her in to our care. With a vet visit and some blood work, we found she had pancreatitus. We treated her and it made a world of difference in her attitude. Although she has certainly settled down in foster care, she is VERY uncomfortable around other cats. We feel she would do best as an only cat in her new home. Children would also freak her out. A very calm dog would not be a problem, as long as the dog ignores her.  The pictures have Kricket on our kitchen counter because that's the only safe space for her in our foster home that is full of kittens. Her favorite place to be is on a window ledge and if she knows not to get on your counters from the start and has another safe place by a window, she will comply. All Feline Matchmakers cats get age appropriate vaccinations, fixed, tested and microchipped prior to adoption. Please fill in our application via this link: http://www.felinematchmakers.org We only adopt kittens and young cats out within a one hour radius of Wilmington, NC to those over 21 years old. Occasionally we make exceptions for adult cats, but we are not a transport company. IF YOU DO NOT MEET THESE GUIDELINES, YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE REJECTED. ##1788317##

Story
Minda was surrendered by her owner to Feline Matchmakers because she deficates outside the box (but pees IN the box.) We have crate trained her, so she spends her nights in a large cage. This is working well so far, as she poops at night. She seems to enjoy the safety and solitude of an enclosed structure when she's ready to rest. Her ultrasound revealed that she has mild IBD, Irritable Bowel Disease, so we are going to change her diet and see if things turn around for her. She is otherwise healthy and gorgeouse! Minda will need to remain an indoor kitty and have plenty of stimulation like a cat tree, tall scratching post and interactive activities. She will need grooming as often as possible, so the adopter needs to gain trust with her in order to do that. She can be super sassy at the vet office, so will likely need calming medication prior to a vet visit.  All Feline Matchmakers cats are tested, spayed, chipped and up to date on vaccinations. For those over 21 in the Wilmington, NC area, adoption applications are taken at felinematchmakers.org ##1981690##

Story
Mom Twizzler (1482)Hello, my name is Reeses, I'm a spunky girl with lots of sass. But good sass. I tell it like it is but will love you unconditionally. I had double knee surgery and the Dr's said I recovered really well. Something about my kneecaps weren't in the right place so they had to move them back. Anyway, I would do better as an only cat because, I mean, look at me, I am a queen, but I will tolerate and even play with other kitties if I must. Older children would be better for me as well. Hope to meet you soon!Read the description above to know the location of this cat. Charlie is such a petite little girl and just needs LOVE!!! Barely weighing 5 lbs., she’s like a fuzzy stuffed animal that you just want to cuddle! Story
Spencer was adopted by a young lady when she lived in Alaska. She moved to Wilmington, NC and the stress was a bit too much for Spencer. He started acting unwell and she could not afford to vet him properly. It turns out that the stress caused Cystitis, which in turn caused his bladder to swell, causing crystals in his urinary tract and blood in his urine. He is on a round of medication to resolve the issue and will need a prescription food, probably for the rest of his life. Spencer will do best as the only cat in a household, but will eventually coexist with another nice cat with a lengthy introduction time. He will continue to need a low stress family. All Feline Matchmakers cats get age appropriate vaccinations, fixed, tested and microchipped prior to adoption.
