Story
Meet Carol (aka Feral Carol) 😼✨Carol came to us with a reputation. Upon arrival, she was mostly feral and fully committed to a “look but don’t touch” lifestyle. Hence the nickname Feral Carol—said lovingly, but also with a little fear.Fast forward to now and Carol has made some huge personal growth. We can touch her! She allows it! Does she love it? Absolutely not. Does she tolerate it like a tiny, spicy Victorian child? Yes.Being held is still a hard no, thank you very much. Carol is going to need a patient, cat-savvy adopter who understands that love doesn’t always look like cuddles—it sometimes looks like slow blinks from across the room and quiet coexistence. If you enjoy earning trust, celebrating small victories, and telling people “she’s not mean, she’s just Carol,” then this girl might be your soulmate. Adopt Carol and become part of her redemption arc. 🖤😹More information? Call Marion Area Humane Society at 740-389-6548 or email at manager@mahspets.org

Story
February is right around the corner, so we should talk about love, which is easy to do when you have a lover like Bernard! Seriously- his photo should be next to the dictionary definition for "cuddles". I should probably start out with what Bernard is not; he is not a Maine Coon, although he does a pretty good impression of one! He is a gorgeous long-haired tiger, who is looked for a lap where he can stretch out and be loved. To that point, I have includede his photo from when he first arrived (photo #4). The difference from then until now is extraordinary; imagine what he will look like once he finds his forever home! Bernard and his sisters were found outside before Christmas, in that cold snap, with no food or water. At 6 months and 8 pounds, he has seen some hardship, and he is ready to find a good home, where he can put his past behind him and focus on keeping his new family happy and loved forever. In addition, Bernard has also: -Tested negative for Feline Leukemia/FIV; -Is neutered; -Is vaccinated; -Has been treated for fleas and worms; and -Had a negative fecal test. -The balance of his vaccinations are included in our adoption plan. You guys. Look at that face! Can you imagine looking at it every day? If that sounds like perfection, please fill out an application today. https://www.catsanctuaryashland.org/adoption-application

Story
Rocket is a 4 year and 9 month old Red Point Siamese who came to the shelter as an injured stray. He had been attacked by another animal and had multiple puncture wounds that needed treatment. We were surprised to find he was neutered and microchipped. His owner, currently serving overseas in the military, had left him with friends to care for. Sadly, he ended up outside and did not fare well on his own. His owner, unable to claim, agreed to let us treat his wounds and place him up for adoption. Rocket needs a special adopter who will understand his personality! He does not like other cats, so much so that he will scream at his own reflection. He is very loving, playful, mischievous and vocal. His adoption fee is $150, this includes his neuter, FELV/FIV test, vaccines current, deworming, flea prevention and micro-chipped. Please call to schedule an appointment to meet him. 419-334-4517. We are open Monday through Friday 1pm-5pm and Saturday 1pm-4pm.
