Story
Rachel is a special feline looking for a peaceful and loving forever home. This enigmatic black beauty is shy but quick to warm up, and with a patient and caring family, she is sure to thrive.Rachel has a unique personality. While she's not the biggest fan of being held, she craves your attention and is most content with those quiet moments when she can bask in your affection. She's a sweet girl who will win your heart with her charming head butts and her habit of rubbing against you, ensuring you always feel her presence. She loves having her back and chin scratched! One of Rachel's favorite activities is being brushed, and she'll gladly sit still for a pampering grooming session. She is playful and loves her toys, racing around the room, and stretching her legs with the scratching post. She also enjoys a cozy bed, an interesting window view and she will continue to surprise you with her hidden talents and curiosities.Rachel is tolerant with other cats, so if you have feline companions, she might just get along well with them. As for dogs, she is curious with calm dogs and will likely do well with an easy going canine companion. This independent girl will thrive in a smaller family or a home with 1-2 people where she can be the center of your attention. Rachel is the perfect companion for those who offer a quieter, safe environment. If you're seeking a low-maintenance yet loving cat who enjoys head butts, quiet moments, and delicious meals, Rachel may be the ideal addition to your home.Applications are reviewed on a first come first served basis, so we encourage you to complete an application at www.henricohumane.org/adopt-a-cat before coming to our next adoption event. Our adoption events are every Saturday, excluding holidays, at the Petco next to Trader Joe's in Short Pump from 11:00 to 2:00 (11331 West Broad Street, Glen Allen, VA). Story
I adopted Meg 10 years ago when I moved to Richmond. Because of my health problems and age I am no longer able to care for her. Also I am moving into a smaller apartment which has no room for her. After she gets to know you she is very affectionate. She has never been around other animals so not sure how she would react.

Story
We are so excited to show off our newest young male kitten, Gorgeous Gus.   What a stunning long haired boy he is at just 6 months of age and nothing but a real sweetheart of a cat.   Gus is very shy with people and he loves to play with other cats and kittens. Gorgeous Gus enjoys sunning himself in the window and learning all about the world that is passing by his house.   He is going to l need some patience and  to be worked with and given time to come out of his shell. We don’t know what happened in his early kitten days but Gus gets along with other cats, kittens, puppies and dogs. He is shy around children and adults but he is a very playful kitten with other cats.  We know that he will soon learn how to be confident and trust the people in his life that are calm and caring.   If you would like to make Gorgeous Gus a project of love and trust then write to us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  Help Gus find his confidence and forever love.  Our vetting is extensive: Spay, rabies, FIV vaccine, FIV tested and negative, fecal and dewormings and a Drontal  and microchipped. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.December 8, 2023, 9:38 am

Story
Shaggy is the most precious little kitty you could ever ask for. He spent most of his kittenhood in quaratine because he had a skin infection and fungus that was causing bloody sores all over and hair loss. He has now recovered and can be around other cats, which he loves, and cuddled by his favorite humans! He loves to cuddle and be right in your face, so if that is not your thing...Shaggy is not for you. He does not know personal space. He is a purring machine and the best little guy you could ask for. We will make sure that Shaggy's new home will be his forever home, no exceptions! If you would like to meet Shaggy please clink the link below to submit an adoption application. Story
Piper is a playful, energetic girl. She was born to a feral cat in our neighborhood 7 years ago. We have been caring for her ever since. She gets along well with our small dog. She likes people, but can be shy at first. She loves to sit on the porch and watch the birds, but has been mostly an indoor cat. She would be a great companion for someone who is looking for a cat to care for.

Story
We originally got the cat when we found it at the VRE station is Stafford. It was very friendly, and tried to walk away with everyone that came by. We showed up later that night and gave her food, thinking that she was just someone's cat that was out and about, although she was very thin. We came back the next day, and she was still there, so we brought her to the animal shelter. Unfortunately while there, she got kennel cough, and was going to be put down due to the cost of treatment for her. I picked her up, brought her to the vet, and got her better. She has been with us for a bit, however, we have been trying to find a place to rehome since we got her. She is a lovely and friendly cat, but would prefer to be in a home where she receives a lot of attention. Unfortunately with a young child, two other cats, and a large dog, I don't feel it's the best place for her.
