Story
Meet Toby! Toby is a lovely 2 1/2 year old boy who is a love despite all that he has been through. He was an indoor/outdoor cat and has been found to have an auto immune disease that seems to flare seasonally due to allergies. He is now on authority skin and coat food and is no longer on Prednisolone. It is likely that he flared while getting into something while outside. Keeping him inside and loved will be the key. Toby's video shows you how far he has come and what a wonderful addition to any family he would be. If you are the family for Toby please reach out :-)

Story
Abigail and her siblings were found on a local rural property - presumed to be dumped there. They came to us to get vetted and hopefully find new homes. Abigail is a sweet girl that likes attention and playing with her siblings. She would love to go to a home with other felines and possibly take one of her siblings along. Abigail would be a great cat for any family and would love to find a new Home for the Holidays. All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

Story
Skip was a kitten and adopted out from the Humane Society back in December 2020. He was returned to us in August 2025 because he wasn't getting along with his brother. Skip is in the Cat Room at the shelter and is fine in there, but he really wouldn't mind at all if he found a new home where he could be the only cat. He loves people and attention and he likes to talk. He is a sweet boy and really would like to get out of the shelter and have a place of his own with his own human to love. Would you give Skip a new Home for the Holidays and beyond? All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ravi arrived at MCHS on 6/21/24.  He was dropped off at the Austin Vet Clinic after he was found by a good samaritan.  Ravi was extremely skinny and he was full of ticks and fleas.  We are guessing that Ravi is about 6 months old at the time of drop off.  He is a friendly cat and has come a long way in his recovery from being hungry and full of fleas/ticks.  Ravi has tested neg for feline leukemia/FIV, is now neutered and is current on shots/dewormings.  He will be adopted as an indoor only cat and the adoption fee is $80.  A pet carrier is required at the time of adoption and you must be 21 to adopt from MCHS.  To meet Ravi or any of our cats, go to mchs.rescuegroups.org and complete and submit our online application.  We will review and get in touch to set up a meeting time.  Our address is 101 22 ST SE, Austin, MN.  We are located off of I-90 via exit 180B to 218 SOUTH.  We are just past our local airport.  THANKS.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 10:55 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Griffin was found abandoned in the Mower County Humane Society parking lot in August, 2025.  This guy was pretty scared when we first got him, and he is going to need someone who is patient and knowledgeable about semi-feral cats. He was about 8 weeks old on 8/28/25.  Griffin is currently in foster care with someone who is working with him to let him know that some people are OK!  He is now neutered and current on shots/deworming and has tested neg for feline leukemia/FIV.  We are looking for a loving, indoor only home for Griffin.  Adoption fee is $80 and he will be adopted as an indoor only cats.  A pet carrier is required at the time of adoption and you must be 21 to adopt from MCHS.  To meet Griffin or any of our cats, go to mchs.rescuegroups.org and complete and submit our online application.  We will review and get in touch to set up a meeting time.  Our address is 101 22 ST SE, Austin, MN.  We are off of I-90 via eit 180B to 218 SOUTH.  We are just past our local airport.  Thanks.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 13, 2025, 2:14 pm
