Hubert was a farm cat for the first few months of his life. He can be quite aloof and gets overstimulated easily. Would be best as a single cat.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Butternut came to us as a stray who found himself inside someone’s trap. He was very scared, shaky and hissed a lot. He has come so far and allows us to get close. He is starting to realize he is now safe and that there is always food and water so he no longer eats too much, too fast.   We have been able to pick him up and hold him for a little bit before he gets too scared. He is accepting head and chin scratchies and has showed us his motor! He is becoming more playful and no longer hides in the cat cave! With time, this little guy will make a great pet! And he has the cutest little face and showed us hit little meow now!  He’s come a long way in the short time we’ve had him!   Butternut is from stray surrender. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 30, 2025, 1:51 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi you all wonderful people! You all are here because you want to bring a lovely kitty to your life and family who can add sweetness and companionship to your life. Well, look no further!    I have so much love and snuggles and sweetness to offer and all I ask is in return is love and your time. I am as sweet as a kitty could be, with my very soft meows that I don't often say, I express everything through my headbutting, rubbing against your leg or arm, just jumping randomly in your lap and making myself cozy there and looking at you with beautiful eyes and loud purrs. I am a nugget of energy and love running around anything that rolls or drags or dangles (or just ..moves including you!)    I love keeping my space and litterbox clean and don't have accidents. I love my scratch pads and scratch posts. I love laying in the sunlight, warm places and blankets! I am just a petite love bug who is looking for a lot of love and a family to call my own. Would that be you?    Ducky does need to be adopted to a home with another playful cat    Ducky (formerly known as Bug because she loves chasing bugs in the grass) is from an owner surrender. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Faye came into rescue with her two littermates and is the shyest of the trio. She takes a little extra time to warm up, but once she feels safe and familiar with her surroundings, her sweet and playful personality begins to shine. At first, Faye prefers to observe from a distance, quietly taking in the world around her. But with patience and kindness, she’ll slowly make her way into your lap for cuddles and affection. Her soft, longer fur is perfect for petting, and she’ll reward you with gentle purrs as she relaxes in your arms. Faye loves climbing the cat tree and playing with wand toys, showing off her playful side once she’s comfortable. She does well with other cats and children, and while she’s a bit unsure around dogs, she can adjust with slow, gentle introductions. Faye has also developed a close relationship to another cat in her foster home, Missgray, and while they don't have to go to the same home, Faye would be happy if they were adopted together. So, if you're considering having two cats, check out Missgray's profile. Faye is a tender soul who will thrive in a calm, loving home where she can blossom at her own pace and become a devoted companion. Faye is from a local shelter. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. **Wobbly cat**Samson is a sweet, affectionate, and playful guy who is full of love and charm. He was stepped on as a kitten and does have some balance issues and quirks as a result, but we think that just adds to his charm!  His clumsy nature doesn’t slow them down much—it gives a little something extra to his uniqueness and irresistible personality! He adores cuddle time, happily soaking up pets and attention, and will often seek out his favorite humans for comfort and companionship. Playtime is a favorite activity, whether that’s batting at toys, chasing gentle movements, or simply being part of whatever you’re doing. This special kitty has a confident spirit and a joyful heart, and he's looking for a home that will love him exactly as he is. If you’re searching for a devoted companion with extra sweetness and character, this wobbly wonder may be your perfect match!   Samson is from a local impound. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet The Black Hills Crew! Sturgis, Spearfish, Custer, and Cheyenne Estimated Age: 3–4 months Learning to trust humans — but curious and full of potential! Say hello to Sturgis, Spearfish, Custer, and Cheyenne — an adorable group of rescue kittens known as the Black Hills Crew . These four are your typical playful, curious kittens... with one special twist: they’re still learning that humans aren’t so scary after all. Right now, they’re in their shy phase — more likely to sniff your hand than lean into it. But they’re making progress every day. They watch humans closely, follow the action, and show growing curiosity. They’re learning that touch is safe, and that love comes in soft voices and gentle patience. Meet the Crew: Cheyenne is the bravest of the bunch — always the first to check things out and the most likely to lead the others in exploring new territory.   Spearfish had a wound on her neck when she came into rescue, but she took her antibiotics like a champ and is healing up beautifully.   Sturgis & Custer are a little more reserved but still love playtime and are starting to come around with gentle interaction.   What They Love: Other cats! They adore feline friends and will come running and purring when they see another cat.   Playtime. Wand toys, tunnels, and anything they can bat around — they’re all in.   Food and litter box? No worries there — they’re eating like champs and have perfect litter box manners.   These kittens will thrive in a patient home with other friendly cats to show them the ropes. They’re not lap cats yet , but with time and love, they have every chance to blossom into affectionate companions. If you believe in second chances and the magic of earning a shy kitten’s trust, the Black Hills Crew would love to grow up in your care.     I just joined my foster family and we are still getting acquainted with one another. Once they learn more about me, they will add more information here! Cheyenne is from a stray surrender with 3 siblings.
