Story
For Pet's Sake Rescue is a Mississippi based rescue. All animals are currently in MS. Mississippi is overpopulated with too many animals, not enough adopters, and many high kill shelters. For Pet's Sake Rescue saves each animal from a different background.  ***Breed input is required for each platform but is not guaranteed to be accurate. We do not DNA test. We rescue animals from different situations. We discuss breed assignments with our vets to label them as accurately as possible.*** For Pet's Sake Rescue transports animals to other states for better adoption potential. Our goal is to keep animals alive and out of kennels into their forever homes as quickly as possible. Each animal is quarantined and vetted during their time in our care. Each adopted pet is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and has current flea treatment unless otherwise noted.  You can visit our website at www.forpetssakerescue.org for our full adoption process and adoption application. Once we review your application and check your vet reference, we will contact you to proceed. If both parties agree to the adoption, we will send you an Adoption Contract with an invoice. Once the invoice is paid, your pet is "on hold" for you to pick up or we can transport the pet to a designated location closer to you via transport. Transports are arranged for specific dates. We will discuss these dates and locations with you during the initial phone call.  We are currently unable to adopt pets to MA and RI residents. Any of our adoptable animals can be transported unless otherwise noted in their profile. View all of our adopted animals at www.forpetssakerescue.com ##2058645##

Story
Gypsy is playful, enjoys catnip toys, sparkle balls, teaser wands and feathers. She appreciates places to hide and enjoys napping at the top of a cat tower. Gypsy gets a charge out of being in a Catio (enclosed patio for cats) where she can watch the birds and chase bugs. Gypsy came to Friends of Jackson County rescue traumatized when discovered on an interstate ramp. Her post traumatic symptoms are fearfulness and interacting with people. Gypsy does not like to be held, confined or being put in a trapped situation. In a stable home with routines and a respect for her fear, Gypsy is a perfectly pleasant house cat. She needs stability, space and her human companion to respect her boundaries and limitations. Gypsy will be dependent on you to take care of her. Her ideal home is with adult people, preferably someone who is experienced with cats and is capable of continuing to work with her and follow her care and training plan to continue positive progress. Gypsy must be an inside kitty only. She is very social towards other cats and gentle with kittens. It would be in Gypsy's favor if she was adopted with another cat that she pals around with; recommendation can be provided. A home with no dogs is preferred. Gypsy is 1 year old with a black medium length coat. Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets (FJCASP) is a foster-based rescue for dogs and cats. Story
Josephine is sassy, saucy and brassy but she is a doll! She goes for basking in the sun, lounging on a cat tree and feasting on lickable cat treats. Josephine chirps like a songbird when she wants something and can be very persuasive with those big eyes! She is shy and apprehensive with new people and new places but with love, patience and plenty of lickable treats Josephine should be confident quickly. She is skeptical of loud noises, such as, a dishwasher or vacuum cleaner. Josephine’s ideal home is with an individual, couple or family with older children. A home that is quiet and calm. She would do best in a home with a feline friend. Josephine will be fine with a cat-friendly dog that is mature and has a tranquil demeanor. A slow introduction to any new pets is needed. Josephine is 1-year-old with a blue medium length coat. She has a semi-cobby body with a small frame, big round eyes that are bright and full of color. If interested in meeting this kitty, you can find an online adoption application at https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application/ adoption fees cover spay/neuter, vaccinations, wormers and preventatives and range from $30-$110. Story
Anita is alluring, elegant and just peachy! She is a lover and an admirer. Anita cherishes attention and craves petting. She keeps physically active and mentally engaged by playing with toys that dangle and swing, like a cat wand! Anita savors cat treats and will nuzzle up to you for some scrumptious goodies. Her ideal home is with an individual, couple or family; Anita is a people kitty. She does not interact with other cats and prefers not to be in their company. Anita is expected to be okay with a cat-friendly dog after a proper introduction. Otherwise, she will be just fine as the only pet. Anita has a medium length coat of gray and buff with a dilute torbie pattern, also known as patched tabby or tortoiseshell tabby! As of April 2024, Anita is 5 months old. She does not have a tail. Anita came to Friends of Jackson County with a "degloved" very short tail (the skin was ripped away showing muscle and bone). Her treatment option was a small snippet of amputation.
