You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Smoke is a complete love and whoever adopts her will most likely be well rewarded with love and appreciation. While Smoke probably will not run up to greet you when you walk into the room where she lives, she’s happy for you to come up to her. She’ll sniff your fingers to see who you are, then roll onto her back and show you her belly. If you pet her ears and head, she’ll purr, then lick your fingers to express her appreciation. And she absolutely loves sitting in laps!Given the trauma she has suffered, it’s amazing how loving she is. She and her two littermates, Ash and Soot, survived a house fire. Then they were loose on the property for a week before being brought to the shelter. Smoke’s ears were burned by the intense heat but have healed well. Sadly, when the vet examined her, he discovered that Smoke had a heart murmur. We got Thoreau in 2018 from the SPCA along with his brother, Emerson. Thoreau loves to headbutt people and ask for pets. He is very sweet and has a calm demeanor. He has developed a habit of peeing in multiple places throughout the house. We have tried using 10+ litter boxes for our 6 cat home, medication, Feliway, and nothing has seemed to help. At the same time, he has developed an adversarial relationship with our older cat, Taz. Thoreau no longer likes to come upstairs and doesn’t seem to really enjoy being in our house any longer. I’m hopeful that if he were an only cat, he would stop peeing in unwanted places. Thoreau is a very sweet boy and would love to live with someone who has easy-going cats or to be an only cat. He’s good with kids as well.
