Story
Cats-the most effective, affordable and environmentally friendly pest control method! The barn cat, also known as a feral cat, is a domestic cat, usually of mixed breed, that lives primarily out-of-doors, in a feral or semi-feral condition on agricultural properties, usually sheltering in outbuildings.Individuals interested in adopting barn cats must be able to provide the cats with shelter, food, water, and vet care. Barns, outbuildings, factories, and warehouses are all considered suitable shelters for the cats. All barn cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated against rabies, and ear-tipped.If you are interested in adopting a barn cat please fill out the adoption questionnaire and a member of the adoption center team will contact you!*cats pictured are not available*

Story
*The pets pictured in this posting are just ad pictures not available pets.*The Yakima Humane Society provides care for thousands of animals each year, some of which require time in foster care before they are ready to be adopted. Fostering a homeless pet is both a rewarding and enriching experience; it is also great for families or individuals who love animals but cannot commit to having a full-time companion animal. The care that dedicated Foster Care Families provide is invaluable, both to the animals fostered and the people that adopt them. You can foster as much or as little as you like, and we need foster homes for a wide variety of animals - kittens, puppies, cats, dogs, and an occasional small & furry animal! You can learn more about our foster program and fill out an application athttp://www.yakimahumane.org/get-involved/foster/.*The pets pictured in this posting are just ad pictures not available pets.*

Story
Meet Rocket, a 3-month-old male Domestic Medium Hair.Rocket has a need for speed! He loves to play and is very fun to hang out with. Rocket has a more brown coat right now but it is expected to grow/shed and be black when he is an adult. Rocket arrived at the adoption center as a stray and was not feeling very well but he got some great care as well as medical treatment. This boy is back to being a full speed rocket. Please remember that Rocket is a kitten and kitten behavior comes with the package. They need lots of toys and places to scratch to learn good scratching habits. They also need patience as they finesse their litter box skills in a new home they are unfamiliar with. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.

Story
Meet Maria, a 6-month-old female Domestic Medium Hair.Maria and her sister Melanie are very pretty young ladies! They are timid at the shelter, but they do enjoy attention so we believe they would do best in calm homes that can let them adjust slowly. Acclimation takes time and they will need a few hiding places or a limited area to help them adjust. Maria and Melanie are used to living together so we would love to find them a home together but it is not required.Come meet Maria today, she is located at the Ellensburg Animal Shelter. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right?
