Story
Nellie is a sweet but timid kitty who has been living with her foster home for three years now. She's come a long way since she came to BARS as a pregnant stray cat! Although easily spooked, she loves to chase the laser pointer, play with string, get pets from her foster mom, and snuggle with other kitties. Nellie is continuously learning how to trust people, but she will curl up by her foster mom's feet and is always hanging out in the main room, scoping out the situation and looking for a reflection to chase. She's truly a special cat and has been very low maintenance in her foster home! She would do well in a home with no dogs, children who are good with cats, and needs another kitty friend to show her the ropes.

Story
Momo is pretty and petite little cat - she loves to jump and chase feather toys (she will ask to play!) and will come and find you to curl up on your lap for evening TV watching and loves chin scratches and ear rubs. She is a little shy at first, but soon warms up to everyone and can even be a bit cheeky! She is getting used to being picked up for short cuddles and gives the best pigeon chirps and head butts and will roll all over your feet for belly rubs!Momo's best friend is Marbles and they are quite the pair! Ideally they would stay together, however Momo will be happy in a home with another calm kitty to snuggle with. Momo is very affectionate with her foster family and loves her cat tree, long naps, sleeping in sunbeams and windowsills with views. Soft blankets are a must for her biscuit making, and she will greet you with a huge welcome when you return home. Momo is ready for her forever home and if you adopt her she will reward you with a lifetime of companionship & purrs!

Story
A year ago today, this sweet girl came into our lives. The day she arrived, she was around 8 months old, very pregnant, and terrified. The very next day, she gave birth to 4 kittens - 1 was stillborn, 1 passed away the next day, and a third (RIP Troy) succumbed to a viral infection when he was 8 weeks old. Being part of a feral colony can mean that litters are compromised by inbreeding and lack of health care for these kitties compared to their more domesticated counterparts. Having a kitten die on your watch is heartbreaking. Her surviving kitten, Tux, is a handsome boy, and adored by his adoptive family. Taylor has come such a long way since those first days, where she shook, hissed and wanted no part of us. With time, lots of patience and taking things strictly at her pace, she now sleeps on our bed at night, normally tucked up by our feet, and hurries me along if I'm not getting her breakfast quickly enough (boops or nips depending on her mood). She adores our gingers, plays with any kittens we have, and seems to be enjoying just being a kitty as opposed to the life of constant litters and life in the wild that she would have had. Will she ever be a lap kitty? Probably not, but she'd make a great companion to someone willing to continue to let her grow at her own pace. Happy 1 year Anniversary of your new life Taylor, we're honoured to be part of your story ??😻🐈??

Story
This is Marbles. He's about 2 years old and he's a very solid and handsome boy! He loves to play chase the spring toy, and will let you know if they've gone underneath the couch. He likes sleeping in the sun, treat puzzles, pouncing on your toes under the duvet and greeting family with loving chirps when they arrive home. He loves being picked up for cuddles and is an excellent biscuit maker on soft snuggly blankets, has a big appetite and will yell at you if breakfast is not served on time! His funny habit is drinking by dipping his paw, and he's great at using his scratch post - it needs to be tall for his long legs and he loves his cat tree! Marbles get along with dogs and other cats in the home - his best friend is a female cat Momo and he will meow if he can't find her - they're usually curled up together and if you're looking for the perfect pair of kitties they would love to stay together forever.Marbles is a fantastic friendly boy who deserves to find his very own family who are seriously committed to giving him a lifetime supply of spring toys and love. He's so ready to go to his forever home! If you would like to meet Marbles, please complete an adoption application.

Hello, I'm Lynx. I'm a (young) senior, but don't let that fool you. I still have plenty of love to give. I'm sweet and gentle, and while I am very shy at first, once I get to know you, I'll be your loyal companion. I'm also a smart boy, I love puzzle toys!My Hu-Mom that brought me home as a kitten all those years ago got sick and was unable to keep me so I am back with BARS for now. Since returning, I've been diagnosed with diabetes, but my foster Mom says I'm "an absolute champ" at taking my insulin injections.I absolutely love to flop over for my foster Mom and show her my white tummy, and when she sits with me I like to curl up in her lap. It took a while for me to trust that I was safe but after building trust she says I am a purrfect housemate!I don't like loud environments and while I have lived with other cats and a small dog, I would also be happy being your only best boy! I also need a home who is willing to work with my diabetes, which includes twice-daily insulin injections and scheduled feeding. If you'd like to know more about me, reach out to the BARS Feline Team! If you're looking for a calm older kitty, give me a chance and I promise, you won't regret it!

I'm a good listener and a quiet companion, perfect for those who appreciate a peaceful presence. Adopt me if you're looking for a cat who can respect your space while offering silent companionship. This cat has a history of living with other cats and may be suitable for a multi-cat home. Hello there, I'm Smokey. I'm a senior in age only. I love to play with wand toys and cuddle. I may not be the youngest cat here, but I have a lot of love to give. I'm a great listener and I promise to be your loyal companion. I was declawed prior to coming to EHS. This reduces my ability to fight or flee in the face of danger so it is extra important that I am not allowed to roam freely outside.Looking for a big, playful, affectionate cat? Come meet me and my friends at the Edmonton Humane Society and let's see if we're a match! This cat is part of the Edmonton Humane Society's senior for senior program. EHS volunteer comment: "A bit cautious at first but will warm up to you quickly to get more pets. Loves to roll in catnip and engage with a kicker toy."Hello, I'm Riley. I wasn't always a shelter cat, you know. Once, I was a sorcerer's companion, living in a world of spells and enchantments. One day, a spell went awry, and I found myself in this reality. It's not bad, but it's not home. I'm social and sweet, always ready for a friendly chat or a gentle pet. I miss the magical adventures, but I've learned to find magic in the small things here. Like the joy of a sunny window, or the purr of a contented friend. I'd love to share this new magic with you. Adopt me, and let's create our own enchanting world together.Come down to the Edmonton Humane Society and let's see if you'd like to take me to your magical place called HOME!!!
