Story
Meatball is a friendly, playful guy who is about a year and half old. He is Fiv+, but he`s not aggressive, so he is safe to mix with other cats. He is currently in a temporary home with two older cats who are not into playing, much to Meatball`s dismay. If you have a playful kitty who needs a playmate, consider Meatball! He also gets along with small children. He is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He has had flea prevention and dewormer. The adult cat adoption fee is $50. If you are interested in meeting this adorable guy, please complete the cat adoption form and we will set up a time for you to meet him.Application: https://safehomerescue.org/how-to-adopt/cat-adoption-form/

HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org.---- Sweet and curious kitty who enjoys being in the same room with you - Likes being petted on his head- Gets the "zoomies" and loves to run through the house! - Likes to look out the window at birds- Extremely chatty fellow who loves to tell you all about his day!- Loves toy balls and chasing his feather toys - Stressed around other cats and need to be the only cat in his new home - Happiest in calm, quiet environment- Young, busy children are just too much for him, so he will thrive in a more mature home- Will need time to settle into his new home, so please be patient and give him all the time he needs- He is a cat who will bond quickly with his human, and will make a devoted friendThis cat has shown signs of overstimulation while in the shelter. Lots of handling, playing with hands, and excessive petting can cause them to overstimulate, which can result in scratching and/or biting. This cat is looking for experienced cat owners who will watch this cat's body language while interacting to note signs of overstimulation (tail waving, fur rippling, dilated pupils, ears turned back and quick body movements) and be willing to respect their boundaries. This cat will also benefit from interactive toys such as wands and ball spinners while playing. We are happy to speak with you more when you visit and can provide post-adoption resources. If you can give this cat mental stimulation, patience and space when they need it, please consider adopting! They would love to be your sidekick and buddy for life! All adoptable cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP as appropriate for their age) Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 8.36 Age: 3yrs 5mths 2wks

Story
This cat has tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus. FIV attacks the immune system leaving a cat vulnerable to recurrent infections. There currently is no cure for FIV, but infected cats can live fairly normal lives for years. FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds. Casual contact such as sharing food/water bowls, mutual grooming, etc. is unlikely to spread FIV. However, we recommend that this cat be an only cat or live with other FIV+ cats. More info is on this cat's kennel, but if you have questions, please consult your regular veterinarian before adoption. This cat has shown signs of overstimulation while in the shelter. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
This cat is participating in our Camp Purr working cat program, which is designed for feral or semi-feral cats that would be happiest living outside as working cats. Adopters must provide shelter and food/water to these cats year-round and need to be willing to work with our Camp Purr team to ensure these cats are acclimated appropriately and humanely to their new environment. Because these cats are familiar with the other cats they are living with currently, we require that all Camp Purr cats be adopted with at least one other Camp Purr cat. The adoption fee for each cat in this program is just $25, and all cats have been spayed/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. HOW TO ADOPT: These cats are available by appointment only to ensure our team has adequate time to assist you. To get started, please answer a few questions here and a Camp Purr Counselor will email you soon. Primary Color: Brown Tiger Age: 0yrs 8mths 0wks
