Story
Meatball was found outside in subzero freezing temps. He was skinny and very hungry, but friendly and anxious to be inside in the warmth. We believe he is just over one year old. He is Fiv+, but he's not aggressive, so he is safe to mix with other cats. He is currently in a temporary home with two older cats and he really wants to play with them, but they're not into playing, much to Meatball's dismay. If you have a playful kitty who needs a playmate, consider Meatball! He also gets along with small children. He is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He has had flea prevention and dewormer. The adult cat adoption fee is $50. If you are interested in meeting this adorable guy, please complete the cat adoption form and we will set up a time for you to meet him.Application: https://safehomerescue.org/how-to-adopt/cat-adoption-form/

HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org. ---- Has done well with other cats, and will likely enjoy a cat friend in her new home- Is doing okay with a dog in her foster home as long as it doesn't bother her and gives her space- Young children are way too much for her right now, so she's looking for a mature home- Enjoys treats and canned food, and that may be a nice way to earn her trust and bond with her- Likes to spend time cuddled up sleeping in her fuzzy kitty hut or a cat condo- She loves playing with toys by herself, and her foster mom has caught her many times when she thinks nobody is watching!- Enjoys a daily brushing and will allow some light petting- Very curious kitty, and will want to explore every inch of her new home, once she settles in- Looking for a home with patient family members who will give her time to open up and let her take things at her own pace- Is not a snuggly lapcat - she's very independent, and will be a terrific cat for someone looking for a cat as a companion to love and care forThis cat can be fearful and may need extra time to adjust to a new home. We've seen good progress here at the ARL, but don't be surprised if it takes several weeks for this cat to become comfortable in a new place. This cat may hide and just observe at first - maybe for quite a while - and that is perfectly normal. Young children are too much for this cat right now, so we are highly recommending a quiet, mature home. We are happy to provide post-adoption resources. If you can give this cat extra time, patience and TLC, please consider adopting! It will be so rewarding to watch them gain confidence and start enjoying all the good things in life!
