Slim Shady is about 9 months old, he and his siblings were from an accidental litter and now his parents and him have been fixed. Slim loves to play with his parents and his younger siblings who are 3 months old. He is very affectionate and cuddly but also has total kitten energy and loves to jump and run. These cats are strictly indoor cats, have never lived outside and have been raised since they were born. Slim is neutered, vaccinated and current on his preventive meds.

Jelly loves attention (especially belly rubs) and watching birds outside. Good around dogs. If traveling with her she will need anxiety medicine prior to calm her down.

Omen is roughly 4, going on 5 and about 8-9 pounds. He loves to lay on laps and get pets on his terms. he also likes to lay at your feet under a blanket but don't actually cover him with a blanket. He's also quite the talker and loves catnip. His front claws are gone but still has the back. Up to date on vaccines and preventatives and neutered. Not a fan of dogs but will tolerate them.

A neighborhood cat chose to have her litter in my yard shelter and I’ve since taken in her kittens. They’ve been spayed/neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. Lil Dude and Poppy are two of the four siblings, and they’re ready for loving homes—either together or separately. Lil Dude is bright, “talkative,” and follows you around like a loyal pup. Poppy, with her velvety-soft coat, is gentle, affectionate, and equally devoted. Both are cuddle bugs who love snuggling in bed, soaking up kisses, and being scooped up for hugs. Playful and curious, they enjoy chasing laser pointers, batting yarn balls, and pouncing on crinkly toys. While they’ll need a little time to adjust to a new environment, their goofy, affectionate personalities shine through. They thrive on attention and would do best with an experienced cat owner who can give them the love and care they deserve.

This cat is participating in our Camp Purr working cat program, which is designed for feral or semi-feral cats that would be happiest living outside as working cats. Adopters must provide shelter and food/water to these cats year-round and need to be willing to work with our Camp Purr team to ensure these cats are acclimated appropriately and humanely to their new environment. Because these cats are familiar with the other cats they are living with currently, we require that all Camp Purr cats be adopted with at least one other Camp Purr cat. The adoption fee for each cat in this program is just $25, and all cats have been spayed/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org ---- Very sweet and shy kitty- A gentle, sweet cat who is very motivated by food - that is the way to her heart- Enjoys playing with string toys- Will thrive as the only cat in her new home- Children are not a good fit for her, so she is looking for a more mature home- Will thrive as the only cat in her new home, but if you do have another cat, it will need be a cat who will be a laid-back companion for her, and not in her face- Looking for a home with patient family members who will give her time to open up and let her take things at her own pace. She does best when she starts out in her own room and is slowly introduced to the rest of the house and other pets over a few weeks- Has a lot of love to give and will be a wonderful companion for a quiet person or two who will allow her to settle in at her own slow pace. Please plan on giving her plenty of time in her new home. She is worth the wait! - Will be a terrific friend for a calm, patient person who loves the quiet life just like she does- Was very fearful when she arrived at the shelter, but she has been coming out of her shell and is a total sweetheart with the people she feels comfortable with- This cat can be fearful and may need extra time to adjust to a new home. We've seen good progress here at the ARL, but don't be surprised if it takes several weeks for this cat to become comfortable in a new place. This cat may hide and just observe at first - maybe for quite a while - and that is perfectly normal. Young children are too much for this cat right now, so we are highly recommending a quiet, mature home. We are happy to provide post-adoption resources.
