Story
Meet Tom, a gentle, loving 10-year-old tuxedo cat looking for a calm forever home. This is a very difficult decision for us, but he has become increasingly stressed living in a busy home with a baby, and we feel he would be much happier in a calmer household where he can relax and get the attention he deserves. Tom is very affectionate once he feels safe, a quiet companion who enjoys napping nearby, fully litter-box trained, indoor only, neutered. He would be perfect for someone who wants a low-key, loving companion. He still has many happy years ahead and just needs the right environment to feel comfortable.

Story
Miso is a three year old female tortie that I took in from my brother when his daughter was born. She wasn’t good with children and I took her as a last option. She does show affection, likes to be pet a certain way, and is great with dogs but does not get along with other cats and can be very particular with how she’s handled and interacted with. She doesn’t get along with my other cats so I am unable to keep her. She would do best in a home without other cats or children. I can only pick her up for very short amounts of time and have been unsuccessful with trimming her nails. I believe she could do well in an environment without cats or children. Due to the fighting with my other cats this is my last attempt to rehome before I surrender her to a shelter.

Story
Hello dear, I’m Misty. I’m a senior lady with a soft face, wise eyes, and the kind of presence that makes a house feel like a home. I spent 14 years with the same family, loving them faithfully and growing old by their side. Life changed when my family split up, and I ended up back here because my diabetes was more than one of them wanted to handle.I won’t lie—I was confused and heartbroken at first. I’m an old girl, and I don’t understand why I had to start over so late in life. But I’m still gentle, still affectionate, and still very much deserving of love.My diabetes just means I need a little extra care and consistency—nothing I can’t handle with the right person by my side. In return, I offer quiet companionship, soft purrs, and the kind of love only a senior cat knows how to give. I’m not here for chaos or kitten antics; I’m here for cozy couches, routines, and someone who won’t give up on me when things get inconvenient. If you have room in your heart for an old lady who still has so much love left to give, I promise I’ll be forever grateful.________________________________________________If you would like to meet one of our adoptables or learn more about them, please submit an application at https://animalrescueneworleans.org/adoptfoster/.**Note: Our shelter is open by scheduled appointment only after your application is approved. Story
Hi, I'm Pappy and my world was flipped upside down when my owner was deported. Can you show me love once again? My story starts out with being in a loving, warm home with my beloved owner. He absolutely cherished us. Until one day, he was deported. Overnight my best friend was gone. Soon after I made my way to ARNO and it was all so scary. The nosies, the weird smells, I just wanted to be back with my dad. I would barely eat even though the humans there did all they could to help me. I soon went into a foster home as part of my journey to fixing my heartbreak. In foster, it takes a bit of time to warm up in a new environment. After all I went through, can you blame me? I do better having comforting items to ease me back into home life: cozy hiding spots, windows to gaze out of, and cardboard scratchers to keep my nails looking trim. But the way to win me over? Temptations treats. My anxieties slowly slip away when I hear the crinkle and shake of the bag and I eagerly eat any and all treats you toss at me. I also enjoy pate wet food over all the other kinds, so no need to waste your money on fancy foods with big ol' chunks of meat, haha.My foster home also has resident cats that are confident and tolerate of newcomers. They provided a much welcomed level of reassurance that my new space is OK and provided help in feeling comfortable. It would be great if my future home also had other felines to show me the ropes of the home I end up in.In my original home I was one of four cats. By my side the entire time was Pantera. While she is not my litter mate sister, we've been through this heartbreaking journey together since Day 1. We are not bonded and would be fine with being separated, but it would be nice if we could stay together after all we've gone through. (Copy/paste link: https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/44313770-new-orleans-louisiana-cat) My future home will need to be one that understands it will take some time for me to understand I am once again in a place that is full of safety, warmth, and love. Tasty snacks will certainly play a starring role in my path of a second chance and ultimately I'll need a place that will just give me patience and kindness until I can start repaying it back to you. Could you be the hero I need?As a special promotion, cats like Pappy that have been waiting 6+ months for a home receive 3 months of Revolution flea, tick, ear mite, and heartworm preventatives– a $79 value!________________________________________________If you would like to meet one of our adoptables or learn more about them, please submit an application at https://animalrescueneworleans.org/adoptfoster/.**Note: Our shelter is open by scheduled appointment only after your application is approved. Story
This sweet 7-year-old snugglebug is the perfect mix of mellow and playful. Merry loves curling up beside you for cozy naps, but he also has a silly side—he plays fetch like a pro! His favorite pastime is bird-watching from a sunny window, where he’ll happily chirp at his feathered “neighbors.” Merry is looking for a loving home where he can enjoy a soft bed, a good view, and plenty of cuddles. He's good with older kids, but the young ones can make him nervouse. He’ll make a wonderful, affectionate companion for anyone wanting a calm but fun kitty. Owner will cover cost of first vet visit with vaccines as well as provide bag of cat food, cat carrier, and litter bin cabinet.

Story
Maybird came to us as a rescue cat about 9 years ago, a delicate little grey kitten. She was, and remains, shy, although affectionate when things are quiet around the house. She is still thin and has struggled with some health problems in recent years so requires a special diet and TLC. She will reward you with much purring and rubs against you to let you know she likes you and appreciates your care. Maybird would make an excellent companion for one or two people, would do fine in a small apartment or a larger residence, and can be left alone during the work day, as long as she has her food and water available and a clean litter box. We regret needing to find a new home for Maybird, but it's a necessary thing for our family. If you want a sweet, loving cat, Maybird is your girl.

Story
Bayou was found as a kitten in Bayou Sauvage. She is the sweetest, most gentle cat Who has never scratched or bitten. She is lovely and loving but is very skittish! She loves to cuddle on the couch and with her person at nighttime, and loves her people. She prefers to be left to her devices during the day, but will come to where you are just to spend time with you. You She loves to sleep, eat and watch the world go by. She does not really play, but is the nostalgic gentle and sweet cat you’ll ever meet. Her vet raves about her gentle nature. She adapts quickly and is very curious. She has boarded without issues and has been indoor and outdoor with no issues. I am moving to Europe and cannot bring this sweet little bean.
