Meet Flynt, a survivor from  Contra Costa Animal Services . This handsome boy was rescued just in time after receiving his euthanasia notice. Because of rescue, Flint now has the chance he always deserved — a second chance at life. ❤️ Flynt is a Dutch Shepherd mix, about 4.5 years old, and weighs around 74 lbs. He is vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered, and ready to start the next chapter of his life with a loving family. Flynt is a sweet and loyal dog who loves people. He can also do well with other dogs with proper introductions. What he needs most now is a home where he can feel safe, loved, and part of a family. After everythinghe has been through, Flint truly deserves a place to call his own. ✨ If you are interested in adopting or doing a foster-to-adopt with Flint, please contact the rescue. Giving Flint a home means giving a shelter survivor the life he almost never got.June 4, 2026, 9:10 pm

Story
Update! RJ had his enucleation surgery and is so much happier. He’s even more playful and affectionate than he was before the surgery. He’s a really terrific boy who is lovable, brave, resilient and so smart!  RJ is a seven year old Dutch Shepherd mix. He was found wandering on the mean streets of South Los Angeles by himself, and taken to a high kill shelter. We pulled RJ out of the shelter to give him a chance at a good life. RJ has PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy) and cataracts and is blind. He doesn't let the lack of sight affect his quality of life, and is a happy guy who finds his way around just fine. This brave boy is only hesitant about one thing: traffic noises. RJ has a surgery coming up to remove both eyes because he has blown up a case of glaucoma in both eyes. He will be much happier, and pain free afterwards. He'll be available for adoption as soon as he is completely healed. He's a very affectionate boy who really doesn't ask for a lot, but he sure does like belly rubs and cuddle sessions. He enjoys every meal, and loves the raw bone-in treats that we give him every day. He's content to make himself comfortable on his big cushy bed, and will alert to sounds that he's not familiar with. We always announce ourselves when we greet RJ, and he always has a nose to the air - his other senses take over for his lack of sight. He knows every bush and tree on his walks, and likes going out for short adventures. He likes car rides, too. We guide him with our voices. We're searching for an owner that knows that sometimes dogs that aren't perfect CAN be perfect. RJ is always cheerful, gentle and doesn't know a bad day. He learns very fast when taught, too. He greets every day and person with a smile on his face. He's a really amazing spirit. If you would like to meet this remarkable boy, please complete an application for adoption: www.deafdogrescueofamerica.org/adoption-application.htmlNovember 3, 2024, 12:20 am

Story
Hi, I’m Wylie! 🐾 I’m a 1.5-year-old Pittie mix weighing about 52 pounds, and I’ve been told my adorable underbite and goofy smile are pretty hard to resist. I’m a happy guy who loves making people laugh and smile. I’m super smart, fully potty trained, and I know all my basic commands. I love learning new things, and I recently figured out how to bring the ball back during fetch—I’m pretty proud of myself for that one! I also LOVE water. If you’re watering the lawn, you can count me in. Helping with the hose is one of my favorite jobs, even if I sometimes get a little distracted playing in the spray. Life hasn’t always been easy for me. I spent nine long months in the shelter waiting for someone to notice me. During that time, I even suffered some dog bite wounds, which was scary and painful. Because of my experiences, I’d do best as your one and only pet. Even though I had a rough time, I never stopped loving people. The volunteers at the shelter adored me, and I was one of their favorites. They all knew what a special boy I am. Sadly, I ended up on the euthanasia list simply because I had been there too long. Thankfully, a rescue stepped in and saved my life. I thought my luck had finally changed when I went to a foster home, but then my foster’s father unexpectedly passed away, and she had to move back home and couldn’t keep me. Since then, I’ve been staying in boarding for about two months, patiently waiting for my forever family to find me. I’m neutered, vaccinated, and more than ready to start my next chapter. What I want most is a family of my own—a place where I can finally settle in, be loved, and never have to wonder where I’ll sleep tomorrow. I’ve been waiting a long time for someone to choose me. Maybe that someone is you. I promise to repay you with endless smiles, loyal companionship, plenty of laughs, and all the help you could ever need watering the lawn. I’ll entertain myself chasing my tail when you are busy, and I’ll even bring you a ball back when you throw it! I just need someone to please, give me a chance and I’ll be the goodest boy 😇 Love, Wylie ❤️

Story
Max is very lovable, to the point of jealousy. He is about 3 1/2; I adopted him from Woods Animal shelter in SanLuisObispo , I was a new home owner to 1/2 an acher small house in Atascadero. My spouse and I had a bad falling out, I left the home & we are pending a difficult divorce , and I brought Max with me two months later to Ventura County. I rented a room from someone who loved Max, then I got an apartment. Max needs a yard-he has been clever and a crate stopped working, he likes being in the patio, but screen door needs to be open. He has over powered me at times when he’s been in the house all day. I love him, but he needs training and I don’t have money for that. I have a dog walker for when I work an 8 hour shift. Anyone who gets him will Love him.
