Story
Meet Brian, the brindle Dutch Shepherd who proves not all Brians are the same! Unlike the Simpsons version, this boy is all wiggles, grins, and delightful mischief. He’s the fun-loving, slightly naughty sidekick you didn’t know you needed.Brian is that perfect combo of handsome, intelligent, and loyal—a dog who learns quickly, bonds deeply, and keeps life interesting. He’s a medium-sized adventurer who prefers exploring the world over pursuing any musical ambitions. (Trust us… no rockstar career in this guy’s future. He’s way too busy having fun.)Whether he’s showing off his happy dance, trotting proudly at your side, or flashing you one of his trademark smiles, Brian brings a spark of joy everywhere he goes. He’s ready for hikes, yard play, and all the excitement you can throw his way.If you’re looking for a dog who’s equal parts brainy, bouncy, and bursting with charm, Brian is your guy. Come meet him and let the adventures begin!Brian has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home.  He`s a helper dog in playgroups and loves to play, so he`s brought lots of dogs out of their shell by convincing them to play with him.  He`s also sharing his shelter suite with a friend he met at the shelter.   Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match!  Check out his playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!

Story
Hello! My ex-wife and I adopted Brisket from Front Street Animal Shelter in Sacramento when she was under a year old. She's 5 now and the shelter believes she's a Dutch Shepherd mix. She's fully house-trained, has never had an accident, and doesn’t destroy anything except her toys. Brisket is generally good with people but can get anxious in loud environments (parties, live music, construction) and has nipped at someone before. She barks at outside noises or deliveries with a deep bark, but stops after a few seconds. At home, she’s okay with other dogs as long as they don’t bother her; if they do, she’ll growl or slap them. She also has some leash aggression when approaching other dogs during walks. Brisket is very loving but has always been a bit fearful, though she’s improved over time. She’d likely do best in a calm home with someone who enjoys playing and cuddling.

Story
Balsam is a playful, friendly, and slightly aloof Dutch Shepherd mix puppy with a huge personality (and massive paws to match!).He loves running around and is learning the ropes of puppy life. He's easy to walk and redirect. He understands sit, down, and come commands. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s working on stay, wait, and paw as well as learning hand signals for the same commands. His temperament is mild, affectionate, and curiousâ&#194&#128&#194&#148he's just figuring out life and needs a patient human to help him learn basic manners, engagement, and social skills. He's a loyal, goofy ball of love, ready to grow into a fantastic companion. He would thrive with an older dog sibling to teach him the ways of the world and show him how to be the best puppy ever.Balsam is all about fun, exploration, and friendship, and his massive paws are really just a clue to the even bigger heart inside. If you're looking for a playful, loving, and slightly clumsy puppy with a heart as big as his paws, Balsam's your boy!To make an appointment to meet this lover boy, please to to yoloshelter.org/adopt.January 21, 2026, 6:48 pm

Story
The two photos show how her fur changes color in the Sun versus in the shade. Vivian is the biggest love bug you will ever meet, she adores affection and attention. She lived a very rough life on the streets and was written off by many other rescues as unfavorable because of her advanced abscesses and sexually transmitted cancer that she was facing. The recommendation was to euthanize her. Thankfully her advocate contacted us and with the help with our skilled veterinarian team we were able to save her! She is now ready to start the next chapter in her life cancer free!

Story
Paisley is a loving and devoted girl who just wants to spend her golden years with someone who will shower her with affection. Her greatest joy is being by her human`s side, whether that’s playing in the yard, snuggling on the couch, or simply basking in the comfort of your presence. Paisley has a big heart and is always eager to please, making her a great companion for someone who’s looking for a sweet, low-key dog. This gentle soul can be a bit anxious in new surroundings, but with a patient and understanding home, she will blossom into the perfect companion. Due to her anxiety in unfamiliar spaces, we recommend that any children in her new home be age 10 or older. Paisley has been used to a calm, quiet environment, and will thrive best in a home where she can take her time adjusting and feel safe and loved. Paisley also isn’t a fan of other dogs, so she’ll need to be the only dog in her new home. But don’t worry – she’s more than enough dog to fill your heart and your home! Her well-mannered and affectionate nature will make her the ideal companion for someone who wants a loyal, low-maintenance dog to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. If you’re looking for a calm, loving friend who will reward your patience with unconditional devotion, Paisley just might be the perfect match for you. Give this sweet girl a chance to live out her best days in a home where she’s cherished, and she’ll return the love tenfold! A consult with our management team will be provided to discuss her individual needs.Adoption Price: $150Adoption Fees Waived!

Story
We have had cowboy for a little over a year. we got him from the SPCA at 2 years old with no known history besides roaming the streets. We have two cats and unfortunately he doesn’t get along with them. we’ve done group classes with him and he’s done well but once we get to the streets he is reactive again. overall though cowboy is house trained, listens well, SO SO SO fun to play with and is a great dog. His downfalls are his reactivity to dogs and cats but other then that he doesn’t poop or pee in the house, counter surf, chew on random things. he LOVES his crate and lays in it during the day and sleeps in it at night no problem. he acts like he’s independent but loves following you around.
