Story
Balsam is a playful, friendly, and slightly aloof Dutch Shepherd mix puppy with a huge personality (and massive paws to match!). He loves running around and is learning the ropes of puppy life. This big goof would thrive with an older dog sibling to teach him the ways of the world and show him how to be the best puppy ever. His temperament is mild, affectionate, and curiousâ&#194&#128&#194&#148he's just figuring out life and needs a patient human to help him learn basic manners, engagement, and social skills. Balsam is all about fun, exploration, and friendship, and his massive paws are really just a clue to the even bigger heart inside. He's a loyal, goofy ball of love in training, ready to grow into a fantastic companion. If you're looking for a playful, loving, and slightly clumsy puppy with a heart as big as his paws, Balsam's your boy! All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Story
Hello! My ex-wife and I adopted Brisket from Front Street Animal Shelter in Sacramento when she was under a year old. She's 5 now and the shelter believes she's a Dutch Shepherd mix. She's fully house-trained, has never had an accident, and doesn’t destroy anything except her toys. Brisket is generally good with people but can get anxious in loud environments (parties, live music, construction) and has nipped at someone before. She barks at outside noises or deliveries with a deep bark, but stops after a few seconds. At home, she’s okay with other dogs as long as they don’t bother her; if they do, she’ll growl or slap them. She also has some leash aggression when approaching other dogs during walks. Brisket is very loving but has always been a bit fearful, though she’s improved over time. She’d likely do best in a calm home with someone who enjoys playing and cuddling.

He’s way too busy having fun.)Whether he’s showing off his happy dance, trotting proudly at your side, or flashing you one of his trademark smiles, Brian brings a spark of joy everywhere he goes. He’s ready for hikes, yard play, and all the excitement you can throw his way.If you’re looking for a dog who’s equal parts brainy, bouncy, and bursting with charm, Brian is your guy. Come meet him and let the adventures begin!Brian has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home.  He`s also sharing his shelter suite with a friend he met at the shelter.   Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match!  Check out his playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. Story
The two photos show how her fur changes color in the Sun versus in the shade. Vivian is the biggest love bug you will ever meet, she adores affection and attention. She lived a very rough life on the streets and was written off by many other rescues as unfavorable because of her advanced abscesses and sexually transmitted cancer that she was facing. The recommendation was to euthanize her. Thankfully her advocate contacted us and with the help with our skilled veterinarian team we were able to save her! She is now ready to start the next chapter in her life cancer free!

Story
Xena is a playful, goofy puppy who loves to demonstrate her zoomie technique and then quickly return to you for a tasty treat. She is energetic but has a good off switch inside. She is a bit cautious and prefers to take her time to get comfortable with new things, so time and patience win the day. She will be at her best in a moderately active environment and would do well with other dogs that have a similar play style.

To apply or learn more, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2025/9/28/penny Meet Penny – The Sweetest, Easiest Shepherd Girl Penny has a heart of pure gold. She’s a gentle, kind, and easygoing shepherd who absolutely adores people of all ages. After a rough start in life, Penny has decided that humans are really her favorite – she much prefers the company of people over dogs. Penny isn’t reactive or aggressive toward other dogs and can walk nicely on leash around them. She’s just a bit selective about nose-to-nose greetings and would be happiest as the only dog in the home where she can soak up all the love and attention. She’s a mostly quiet girl who rarely barks, loves to nap, and has a very chill, relaxed vibe… but every now and then she gets a hilarious case of the zoomies! Because of that, a single-story home with carpeting (or lots of rugs) is a bonus for her comfort and safety. Penny truly is one of the sweetest, most easygoing shepherds we’ve met in a long time. Penny’s Perks: • Gentle, kind, and people-focused • Would prefer to be the only dog • Non-reactive on leash around other dogs • Rarely barks – quiet companion • Loves to sleep and relax • Occasional zoomies that will make you smile • Great in the car • Easy to walk on leash • Wonderful, loyal companion Penny is looking for a loving home where she can finally exhale, be cherished, and enjoy a soft bed, gentle walks, and her favorite thing in the world: her person. If you’d like to learn more about Penny or set up a meet & greet, please reach out! She is currently located in Davis, CA. Contact 530-304-7629 for more information! Interested in adopting? Story
Dogs don't come any cuter than Daffodil! Daffodil is an approximately 3-year-old bundle of fun who is eager to find her forever home. She is the sweetest girl who will happily make herself comfy in your lap and cover your face in kisses. We haven't had the heart to tell her she is slightly too big to be a lap dog. Daffodil is fully grown and weighs around 60lbs (although she could benefit from losing a few pounds). Daffodil came to us after she was found as a stray. One of our foster homes agreed to take her in until an owner was found, but an owner never came forward. A couple of weeks after she was found, Daffodil gave birth to 9 puppies! All of her puppies have been adopted, so now it's her turn! Daffodil is a wiggly goofball and loves to explore and go on adventures. Now that she doesn't have to care for her babies, she is ready to enjoy life and soak up all the human attention for herself. Daffodil has been doing great learning her basic manners, and has learned "sit". She is very food-motivated, which makes training a blast. Her new family will need to be prepared to dedicate the time to continue to work on her basic manners to help her be the best girl she can be. Daffodil would do best with someone who has large dog experience, as she is a strong and enthusiastic girl. Daffodil is a moderate-energy gal. When she's at home, she is happy to chill on the couch and enjoy movie marathons, but she also has the energy for long walks and hikes. She loves car rides and hops right in and is ready to go. She loves making new human friends and has been a popular girl at our adoption events. She is quick to cover your face in kisses and will lean into you for a hug. She oozes happiness and can't wait to find her fur-ever family! Daffodil would do best as an only dog or with an easy-going male dog. She needs a kitty-free home. Due to her rambunctious nature, Daffodil would do best with an adult-only home or with kids 12 years or older. Daffodil has been doing very well with her house and crate training. She sleeps through the night in her crate and has done well hanging out in there when her foster mom is at work or gone for a few hours. Daffodil is such a sweet girl, and she deserves her happy-ever-after. If you think that might be with you, submit an adoption application today!   Daffodil's adoption fee is $250.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. August 10, 2025, 6:49 pm
