Story
Hello! My ex-wife and I adopted Brisket from Front Street Animal Shelter in Sacramento when she was under a year old in early 2020. The shelter believes she's a Dutch Shepherd mix. She's fully house-trained, has never had an accident, and doesn’t destroy anything except her toys. Brisket is generally good with people but can get anxious in loud environments (parties, live music, construction) and has nipped at guests before. She barks at outside noises or deliveries with a deep bark, but stops after a few seconds. At home, she’s okay with other dogs as long as they don’t bother her; if they do, she’ll growl or slap them. She also has some leash aggression when directly approaching other dogs during walks. Brisket is very loving but has always been a bit fearful, though she’s improved over time. She’d likely do best in a calm home with someone who enjoys a smart and loving dog.

!!URGENT: DEADLINE FOR ADOPTION OR RESCUE: WEDNESDAY 2/18 @ 5:00 PM!!Meet Brian, the brindle Dutch Shepherd who proves not all Brians are the same! Unlike the Simpsons version, this boy is all wiggles, grins, and delightful mischief. He’s the fun-loving, slightly naughty sidekick you didn’t know you needed.Brian is that perfect combo of handsome, intelligent, and loyal—a dog who learns quickly, bonds deeply, and keeps life interesting. He’s a medium-sized adventurer who prefers exploring the world over pursuing any musical ambitions. (Trust us… no rockstar career in this guy’s future. He’s way too busy having fun.)Whether he’s showing off his happy dance, trotting proudly at your side, or flashing you one of his trademark smiles, Brian brings a spark of joy everywhere he goes. He’s ready for hikes, yard play, and all the excitement you can throw his way.If you’re looking for a dog who’s equal parts brainy, bouncy, and bursting with charm, Brian is your guy. Come meet him and let the adventures begin!Brian has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home. He`s a helper dog in playgroups and loves to play, so he`s brought lots of dogs out of their shell by convincing them to play with him. He`s also sharing his shelter suite with a friend he met at the shelter. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match! Check out his playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. Story
The two photos show how her fur changes color in the Sun versus in the shade. Vivian is the biggest love bug you will ever meet, she adores affection and attention. She lived a very rough life on the streets and was written off by many other rescues as unfavorable because of her advanced abscesses and sexually transmitted cancer that she was facing. The recommendation was to euthanize her. Thankfully her advocate contacted us and with the help with our skilled veterinarian team we were able to save her! She is now ready to start the next chapter in her life cancer free!

Story
Meet Primrose Primrose is as lovely as her name. This sweet, affectionate girl is people-friendly and loves soaking up attention from her humans. She’s the kind of dog who happily leans in for pets and makes fast friends wherever she goes.Primrose is treat-motivated and takes treats very gently, making her a joy to work with. On leash, she may start out a bit strong, but once she’s had some time out of her kennel, she settles in and does much better. A little patience and consistency will go a long way with her.She also has a wonderfully silly side—one of her favorite pastimes is chasing her own tail, which is guaranteed to make you smile. At the shelter, Primrose was previously kenneled with another dog, but due to the stress of the environment, she isn’t able to be paired with other dogs right now. Because of this, she may do best as a solo pet in the home while she decompresses and gets comfortable in a calmer setting.Primrose is ready for a loving home where she can relax, feel secure, and let her sweet personality shine. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with a playful streak, Primrose might just be your perfect match.

Story
Meet Tucker!!Tucker is an affectionate, curious, and energetic boy who’s always ready for his next outing. Confident yet gentle, he loves exploring the outdoors, meeting new people, and enjoying life to the fullest. On his Doggie Day Out, Tucker had an amazing time! The day began with breakfast at Tower Café, where he politely relaxed while enjoying his own burger patty (lucky guy!). Afterward, he hit the trail for a scenic walk before heading to Discovery Park Beach along the American River. Tucker absolutely loved the water, splashing around, sniffing everything in sight, and showing off his playful spirit.Tucker is food-motivated, friendly, and attentive. Once he settles in, he walks nicely on leash and responds well to redirection. He did great encountering kids, staying calm and composed even when a curious toddler surprised him from behind. He may get a little excited at first, but his sweetness and eagerness to please shine through. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will happily join you on hikes, beach days, and cozy evenings alike, Tucker is your guy. He’s a fun, loving, well-rounded dog who’s ready to share life’s adventures, and plenty of snuggles, with his forever family.

Story
Meet Oso!Oso recently headed out on a Doggie Day Out adventure to Old Sacramento, and let’s just say… this boy made the most of his field trip! From the moment he arrived, Oso was FULL of energy and ready to have fun. He started with some time on a big grassy patch where he got to stretch his legs on a long line, and wow, does this guy love fetch! He could have chased that ball all day. While he wasn’t totally sold on dropping it at first, he picked up “drop it” quickly and showed just how smart and food-motivated he is. With a little consistency (and some tasty treats), Oso has all the potential to shine in training.Oso is incredibly affectionate and truly just wants to be everyone’s best friend. He happily accepted pets and cuddles from anyone who offered, including several 2nd and 3rd graders! He was especially sweet when greeting a child in a wheelchair, showing zero hesitation and lots of gentle curiosity. Around kids, he seemed a bit more docile, soaking up attention and leaning in for love. And when we say he leans in… we mean it literally! At one point, Oso leaned his whole body in for cuddles and accidentally knocked his handler over, purely in the name of affection, of course. He just loves being close to his people. On leash, Oso is strong and enthusiastic. He pulls hard when he spots potential new friends because he’s eager to say hello. He can also get a little mouthy when he’s overly excited during play, but it’s all part of his happy, playful spirit and something that can absolutely be worked on with guidance and structure. After a couple of hours of running and playing, Oso showed he can settle down, too. He relaxed nicely on a bench while taking in the sights before heading back to the shelter.Oso is active, affectionate, playful, and thrives on human connection. He would love a home that can match his energy, continue his training, and give him all the pets and cuddles he so desperately adores. If you’re looking for a fun-loving adventure buddy with a big heart (and an even bigger zest for life), Oso might just be your guy.
