Raven is my name and kind of like a raven, I am a 'loner'... except for the puppies i had when I arrived at the rescue... I was saved by a trapper on the streets, they weren't even there to save ME that day, but they did!!! I am obviously a beautiful girl, big and solid as well as black and brindly. I am a loving girl, in my own way... i lived on the streets for who knows how long and I honestly am not a cuddly girl or even a sit by your feet dog, YET... I have all kinds of love to give, you can see in my eyes that I have always dreamed of someone with the patience to love me for who I am and who I can be!! I am great on a leash and do love walking around and exploring. I am good with other dogs and likely would do best with another dog who is calm and confident with his/her family. I am so so ready for you, I have the shepherd double coat so I will shed in your house, must have a great vacuum cleaner and tolerance of hair :) Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)

Meet Kuro! This absolute model of a dog came to Anti Cruelty after his owner sadly lost housing. Kuro has become known around Anti Cruelty for his incredibly calm, unbothered temperament. If only he had aviators and a pool floatie... that would really make his day. But seriously, all jokes aside, Kuro is a really lovely dog, majestic and calm, and he needs a loving, calm home. Kuro has displayed some reactivity towards other dogs on the leash and is a pretty big guy so is looking for a dog experienced home that can help him manage his leash reactivity and be a polite walking companion. Kuro does tend to be very gentle and calm on the leash in shelter, so the behavior could likely be managed easily once he gets used to walking outside again. Think his new home could be yours? "He is easy to care for! Cuddi has been a joy to have at our house. He is so sweet, playful, funny, smart, a constant companion and listens well. Despite his anxiety, he is quite good on his leash and can calmly pass dogs from a distance, only barking if startled by another dog barking first. He does amazing free roaming and sleeping on his own. He met 4 family members within the first 7 days and after his barking welcome, he loves and plays with them all. Cuddi is an incredible companion and if we could, we would have adopted him immediately." - Just a few of many praises sung by Cuddi's foster. Cuddi is a lovable senior shepherd that's been looking for a family since February. He is a Special Care pet due to arthritis and anxiety, which are both well managed with medication. Cuddi should be the solo dog in the home because of his fear towards other dogs. He doesn't let that stop him from enjoying his walks, though, easily practicing skills such "Look at That" to pass right by. Cuddi is smart; he knows sit, eye contact, and down, too, and is potty trained. He still has plenty of heart and play left in him, too, a big fan of fetch and toys. Meet Xena, a gorgeous, gentle girl who wins hearts everywhere she goes. She’s sweet and calm, but also loves a little adventure — fetch, outdoor lounging, and belly rubs are her favorites. She’s fully potty trained, crate trained, great on leash, and knows lots of commands. Xena adjusts beautifully to new environments and matches the energy of the person she’s with. She’s been around crowds, kids, strollers, and busy markets with total ease. She's not the biggest fan of other dogs though, so she'd prefer to avoid those! In her previous home she loved toys (especially Chuck-it balls), though shelter stress has made her a bit quieter here. She’s part of our special care program due to a minor eye injury that may need attention later, but it doesn’t affect her vision or slow her down. If you’re looking for a loving, loyal, easygoing companion, Xena is ready to be your best friend. Xena is spending some much needed time in foster care!
