Story
Wells is a handsome and friendly young Dutch Shepherd dog (born 2023).  He's looking for a new home because his owner is being deployed.  He loves meeting new people, although he may be a little shy at first.  Wells doesn't mind being in his crate when needed.  He is leash trained and knows some commands.   Here's a few things to know about Wells: Active & calm tendencies - he's both depending on his mood Shy around people - it just depends on his mood Kisser - loves to try to kiss people or dogs he already knows Fetches - knows how to do it and does it sometimes Knows some commands - sit, lay down, come, paw Submissive urination - pees when scared or excited Wells is hoping to meet his new person soon!  Please consider taking Wells into your home and making him a part of your family! The suggested adoption donation for Wells is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.   Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.   To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##2595763##

Story
Cayde is the goodest boy. I have been his Mom since he was 8 weeks old. He has always been a bundle of energy! He loves to be right by your side, protecting and sharing your life. He loves to play fetch, likes to be chased, and play tug-o-war. After a divorce, my ex had him for two years. After this experience he needs some extra attention and is more anxious. A lot of the anxiety is crate anxiety. Since we got him back this is much better. Now going into a room without him and closing the door, he will lay right outside (or try to open the door- which he can do!). We are only re-homing him due to city restrictions for our area. He has been fully trained: sit, lay down, shake, and roll over. He has attended formal defensive/protective training, but gets easily distracted and doesn't always do the best with listening. He was raised with cats. He has lived with a few breeds: huskies, yorkies, and australian shepard. Considering his anxiety he should be slowly introduced to new dogs.

Story
Nora is an absolutely gorgeous German Shepherd who is quickly approaching her first birthday!  She is smart as can be, goofy and friendly. Nora is mostly potty trained, kennel trained, walks well on a leash and knows a handful of tricks.  Nora’s ideal home will have a 6 foot fence (she can jump shorter fences) and no cats or apartments. You definitely need a sense of humor to have Nora in your life. She loves to “talk” when she’s playing, play tug of war and bring random things to her kennel to save for later. She enjoys supervising her foster mom cooking by always laying in sight around dinner time. Nora hasn’t been phased by fireworks or storms but Halloween decor is definitely suspicious to her on walks. She has many nicknames like Nora-nucci, Ga-nora, Nora-virus, Nori and she responds to them all! Nora is just about everything you could want in a young German Shepherd and would be a great addition to a loving home.   She was born Feb 17th, 2025 To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $250 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs.   All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.January 12, 2026, 2:48 pm
