Story
Meet Mallory, a stunning Belgian Malinois Mix born in July 2017. Mallory has faced challenges in the past that have made her cautious around people, but this has only made her more appreciative of those who show her kindness. While she may take some time to build trust, her loyalty and intelligence shine through once a bond is formed. Mallory is open to the idea of sharing her forever home with a furry companion or two, with the condition that introductions are done thoughtfully to ensure a harmonious living situation for all. While she welcomes the company of dogs, Mallory prefers to be the sole focus and would thrive in a household without human or feline siblings. Are you prepared to embrace this bright and perceptive girl into your family? Take the first step by submitting your application today and discover the true meaning of loyalty! All dogs adopted through Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue receive the invaluable benefit of lifetime free behavior training from our skilled Positive Reinforcement/Relationship-based trainers. For a seamless and successful transition, Mallory will be enrolled in training sessions at the time of adoption and will continue with scheduled sessions post-adoption to ensure her continued growth and well-being. The suggested adoption donation for Mallory is $250. We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs. If you and the dog are not a good match, we will help you select another dog, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) 'Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?' for additional information. Spyder is a beautiful 1.5 year-old Belgian Malinois boy. Spyder came from a shelter in Oklahoma where he was a staff favorite due to his sweet, playful demeanor, intelligence, and friendliness. The shelter manager reached out to us, as they are forced to euthanize for space, and they were hoping that this fabulous boy could be rescued. Thanks for an amazing, experienced foster who stepped up, were were able to help Spyder.Spyder is a gorgeous young boy who will capture your heart when he buries his head into you for petting and attention. He is the ultimate Velcro dog who will stick close by in everything you do. He would be a great partner for running, hiking, swimming, and going on adventures. Spyder is very smart, loves to learn, and would benefit from continued training. In less than a week, he has learned -and needs to keep practicing- Wait, Sit, Down, Watch, Touch, Leave It, Take It, Drop It, Swing (into Heel position) and is working on his loose-leash walking. As is common with the breeds that we rescue, Spyder can sometimes be a little 'mouthy' when he gets excited. He is working on that, but for that reason, it may be best for him to go to a home with older children. Spyder is dog-friendly. When meeting new dogs, though, he prefers respectful dogs who aren't too much in his face. He is an active young dog who needs an active owner. If you're looking for a cuddly, loyal, adventurous, ride-or-die partner, Spyder is a gem!Like all Belgian Malinois, GSDs and other herding breeds that we have in rescue, Spyder will need training, consistency, boundaries, and lots of activity and socialization, in order to be a well-balanced, well-behaved dog. This sweet boy would make a great addition to an active home that will provide the love, structure, good leadership, activity and mental stimulation that he needs. Because of that, Spyder's ideal owner will have prior GSD, or other similar breed experience. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills and manners. Spyder's adoption fee is $400, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please review the information in the 'About Us', 'Important Considerations' and 'Adopt' sections on our website menu, as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.September 16, 2025, 5:46 pm

Story
Cayde is the goodest boy. I have been his Mom since he was 8 weeks old. He has always been a bundle of energy! He loves to be right by your side, protecting and sharing your life. He loves to play fetch, likes to be chased, and play tug-o-war. After a divorce, my ex had him for two years. After this experience he needs some extra attention and is more anxious. A lot of the anxiety is crate anxiety. Since we got him back this is much better. Now going into a room without him and closing the door, he will lay right outside (or try to open the door- which he can do!). We are only re-homing him due to city restrictions for our area. He has been fully trained: sit, lay down, shake, and roll over. He has attended formal defensive/protective training, but gets easily distracted and doesn't always do the best with listening. He was raised with cats. He has lived with a few breeds: huskies, yorkies, and australian shepard. Considering his anxiety he should be slowly introduced to new dogs.

Story
Nora is a gorgeous young German Shepherd who is growing like a weed! She came into rescue from a local family who had an oops litter and were overwhelmed by the care the litter needed as they grew. Nora came into rescue skinny and pretty scared of new things but she settled in quickly to her foster home and is now looking for her very own forever home.  Nora was born Feb 17, 2025.  Nora LOVES to play and in true German Shepherd fashion anything that can go in her mouth, will go in her mouth. She is teething so she will need a variety of puppy safe toys to keep her occupied and prevent chewing on unwanted things in her new home. She is kennel trained and mostly potty trained but she is still a baby, so she needs supervision and regular potty breaks. Nora currently lives with dogs of varying sizes and is friendly to all of them, but is a little too rough for the small dog so she may do best in a home with dogs that aren’t deterred by large rambunctious puppies.  Nora is not suited for apartments. At this time no cats since she will want to play and chase.   To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $250 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs.   All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.December 9, 2025, 12:18 pm
