Story
I adopted Ghost in June of last year hoping to love him forever. Unfortunately I developed a rapidly progressive illness and have become disabled. We were working on some issues with a professional trainer (he became overly protective of me as I got more sick and has some occasional house issues). He loves to snuggle in bed with his person and has been sweet to me. Currently when other people are around me, he becomes protective (has not bit anyone) but when I am not around he is just lovely, though does have some issues with other dogs due to his past history. He needs someone who can keep up with him and who he doesnt feel like he needs to protect and just have a nice relaxing and fun rest of his life with.

Story
Bella is a young German Shepherd/Lab mix looking for a new place to call home (born appx May 2023).  She is friendly with new people and kids of all ages.  She is active and enjoys running and playing.  Bella would love to be in a home where she is showered with attention and gets lots of pets.  She loves to give kisses! The suggested adoption donation for Bella is $415. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2021 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $307,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $80 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed of neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Ace (b 1/2023) is a handsom German Shepherd who's still very much a puppy.  He needs a family that will be consistent with his training.  He has lived with another dog, however he prefers to get all the attention to himself.  He would love a home with a yard to run around in and get that energy out.  He does well in a kennel but doesn’t like to be in there for long periods of time.  Can you provide Ace with his furever home? The suggested adoption donation for Ace is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Story
Hexa (b 12/2015) is a German Shepherd who is looking for her furever home.  She's a bit of a shy girl who'd prefer a quieter home with people that will keep her active, but doesn't mind when new people come over!  She gets along with older children, but would prefer to be the only pet in the home.  This lovely girl is food motivated, which makes her easier to train, although she already knows basic commands like sit, down, and waiting for permission to walk through doorways.  She's potty trained, crate trained, and completely house trained!   She loves to run and play outside, so a fenced in yard where she can feel safe is a must.  Inside, Hexa loves a quiet spot to call her own where she can go and relax when she feels so inclined.  Because of her shy nature, Hexa is looking for a home that will allow her time and grace to warm up to her new family and learn to trust them.   If you can provide Hexa with the love, time, and affection that she desires, apply today! The suggested adoption donation for Hexa is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Marla (b. 4/2018) is a beautiful German Shepard looking for a patient, consistent owner. She is looking for a home that is able to provide her with stability to help her overcome her fears and help get her on the right track! Marla would love to live in a new home as an only dog but with the proper intro, she could potentially be OK! She is reactive to dogs in general and would need multiple visits with her new adopter. She would, however, do best in a home with no children. Young children and other high strung dogs really stress her out. Marla also needs a 6 foot fence because she can clear a 4 foot fence with no problems. With lots of structure, positive reinforcement, and the help of a trainer, we are confident that Marla will blossom into a great companion. If you think Marla would be a great addition to your family, please fill out an application to meet this sweet girl! Adoptions for Marla are limited to the area within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area so the pet can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainer. The suggested adoption donation for Marla is $250.  We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet.
