Story
Rizzo is a dog's dog. Has never met another dog that he didn't love. He lives for playing with and chasing other dogs. He is a lap dog trapped in a big dog's body. Rizzo is 6 years old but still has plenty of energy. He loves playing kickball in yard but the dog park is his favorite place in the world. Rizzo is very much go with the flow. Will be happy to go on an adventure or have a lazy day on the couch. Rizzo needs a home without young children. Something about their energy makes him anxious. He would like another dog friend in the house but not mandatory. He has never been around other types of pets (cats, birds, etc) but I expect that he would get to know them and respect their boundaries. Rizzo responds to basic commands like sit, crash (lay down) and stay. He can be walked on a leash but he loves being off leash at dog parks even if not fully fenced. He is crate-trained. Rizzo is up to date on all shots. He does not have any special medical/dietary needs.

Story
Nora is an absolutely gorgeous German Shepherd who is quickly approaching her first birthday!  She is smart as can be, goofy and friendly. Nora is mostly potty trained, kennel trained, walks well on a leash and knows a handful of tricks.  Nora’s ideal home will have a 6 foot fence (she can jump shorter fences) and no cats or apartments. You definitely need a sense of humor to have Nora in your life. She loves to “talk” when she’s playing, play tug of war and bring random things to her kennel to save for later. She enjoys supervising her foster mom cooking by always laying in sight around dinner time. Nora hasn’t been phased by fireworks or storms but Halloween decor is definitely suspicious to her on walks. She has many nicknames like Nora-nucci, Ga-nora, Nora-virus, Nori and she responds to them all! Nora is just about everything you could want in a young German Shepherd and would be a great addition to a loving home.   She was born Feb 17th, 2025 To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $250 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs.   All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.September 1, 2026, 4:38 pm

Story
I hope you like my photos, they show my inside German Shepherd and my outside Husky. My mom loves me very much but a lot is changing for her.I used to live with my two cat siblings and their parents until they moved. I used to love spending time in my backyard but now I watch the rabbits from my mom's apartment balcony. I would love to go on walks and go to the dog park but my mom has a new job that keeps her gone on airplanes all the time.My mom knows I'm a good girl because when she's gone, I play with my drop-in babysitter and my toys. I keep my toys together so I don't make a mess around the apartment. My mom hides snacks around the house when she leaves and I always find themAnd obviously, I luv winter (I mean really loooove snow) and summer (especially the laying around inside part). If you're nice and would ❤️ a new pal that is always happy to see you every day, I would like to see if we can be roommates and friends. It would be a big plus if you had a family pack I could join.

Story
Meet Ritz!  Some dogs come into your life quietly… and then become your whole heart That’s Ritz. This 7-year-old Akita mix is the kind of companion who simply wants to be near his people. Whether he’s going for a walk, playing fetch, or relaxing at your feet after a long day, Ritz is happiest when spending time with the humans he loves. Ritz is smart, loyal, kennel and potty trained, and listens well to commands He enjoys structure, understands routines, and truly wants to please the people he trusts. He has a calm confidence about him that makes you feel like you’ve known him forever Like many loyal Akitas, Ritz forms strong bonds and would thrive as the only pet in the home where he can soak up all the love and attention for himself In return, he will give you unwavering loyalty, companionship, and plenty of moments to make you smile Ritz has so much love left to give What he needs now is someone willing to give him the forever home he’s been waiting for. Maybe that person is you!!! The adoption fee is $250* + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  *Part of Ritz' adoption fee has been sponsored by someone who loves him! His adoption is now $150 + tax. We're open from 12-4 PM Tuesday - Saturday! Did you know you don't need to have an appointment to visit our available cats and dogs***? Simply drop by and if you find a potential new furry friend, you can fill out an application on the day you visit. Go to townandcountryanimalrescue.org to fill out our digital application. Applications are typically processed in 3-5 business days.  Once you're approved, you can return on the date and time set up by your adoption counselor, with your family for a meet and greet. If it goes well, you can take your new best friend home on the meet and greet day!  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.   ***Please note that animals in foster homes cannot be viewed at our rescue, and appointments are still required to meet them.  Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Animal Rescue and our mission.  ##954796##

Marla

German Shepherd Dog

Female, 8 yrs 4 mos

Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)

Needs special attention, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Marla (born in April 2018) is an exquisite German Shepherd in search of a dedicated and patient owner. She dreams of finding a loving home that can offer her the stability she needs to conquer her fears and embark on a journey towards a brighter future! While Marla envisions a life as the center of attention in a new household, there is a possibility for her to adjust to living with other dogs given a proper introduction. She may feel anxious around dogs in general and would benefit from multiple visits with her potential adopter. To ensure Marla's peace of mind, it is recommended that she be placed in a child-free environment as young children and highly energetic dogs tend to overwhelm her. Additionally, a secure 6-foot fence is essential as she has the ability to effortlessly leap over a 4-foot fence. With a well-structured routine, positive reinforcement, and the guidance of a professional trainer, we firmly believe that Marla will flourish into a remarkable companion. If you feel that Marla could be the perfect fit for your family, please take the first step by completing an application to meet this endearing sweetheart! Adoptions for Marla are limited to the area within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area so the pet can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainer. The suggested adoption donation for Marla is $250.  We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs. If you and the dog are not a good match, we will help you select another dog, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.
