Story
Cayde is the goodest boy. I have been his Mom since he was 8 weeks old. He has always been a bundle of energy! He loves to be right by your side, protecting and sharing your life. He loves to play fetch, likes to be chased, and play tug-o-war. After a divorce, my ex had him for two years. After this experience he needs some extra attention and is more anxious. A lot of the anxiety is crate anxiety. Since we got him back this is much better. Now going into a room without him and closing the door, he will lay right outside (or try to open the door- which he can do!). We are only re-homing him due to city restrictions for our area. He has been fully trained: sit, lay down, shake, and roll over. He has attended formal defensive/protective training, but gets easily distracted and doesn't always do the best with listening. He was raised with cats. He has lived with a few breeds: huskies, yorkies, and australian shepard. Considering his anxiety he should be slowly introduced to new dogs.

Story
Nora is a gorgeous young German Shepherd who is growing like a weed! She came into rescue from a local family who had an oops litter and were overwhelmed by the care the litter needed as they grew. Nora came into rescue skinny and pretty scared of new things but she settled in quickly to her foster home and is now looking for her very own forever home.  Nora was born Feb 17, 2025.  Nora LOVES to play and in true German Shepherd fashion anything that can go in her mouth, will go in her mouth. She is teething so she will need a variety of puppy safe toys to keep her occupied and prevent chewing on unwanted things in her new home. She is kennel trained and mostly potty trained but she is still a baby, so she needs supervision and regular potty breaks. Nora currently lives with dogs of varying sizes and is friendly to all of them, but is a little too rough for the small dog so she may do best in a home with dogs that aren’t deterred by large rambunctious puppies.  Nora is not suited for apartments. At this time no cats since she will want to play.   To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $250 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs.   All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.November 28, 2025, 10:16 pm

Story
This sweet senior is Rainy (b. 2014), a German Shepard/Lab mix.  She is looking for a place where she can have a stable routine for walking and exercise.  She enjoys being active and a fenced yard is needed so she can stretch her legs.  She is also leash trained.  Rainy is friendly with other dogs, cats, new people and kids.  She would even be okay with a canine or feline sibling!  She prefers men and would like to have another dog or cat around.  Apply today to welcome Rainy into your home! The suggested adoption donation for Rainy is $300, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Marla (born in April 2018) is an exquisite German Shepherd in search of a dedicated and patient owner. She dreams of finding a loving home that can offer her the stability she needs to conquer her fears and embark on a journey towards a brighter future! While Marla envisions a life as the center of attention in a new household, there is a possibility for her to adjust to living with other dogs given a proper introduction. She may feel anxious around dogs in general and would benefit from multiple visits with her potential adopter. To ensure Marla's peace of mind, it is recommended that she be placed in a child-free environment as young children and highly energetic dogs tend to overwhelm her. Additionally, a secure 6-foot fence is essential as she has the ability to effortlessly leap over a 4-foot fence. With a well-structured routine, positive reinforcement, and the guidance of a professional trainer, we firmly believe that Marla will flourish into a remarkable companion. If you feel that Marla could be the perfect fit for your family, please take the first step by completing an application to meet this endearing sweetheart! Adoptions for Marla are limited to the area within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area so the pet can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainer. The suggested adoption donation for Marla is $250.  We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet. Story
Obi is a happy and moderate energy 2 year old German Sheperd (born 2023).  He likes snuggles and sometimes will try to sit with you in a chair. He does hop into bed at night for snuggles, but after about 10 minutes, he jumps down to sleep on the floor. He does not cause destruction in the house, but will try to get into a trash can.  He can be chill, but Obi loves to play.  He’s a great partner to have if you work at home.  He won't interrupt you other than an occasional stop for some pets from you. The perfect home for Obi would be a kid-free home with an experienced German Sheperd owner.  Since he has been around kids, he might be okay with older kids in the house (age 13+).  We're not sure how Obi would be with other animals, so he should be the only dog in the home.  He has not had an opportunity for socialization with another dog.  Obi is leashed trained and does not react to other dogs during his walks. Obi is looking for a forever home with lots of love and attention.  He needs an active home with someone that will help him get daily exercise including walks and play time.  He's also open to additional training in his new surroundings.  Please consider applying to take this wonderful boy into your home!    The suggested adoption donation for Obi is $400.00, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  [Muddy Paws can also suggest a vet with a reduced cost for alters.]  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. ##2527276##
