Story
Sarah is a sweet senior who came to us from an LA shelter where she was scheduled to be euthanized the day we pulled her. She has had a lifetime of untreated ear infections that resulted in two surgeries, with one ear being removed completely. She is now deaf. Despite that, she is an affectionate, sweet and happy girl. She has had a couple of seizures in the past three months and since we are not familiar with her background, we do not know if this is a chronic condition. We are monitoring her though. If you are interested in meeting Sarah, please fill out an application at www.tahoewarf.org and text 775-846-3773.March 13, 2026, 7:19 pm

Story
In Smokey`s youth, he was frequently running stray until he was eventually surrendered by his owner. Smokey is a very smart dog, and when he`s left unattended outside, he finds his way out to make friends. He has even done it to us since being in our care, jumping and climbing over our 10ft fence! While shocking and honestly impressive, we have found he shows no desires to escape when he`s hanging out with a person. Bonus if that person likes to play and throw the ball! Smokey is well behaved in his kennel, and waits patiently for his turn to run in the yard and burn all his energy. He enjoys playing with other dogs of all types and sizes as well! Smokey knows many basic commands including sit, paw, down, stay, place, and has the ground work and the drive to be trained and learn much more! Also, he`s a really great snuggler.

Story
Pie is a beautiful 65-pound German Shepherd/Husky mix with a gentle heart and a resilient spirit. Pie's journey hasn't always been easy. She was surrendered to Boxers & Buddies shortly after giving birth to a litter of puppies when her previous owner could no longer care for them. Once her puppies found loving homes, it was finally Pie's turn to be the one receiving all the love and attention.More recently, Pie was adopted but unfortunately returned when her adopter was unable to move forward with the medical care she needed. She underwent surgery to have a painful eye removed and is recovering beautifully. Pie hasn't let this setback slow her down one bit—she's happy, resilient, and ready to begin the next chapter of her life with a family who will love her just as she is.This sweet, affectionate girl has settled beautifully into foster care. She gets along well with the five resident dogs in her foster home and also lives peacefully with cats. She enjoys encouraging her feline friends to play, so any future cat companions should be comfortable sharing their home with a friendly, playful dog.Like many German Shepherd mixes, Pie is intelligent and enjoys having both her mind and body engaged. While she also appreciates relaxing with her people, she'll thrive in a home that provides daily walks, enrichment activities, training, and opportunities to learn. Without enough mental stimulation, she may become bored and look for her own entertainment—including testing the limits of a fence if left unattended outdoors.Because Pie is a strong, enthusiastic 65-pound dog who is still working on polite greetings, we'd recommend a home with children 5 years or older. With continued positive reinforcement, structure, and consistency, she's already showing what an incredible companion she can be.Pie would thrive in a home that will:❤️ Continue her training and provide consistent guidance.❤️ Offer daily exercise and mental enrichment.❤️ Appreciate a loyal, loving, and intelligent companion.❤️ Give her the fresh start she truly deserves. We require professional obedience training from a certified trainer for ALL adoptions.
