Meet Susye — A Young Girl Ready for a Home of Her Own Sometimes the best dogs have the hardest beginnings. Susye’s second chance began when a Nashville Fire Department EMT realized that the homeless woman caring for her would not be leaving the hospital. He could not bear the thought of this young dog being left with nowhere to go, so he brought Susye home and made sure she was safe. For the past three months, Susye has been living with her firefighter foster dad and his four dogs. She has been a happy, peaceful addition to the family and has settled into home life beautifully. She is crate trained when needed, loves using the dog door, and enjoys spending time in the fenced backyard. Now fully vetted and spayed, Susye is turning 8 months old this month and is ready for a forever home with the stability she deserves. She weighs 43 pounds. We believe Susye may be a Feist, Rat Terrier, or Jack Russell Terrier mix, possibly with some herding breed influence. She is bright, active, affectionate, and eager to be part of whatever is happening. Like many young herding and terrier mixes, she will do best with regular exercise, engagement, and continued training. Although Susye adores her foster dog siblings, they are all older. Her foster dad cannot help but think she would especially love a home with a younger, playful dog companion who can match her energy and enjoy growing up alongside her. Her firefighter foster dad also works 12-hour shifts, and caring for five dogs has become more than he can reasonably maintain long-term. Susye is loved and safe, but this was always meant to be her stepping stone—not her final destination. She would thrive with a family that can give her companionship, consistency, playtime, and plenty of opportunities to use her smart young mind. A securely fenced yard would be wonderful, and another playful dog would be a big bonus. Susye has already experienced more uncertainty than any puppy should. We pulled two pregnant Feist sisters from our local shelter and they had puppies just a few days apart, so we’ve got lots of babies that are available for adoption. These puppies are from the 2nd litter. This adorable litter is made up of seven fun loving and carefree pups. Like most puppies their age, they have plenty of energy and they love to run and play with each other. They also love being around people…they are super friendly, happy and as playful as they can be. They get along great with other dogs & they are good with kids. He and his siblings were actually born here, so you could say that I’ve known them their whole life. Their Mom is a 33 pound Feist mix, but Dad was a traveling man, so not sure what he was. Trey will make some lucky family a wonderful companion. He is 11 weeks old (dob 3/2/26) and weighs 14 pounds at the time of this posting (5/19/26). He has been neutered, microchipped, fecal tested, current on all vaccinations, worming and on heartworm and flea prevention. His adoption fee is $400. Trey is being fostered in Tennessee. Once adopted he will be transported to his pickup location by a professional dog transport company. Our rescue ships to the Northeast area most weeks and his fee includes transportation.

Hello! I was given Bear when he was just a puppy in 2021. He was born April 1st. He’s a nice boy, honestly he does get territorial and aggressive only when he is scared or provoked. I am looking for someone who has worked with dogs (in regards of house training and aggression training). He has never been around other dogs due to the fact that he was attacked by pit bulls and since then he is weary around other dogs. I do have a cat in which he tolerates, when he was a puppy he was also attacked by another outside cat. Disregarding the troubles he has gone through, I know with the right care he’ll be the best boy on the planet and I am truly just looking for a better home that I sadly could not give him. His last shots were in 2022 and he has not been microchipped or neutered because I cannot afford too. He loves to run around and he loves belly rubs once comfortable. I’m not looking for any fee and I don’t want to give him up to a shelter. I can wait however long until he’s safe!
