Story
Meet Susye — A Young Girl Ready for a Home of Her Own Sometimes the best dogs have the hardest beginnings. Susye’s second chance began when a Nashville Fire Department EMT realized that the homeless woman caring for her would not be leaving the hospital. He could not bear the thought of this young dog being left with nowhere to go, so he brought Susye home and made sure she was safe. For the past three months, Susye has been living with her firefighter foster dad and his four dogs. She has been a happy, peaceful addition to the family and has settled into home life beautifully. She is crate trained when needed, loves using the dog door, and enjoys spending time in the fenced backyard. Now fully vetted and spayed, Susye is turning 8 months old this month and is ready for a forever home with the stability she deserves. She weighs 43 pounds. We believe Susye may be a Feist, Rat Terrier, or Jack Russell Terrier mix, possibly with some herding breed influence. She is bright, active, affectionate, and eager to be part of whatever is happening. Like many young herding and terrier mixes, she will do best with regular exercise, engagement, and continued training. Although Susye adores her foster dog siblings, they are all older. Her foster dad cannot help but think she would especially love a home with a younger, playful dog companion who can match her energy and enjoy growing up alongside her. Her firefighter foster dad also works 12-hour shifts, and caring for five dogs has become more than he can reasonably maintain long-term. Susye is loved and safe, but this was always meant to be her stepping stone—not her final destination. She would thrive with a family that can give her companionship, consistency, playtime, and plenty of opportunities to use her smart young mind. A securely fenced yard would be wonderful, and another playful dog would be a big bonus. Susye has already experienced more uncertainty than any puppy should. Now she is ready for the part of her story where she belongs somewhere for good. ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.September 17, 2026, 12:09 pm

MACHO**5 YEAR OLD MALE CHIHUAHUA**COURTESY POSTING MACHO IS BEING FOSTERED IN THE RICHMOND VA AREA. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MACHO, PLEASE GO TO WWW.MOMSVA.ORG AND COMPLETE AN APPLICATION. Macho is a 5-year-old Chihuahua with a big personality packed into a little body. When at home, he's a spunky, curious guy. Macho genuinely enjoys exploring, playing, and being involved in whatever his people are doing. He's very motivated with treats, loves to play and roughhouse, and has a goofy, silly side that makes him a lot of fun to be around. Macho has completed a two-week professional training program and has a great foundation of obedience. He knows commands including sit, stay, and recall. Macho is working on being neutral while on walks and being around other dogs and people. He responds well to clear direction and structure. One thing his future home should understand is that Macho does not like fast-moving things such as bicycles, runners, or similar activity can tempt him to chase. He does well when his handler recognizes this and steps in early to redirect him and let him know that behavior isn't appropriate. Macho would love to be in a home where it is quiet and he can sit with his people and watch tv or relax and is willing to continue reinforcing what he had learned from his trainer. His trainer is willing to work with his new family in helping adjust to his new home. He would not be a good fit for a home with young children who will be running around him. Macho has a ton of personality and a lot going for him. With the right person who understands his quirks and continues the skills he has already learned, he has the potential to be an incredibly fun little companion. If you are interested in Macho, please go to www.momsva.org and complete an application. ***COURTESY POSTING***

Story
Darling Darcy — 8 Pounds of Pure LoveIf you’ve ever wished for a tiny little companion who would happily go wherever you go, curl up in your arms, sleep beside you at night, and make you feel like the most important person in the world, you need to meet Darcy.Darcy is an 8-year-old, 8-pound long-haired Chihuahua with a beautiful face, a lively little spirit, and a heart that is absolutely overflowing with love. She is the kind of girl who wants to be close to her person and would be perfectly content snuggled in your arms or tucked beside you on the pillow at bedtime. She is affectionate without being boring, though—this little lady still has plenty of life and fun in her!Darcy LOVES going for car rides and thinks she should be included in your adventures whenever possible. She also has a hilarious little protective streak and will happily keep watch over the car while you pop inside to run an errand. She is a tiny dog with a surprisingly important job! ❤️What really makes Darcy happy is having a fenced yard. She didn’t have one in her previous home, and now that she has discovered the joy of safely running and exploring at her foster home, she absolutely loves it. Watching this little girl prance around the yard like a miniature pony, stopping to smell the grass and flowers and enjoy the fresh air, is pretty darn adorable. A securely fenced yard—even a small one—is important for her happiness.Darcy is still working on her house manners and is making progress with her foster family. With consistency, patience, and a person who can give her the attention she needs, we believe she will get there. She is a sweet girl who simply needs someone willing to help her succeed.Darcy had a frightening experience in her past when she was attacked by a large dog, and she remains very afraid of big dogs. She does well with other small dogs, but her forever family will need to make sure she is protected from large dogs.Darcy may be 8 years old, but she certainly hasn’t read the memo about slowing down! She is playful, curious, affectionate, and ready to enjoy the good life she deserves. Give this little girl a soft place to land, a fenced yard to explore, and a person to love, and she will give you something far more valuable in return—her whole heart. If Darcy sounds like the little companion you’ve been missing, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com.       PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comSeptember 17, 2026, 12:09 pm

Story
Meet Marvelous Missy! Somehow, this sweet little love bug found herself in a rural Tennessee shelter.   She has come a long way since her stay in the shelter. When Missy arrived, she was a little butterball who desperately needed to lose a few pounds, likely from eating too much people food. After a couple of months with Miss Peggy, Missy has regained her girlish figure and is now ready to find her forever family.   Missy is 8 years old and now weighs only 10 lbs. She is very proud of her accomplishment and would love a family who will help her maintain her healthy weight. Missy enjoys going for walks, so keeping her in shape should be easy. This little lady will trot happily along, taking in all the sights and sounds. She’ll make an excellent exercise buddy.   Missy never meets a stranger—she adores everyone, including people, other dogs, and even cats. She is a happy-go-lucky girl who will fit in anywhere. If you don’t know your neighbors or are new to a neighborhood, Missy will make sure you meet everyone.   When she’s not out on a jaunt, Missy loves to snuggle up next to you. She is always ready to read a book or watch a movie. You can’t go wrong by adding this sweet girl to your family. To learn more about Missy and the adoption process, please email Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com or text 615-943-7311. An approved application and adoption fee are required. Missy is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.September 17, 2026, 12:09 pm
