Story
Bowie is a stunning 5-year-old cocker spaniel mix with fashionable feathers in his otherwise glossy coat. He's a bit bigger than the typical cocker kid, weighing in at ~40 pounds, making him the perfect sturdy companion for life's adventures. Bowie does well with other dogs, but cats are a no-no, as he loves to chase them.Bowie is leash-trained, a great eater, and loves carrying around his stuffed babies. He settles beautifully in his crate when left alone—but during active times, he loves to do zoomies and show off his sporty side. If you’re looking for an athletic hunk with rock-star charm, Bowie’s your boy.Interested in Adoption? Our adoptions require an approved application, which can be found on our website. Story
Meet Peanut Butter! We call him Nutty for short, and boy, does he live up to it! He’s a furry little 25lb. bulldozer of cuteness who gets the zoomies just because he loves his humans so much that he can’t contain it. He’s about 5 years old, confident, silly, curious, full of energy, and a shameless cuddle bug. He would love nothing more than to be in your personal space 24 hours a day, unless he can jump the fence and go exploring, because that’s his second-favorite thing in the whole world. He is cat-friendly, but must be reminded to be gentle with them. He has not been very dog-friendly so far. He needs a forever home with a large fenced yard and some firm training. Once you belong to him, he’ll show you the kind of devotion you never knew you’d been living without!Interested in adoption? Story
It's Brady! We'll start with how cute this 4-year-old, 22-pound love bug is. Brady came to us with some medical needs that were pretty easily fixed. He was quite discombobulated at first, but once he's comfortable in his new home, his personality shines. In short, we know he can be a nervous boy and will need to decompress after a change until he feels that all is well.He is quite sure that all is well in his foster home - so much so that he doesn’t want to leave. Want to try and convince him that there is a home in Austin with a fun dog (or dogs) for him to play with? He will need patience and time to learn to trust in his new home. Meet him and show him how!Brady is not only ridiculously handsome, but he is also very sweet, responsive, and eager to please. He LOVES his person and stays close. He is a world-class snuggle bug and loves to sleep with his foster mom and his foster brothers, with whom he gets along great. He is not destructive of his toys, or shoes (which he proudly carries around), or the house. Some outside experiences, like going to the vet, are not his fave. It's all about reading his cues and knowing how to manage them. Everything is new to him, so patience and a gentle, experienced hand will teach this sweet boy to trust--nothing more rewarding than winning that love!Interested in adopting Brady? Story
Meet adorable & adoptable: Birdie. You know, some people LOVE the hustle and bustle and Joy to the World of the holidays and some of us are more like Birdie--we need more of a Silent Night. Birdie is a pretty 3 year old who would do best in a calm home with active adults. She herself is a playful girl and loves her toys! And she would make use of a backyard of her own to zoom around and get her energy out. She gets along fine with other playful dogs that are her size but don't tell the reindeer: she's not a fan of big dogs. Birdie needs someone who understands that she needs time to get to know new people. She's not one of those girls you can just take out to the patio at a restaurant or bar--that would be her social nightmare--all those hands reaching to pet her--NO THANKS. But when she's at home with her person, she's a snuggler and happy to sleep right next to you like a warm little breathing blanket. Those puppy dog eyes don't lie, she's a sweetie. Birdie says to also tell you that she is housetrained and will teach you her schedule, so there is NO need to put her in that stinking crate and if you do she will sing the song of her people loudly and for a long time. ( homes with shared walls may not be the best fit). We think Birdie's perfect match is out there: someone who is also an introverted homebody that likes to cuddle. If you think that's you, you can find our application on our website! Already filled on out and been approved? Email us at woof@austincockerrescue.org Remember we adopt to within the state of Texas.
