***Blue and Elvis is BONDED and they NEED to be adopted together!***Meet Blue and Elvis!These two boys came to PCHS from an impound when they were surrendered to an impound when their owner could no longer care for them. The love these two boys have for each other is remarkable. They love to be together and need to be adopted to the same home to keep them happy and healthy. These two are little confused being in shelter as they have lived in the same home together since they were pups. Since they have lived in a home, these two are fully potty trained and appear to be crate trained. They have not been cat tested but seem like they would do okay with other dogs and kids. Blue, who is thought to be some sort of lab mix, is about 5 years old. He has the most striking blue eyes and an inquisitive nature! He absolutely loves his snackies and will do anything for a treat. He seems to know some basic commands like `sit` and `shake`. Elvis, who appears to be an Aussie mix, seems to be a little bit older than Blue and is around 6 years old. Elvis has a more calm demeanor about him. He is also food motivated but he takes his snacks a little more gingerly than his brother. Elvis likes to be close to people and enjoys cuddling right up next to you, or better yet, in your lap!Both these boys are completely vetted and ready to start looking for their new forever home. This sweet pair is hoping their stay with us can be short! If you think your home could be a good match for these two, apply online today! Story
Ziegler (Ziggy) is a sweet, curious guy who loves being wherever his people are. True to his Shepherd side, he enjoys keeping you company and will happily follow you from room to room just to be part of the action. He does great free-roaming the house when his fosters are out, but he can also settle nicely in his kennel after about 10 minutes if needed. Ziggy absolutely loves being outside—walks, playtime, and exploring are some of his favorite things. Because of how much he enjoys being outdoors, a fenced yard is a must for him. Ziggy loves other dogs and would be happy to have a canine buddy to play with. However, he cannot live with cats. He would do best with kids 4 and up. Ziggy is a friendly, enthusiastic boy who sometimes forgets how big he is when he gets excited, but his heart is always in the right place. His fosters have started working on training and manners with him, and he’s been doing well! His future family should be ready to keep building on that progress—either continuing training at home or working with a trainer to help him become the best boy he can be. When the day winds down, Ziggy’s favorite place is right next to you (or on you). He’s convinced he’s a 72-lb lap dog and loves nothing more than a good snuggle. Story
Saison is about 2 years old and already has an incredible story of resilience. She showed up at a home in northern Kansas, had a litter of puppies, and during her spay it was discovered she was heartworm positive. She bravely went through treatment and is now finished, happy, and ready for her forever family. Despite everything she’s been through, Saison has shown us glimpses that she may have once been someone’s beloved pet. She: - Walks nicely on leash (though she’ll need practice when seeing other dogs). - Hops right into the car and LOVES going for rides 🚗 - Is crate trained and housebroken - She does have a recall, she currently lives on 8 acres and will stick around unless a bunny or cat runs by. - Loves cuddling up in bed with her humans 🛏️💞 - Saison is wonderful with kids and adores people. She does well with most dogs, especially medium to large males, and would be happy in a home with or without another dog. ⚠️ A few things to note: - She cannot live in an apartment or townhome and that is because of her reactivity on a leash. She does have some leash and barrier reactivity that will need continued training. - She cannot live with cats or chickens. She was brought into our rescue because she killed chickens and she will try to kill the farm cat. She shouldn't be with small dogs, mainly because her pray drive is so intense we want small dogs to be safe. - Saison has been out and about on Mayo Clinic grounds, she's met staff and patients and loves them. Saison truly is a lover and while her barrier/leash issues need work, she is a sweet, sweet dog. 👉 As part of her lifelong care, Saison will need to remain on monthly heartworm preventatives and have yearly heartworm tests.
