Story
Meet Gypsy! She is a new pup on the block here at PCHS. She was transferred to PCHS from another rescue partner. Gypsy is a young lab mix who was given a very rough start to her life. She is one of the many dogs we see with a very sad history. Unfortunately, she lived in an unsafe situation where she was not being cared for. She regularly got into unsafe substances that required medical attention, and she has a bowed front leg that was left to heal on its own after she was hit by a car. Regardless of her previous battles, Gypsy has come out on top! And today, you would never suspect all the things she's been through. She is a very happy and bouncy girl that thrives with attention, loves her toys, and is just excited about life! She has so much love to give and she can't wait to find her own person to love her back. She has done well with dogs in the past and will likely do well with a dog in her adoptive home. It is unknown if she has lived with cats. She seems like she would do well with kids, but she will need some training to learn "four paws on the floor" so she does not knock people over with her enthusiasm. If she sounds like a perfect match for you, please apply today!Adoption fee $350, plus $30 microchip fee + tax

Story
Hi everyone! I'm Ziegler! People tell me I am a fun loving, goofy guy. I mean, what's not to love about life. I feel I am happy all the time, liking to romp around, play with toys, and hang out with my humans. Gosh, I also love to run around outside, exploring and such. Have no fear though, I am super loyal to my owners, so I would be good off leash, it may just take me some time prior for me to trust you and form a bond. You see my previous owner dumped me and I was found by a nice man that worked at Ziegler all cuddled up to his house. Crazy huh? Well that's my back story. Do you want to help write my future store. I am a happy guy as I said, just looking for a family to love me. I don't potty in the house, and I honestly don't mind being in that wire thing, I think it's called "kennel. With how much I love to be outside and run, my ideal adoptive home would be with land for me to run or a fenced in yard in town. That way I can stay safe. Thanks for listening. Hope to meet you soon! Story
Meet Paisley, a six-year-old yellow English lab who's sweeter than honey. She is around 80-90 lbs Paisley came to us as a breeder release and is understandably unsure and a bit nervous. She's slowly coming around and learning what life is like outside of being bred repeatedly. Stairs are a bit of a challenge for her, but with help and a bit of patience, she tackles them like a champ. Though she's overweight, she appears malnourished in other ways, so a healthy diet and exercise will help her thrive. Paisley loves to cuddle, go on walks, play with her doggy friends, and enjoy treats. She loves all people and gets along well with cats and dogs. She free roams at her foster's house when they're not home and has never caused trouble. Paisley gets spayed on Tuesday May 21 and can go home later that week if recovering fine with the spay. Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Adoption fee is $300 plus tax.

Story
Very sweet, calm, gentle, male boxer lab mix. Great with kids of all ages and big dogs. Likes to chase smaller animals. Needs a fenced in yard. He is trained on an electric fence, but currently lives with a physical fence. He is great with harness on/off, clipping nails, leash, walks, doesn’t like water (I was told by original owner but haven’t seen this myself) has never had an accident in the house in his 4 years. He is very good in a crate but doesn’t like to go in unless there’s a treat. Uses a doggy door. He’s very polite around others food human or pet. He is not treat food or toy possesive. Good on walks. Doesn’t mark his territory. He will want to chase a rabbit squirrel or anything that looks like one. He is protective of his home so will need to be introduced to other pets outside first. He’s pretty quiet. He will bark a couple times if he hears another dog bark or if he sees a dog walk by out the window. But otherwise no barking or noise.

Story
Meet Bourbon! He's a 6-year old chocolate lab who has spent the first part of his life breeding in a puppy mill. He's now ready to enjoy all that comes with a loving home of his own. All the information described below is very common with breeder surrender dogs and with a little patience and time these dogs typically blossom into wonderful pets. He just came into rescue so we're still getting to know him. So far he's very sweet and calm. He loves other dogs and does well with them. He seems to want to play with other dogs. He is timid with people but is friendly. He will take treats from you and approach you for pets but just has to be at his own pace. Another dog in the home is not required but a friendly, confident dog will likely help him acclimate and come out of his shell more quickly. It is unknown how he would do with cats. He will probably be good with kids but right now he's pretty unsure of quick movements and sudden noise so at this time we don't recommend a home with small children. He doesn't play with toys too much yet. He LOVES the doggy pool at his foster mom's house so would definitely like a family who would take him swimming. Maybe a cabin dog? He does ok on a leash but is not ready for walks yet. He is getting used to things like going up and down steps. Right now he would do best in a fenced in yard but probably would also be fine on a long, secure tie out in a quiet yard. Any adopter should not assume he would be ok free roaming or quickly trained to an electronic fence any time soon. Those may be ok solutions for him down the road but will take some time to get there. He's a nice medium size - around 50lbs. Seems to be on the smaller side for a lab. He seems to be potty trained and doesn't have accidents inside when let out regularly. He does ok when he is in a kennel or crate but does not willingly go in one yet. Because he's pretty nervous in general, we aren't forcing this right now but will probably do ok with kennel training once he's comfortable in a home with his people. He will be getting neutered on 5/23 and assuming all goes well he should be ready to go home on or after 5/25. Adoption Fee $300 plus tax Apply to Adopt: www.campcompanion.org

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sonya came to the shelter from the city pound when her hold was finished and no one had claimed her. She appears to be around a year old and looks like a black lab/pit bull type mix. There could be some other breeds in there, too. She's very loving and full of enthusiasm. She has been vet checked and spayed and her fee is $150. Sonya does know how to sit (most of the time) but will most likely need some basic training. She is a very energetic young dog who will require regular exercise. We do think she would do well with other dogs (males preferably). We have no way of knowing about cats. Kids over 5 would be best as she is very bouncy and needs training. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Please keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 24, 2024, 8:32 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Owen is a pint sized mixed breed puppy who came to us as an owner surrender. He's around 8-9 weeks old. We think there could be some lab, dachshund, pointer, and who knows what else in his mix. Don't hold us to the breed mix, though, we're playing breed roulette with him. Owen has received his first puppy shot, a microchip, and a clean bill of health from the vet. We will need to coordinate the remainder of his basic vetting with his new owner. His fee is $150 does include all basic vaccinations when old enough and his neuter when he's old enough. Owen will need a lot of basic training in all areas. He's a puppy and a blank slate right now. He's a pretty vocal little dude, too, so might not be the best fit for apartment life. We're thinking that he would do well with another dog and probably cats, too (if they can tolerate the puppy energy). Kids over 5 would be best as he does have a lot of puppy behavior and is on the small size. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Story
I'm Scout everybody! I am a 6 year old German Shorthair Pointer mix that came to PCHS from another rescue partner who pulled me off a euthanasia list. Now I'm here at PCHS and ready to start my new life and find myself the perfect family. Seeing as my whole life was turned upside down, I am a little anxious here. That doesn't get me too down though and I am hopeful I will feel more comfortable in my own home.I seem to do well with other dogs, I have buddy I hang out with here at the shelter. I have not been cat tested at this time. Typical to the hound nature, I can be very vocal at times and I will loudly let you know my likes and dislikes. Some of my likes include... going for walks, getting pets, eating some tasty treats, and singing the song of my people. Some of my dislikes are... riding in the car and being alone. If I sound like I would be the perfect fit for you, please apply today! Applications can be found on the homepage of our website or you can stop in to fill one out in person. Once you submit your application, a staff member will process it and then contact you to set up an appointment to meet me. ***I really benefit from having another dog around. I will need to have canine sibling in my new home***My adoption fee is $350 + $30 microchip fee + tax.
