Meet Cosmo This adorable guy has the spunk and spirit of a typical pup. His mom was unfortunately run over and he had to have a little help being bottle fed until able to eat on his own. You would not know it by looking at him or in his glowing personality. Cosmo is always up for a romp during playtime. He is also one of the sweetest snugglers. Cosmo has grown to adoption age in the same wonderful household and his foster mom would love to give you all the details on his daily life. Cosmo is well socialized and would do great in a home with or without dogs and/or with or without children. If you are looking for a dedicated family companion, you can’t go wrong with this cutie. Once adopted, Cosmo will transport with Rescue Vet Transport to his new forever family (additional $185). If you would like to give him a life time of belly rubs please follow the link below to our adoption application. Please note, our volunteer team works very hard and they are very responsive so please submit your application only when you are ready to welcome your new furry friend. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
Griffon is ready to take the next step to becoming a forever pup! There is no other pup that more enthusiastic or eager to make friends. This boy ran off of the transport van greeting everyone with hugs and kisses. He is a very happy boy outgoing boy. Although he is a year old you may confuse Griffon with a 6 month old puppy due to his size and mannerisms. Griffon is 30lbs and listed as a spaniel mix, but he very much resembles a tiny Newfie. His manners steal leave a lot to be desired. He is jumpy, mouthy and 100mph when he first greets new friends. Griffon loves other pups and would be an ideal playmate for a young active pup like himself. While he wants to be friends with the kitties Griffon comes on a little too strong for their liking, and is still learning that they do not like to be chased. If you are looking for a happy, friendly, bouncy outgoing pup Griffon could be the one for you. Email today Jonesm4318@gmail.com today to meet this happy go lucky boy!

Story
Meet Bart! Bart is a 3-year-old Flat-Coated Retriever (62 lbs) who is up to date on all vaccines and currently working on building confidence through training. He has a sensitive nature and can be unsure of new people at first, so slow, structured introductions are essential for him to feel safe.  While he does well with dogs, we are looking for a home where he will be your only puppy love. Because of this, Bart is looking for an *experienced* adopter who is committed to participating in training sessions before bringing him home, so he can build trust gradually. His trainers will also support the transition to set both Bart and his adopter up for success. Bart would do best in a calm, suburban or country home with adults only. Once he feels comfortable, this fella is incredibly loyal and forms a strong bond with his person. With patience, consistency, and continued training, he will make a deeply rewarding companion. Bart can’t wait to meet you!  He is waiting in boarding for his perfect forever home.  He is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. To foster to adopt Bart apply at www.peace4paws.org/foster-application on a laptop or computer. If you have specific adoption or foster questions, please email: judy.atchison@yahoo.com THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN RESCUING A DOG! Story
It isn't often that you will find a rescue dog who is eligible for Canine Good Citizen certification! This well-trained fellow is ready to meet his new family, but we will let him tell you a little about himself first. "Hey y'all, I'm Sky, a 2-year-old Retriever/Border Collie mix with legs that were made for running and a heart that was made for loving. If you are looking for a buddy to join you on morning jogs, weekend hikes, or games of fetch, I'm your guy. I have energy to burn, but I’m super smart and already know how to sit and stay, and much more. After a fun day out, I’ll happily curl up at your feet while you watch TV. I’d love a home with a fenced yard to zoom around in!" Like many dogs who come from less than ideal backgrounds, this sweet love muffin came to us as a diamond in the rough. Thus, we sent Sky to a professional trainer who has taught him to become the best dog he can be! He is SUPER SMART and has mastered his commands quickly. He walks very well on the leash, and his adopter will be able to communicate with the trainer once Sky is home. With some dedication to exercise, consistency, and discipline, his adopter will find the Sky's the limit with this wonderful guy! Check out Sky working with his trainer in his video! Sky has fun energy and is a terrific retriever. As soon as he sees a toy, with his favorites being balls, he tries to catch them in mid-air. He usually brings it back, but sometimes he wants to play keep-away like a silly guy and will eventually drop the ball so he can retrieve it again. Sky loves playing with his buddy, Stuart, but he can be dog selective, so we are seeking a home for him where Sky can be someone's one and only. Perhaps when he settles in his new home, his adopter will find play dates for Sky with dogs he likes. Our volunteer in AL, shares, "Sky loves treats, likes to be petted, and enjoys rolling in the grass. The more time I spend with Sky, the more kissy and affectionate he has become! I'm very fond of Sky-guy! He will make a terrific companion for active owners." Sky is estimated to be about 2 years of age and weighs around 55 lbs, but could use a few more pounds on his frame. He has been neutered, brought up-to-date on vaccination, and microchipped. Sky is heartworm negative and has been given a Proheart-6 injection for 6 months of heartworm prevention. Sensational Sky will be headed north in mid-June to be directly adopted. If you are approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Cheryl Kewley to be considered to adopt this adorable fellow. If you are not yet approved, visit our website to fill out an application. Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to take on whatever comes with the dog. It is up to YOU to continue the rehabilitation we have begun. This is what it means to rescue. _____ What is a Canine Good Citizen? Canine Good Citizen is a training program through the American Kennel Club. It’s a test made up of 10 skills that teach good manners for dogs and responsible pet ownership for humans. The skills to pass on the test are practical, functional behaviors every dog can learn, and any dog can participate. The 10 Canine Good Citizen requirements: Accepting a friendly stranger Sitting politely for petting Appearance and grooming Walking on a loose leash Walking through a crowd Sitting or laying down on cue and staying in place Coming when called Reaction to another dog Reaction to distraction Supervised separation If not yet approved for adoption, please visit our website to learn more and to submit an online application. Click here to visit our website. Please contact us with any questions regarding your application status. PLEASE APPLY by submitting an application via this online link: Click for Adoption Application About Our Rescue Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed. Pupperoni IS a treat!! This gorgeous shiny and wavy black haired beauty has lots of energy and plenty of fancy moves, ready to go!! She is a very social girl that showed up at an apartment complex as a young pup and has been passed around the complex ever since. She grew into a large dog (and syill needs to fill out) with a lot of energy and finally somebody spoke up and asked Rescue to find her a more appropriate home than a small apartment. She pulls on a leash but knows how to listen and can walk well with just a little bit of training. She is good in a crate and currently live with cats! She loves everybody she meets and would make an excellent running partner or agility dog. She is very loving and very easy to take care of, love, loves her baths, and nails trimmed— she gets treated like it’s a spa day! Looking for an active lifestyle for this girl who could log many miles with you. She can learn to be off leash as the border collie in her leads her to run out and then circle back and check on you.
