Finn – Ready to Love and Be Loved
Hi, I’m Finn! I’m a big, handsome boy—about 100 pounds—with a heart just as oversized as my frame. I’m full of energy, curiosity, and a growing eagerness to learn. I’ve made huge progress in my foster home, and now I’m looking for a forever family who will keep helping me grow with patience, structure, and love.
Life wasn’t always easy for me. I came from a home where I didn’t get the socialization or training I needed, and there were young children who didn’t always understand my boundaries. Because of that, I developed some resource-guarding behaviors and got uncomfortable when handled suddenly. But everything has changed since coming to my foster home. With consistent, kind training—led by a veterinarian who specializes in animal behavior—I’ve started to blossom into the affectionate, responsive dog I was meant to be. I’ll do best in a home with kids 14 and older who can respect my space and understand my cues.
These days, I walk beautifully on a leash (especially with my Gentle Leader Headcollar), take treats gently, and even enjoy getting pets while I eat. I’ve learned to “Sit” and “Stay” for things I want—sometimes I even sit before I’m asked because I’m trying so hard to be good. I’m crate trained, I love chew-resistant toys, and I’ve adjusted well to the elderly dogs in my foster home. I haven’t met their cats up close yet, but I’m getting less reactive when I see them from a distance.
My perfect home would include:
Positive-reinforcement training to keep me on the right track
Someone willing to stay in touch with my foster family for support during my transition
Daily walks and playtime so I can burn off my energy
Slow introductions if you have another dog
Lots of sturdy chew toys
A patient, loving environment where I can keep becoming the best version of myself
I’m a quick learner with a goofy streak. I get excited meeting new people and sometimes I get the zoomies, which leads to bouncing around, jumping on furniture, or hopping up to say hi. I’m improving every day—just typical young-dog stuff that I’m working hard to master.
I’ve come a long way, and I still have so much love to give. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s eager to grow, learn, and share a lifetime of affection, I might be your perfect match. My foster parent, a veterinarian with experience in animal behavior, is happy to help you with my transition and ongoing training.
I can’t wait to meet the person or family who sees the good boy I’m becoming.
