Story
Our pup Lavender is a petite cutie that we think may be a mix of Hounds. Her Mama, Enjolie was found as a country stray in North Carolina, where she spent a few days in an underfunded rural shelter. Despite a massive push to transport Enjolie to our Canterbury, Connecticut Rescue before her whelping date, Enjolie had 9 puppies in the Shelter on 2/24/24. Enjolie has a gentle temperament and outgoing personality that she has passed on to her adorable puppies. She appears to be an American Foxhound, and her puppies look like tricolor Treeing Walker Coonhounds. We have DNA tested the puppies, and should have results soon. Puppies are likely to be large dogs, 40 to 50 pounds. Now seven weeks old, Lavender is a total sweetheart, with a neutral temperament. She loves all people, and has sailed through the rescue process with a healthy curiosity about new people and situations. Lavender plays gently with other dogs, and would thrive in a multi-dog home, with other gentle, playful dogs.  As a working breed, Hounds need a good deal of exercise and mental stimulation to maintain good behavior. Lavender does not have over the top puppy energy, but she does need a couple brisk leash walks each day to get her yayas out.  Lavender would be an excellent choice for an experienced puppy-savvy adopter, willing to commit to ongoing training and socialization. She would do well with an active couple or family with older kids, who can play gently with a young dog. We think Lavender could be easily raised with cats.  So far we have seen a sweet personality and balanced temperament in Lavender and we seek an adopter willing to raise her as a Canine Good Citizen. She is in excellent health, and has been vaccinated as appropriate for her age. Lavender and her siblings will be ready to go to their new homes on 5/11/24 at 12 weeks old. If you are interested in Lavender, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.

Barney is an affectionate, sweet boy. Probably not a year old and loves to play. He has that wonderful hound voice but he's not obsessive with it. He does well with other dogs, he's not familiar with cats but plays to hard with chickens. He's very smart and has learned a few basic commands. He would be a loyal companion for a little love. For more information on Barney and our adoption process please enclose your phone number with your inquiry or call Jacki at 941-587-4612.  May 2, 2024, 11:54 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. KELLER was saved from a kill shelter in Louisiana and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 10 October 2023. KELLER is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch.He has an estimated date of birth of May 2023 and on 26 October 2023 weighed around 60 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue     YouTube channel     and     photo albums on our Facebook page     to see a LOT of pictures and videos. KELLER is a big, affectionate love bug who cannot look at anyone without waggling his bum which wags his body.  He loves to play and charge around with his other dogs friends, but can be very calm and gentle with people.  He has been around adults of all ages, shapes and sizes, small children and people with special needs and was gentle and loving.  He is responsive and can be a little shy on occasions, he has been out on adventures and came on our December outing to Bissell Brothers Brewery where he had a great time. He does need an active family who will ensure he gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that he needs to live a happy fulfilling life. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. KELLER is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a  reduced adoption  fee of $100. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats. Story
Sam is a southern boy with a definite southern drawl. Once he has found a trail of something in the yard you may hear that distinctive hound bay! Sam is an American Foxhound thru and thru and follows his nose. He loves a fenced in yard where he can chase squirrels, find big sticks, and run at full tilt! Walks and hikes are his second big love-all those smells and new things! Leash required tho as he'd be happy to follow those scents wherever they go. He is social with other dogs but would like to be the only love in your life at home. What would Sam want in his new home? He'd like to be the only animal in a dog understanding older teen/adult home. He would not do well in a condo or an apartment. He uses his crate for sleeping or just for resting when he'd prefer to be quiet and not disturbed. -he can be a reserved gentleman. A fenced in yard is a must as he loves, loves being outdoors! And, he would like you to know that he is not fond of the rain or loud noises. Sam is 6 years old, 60 lbs. He is crate trained (brings his crate with him to his new home), is micro-chipped and that can easily be transferred to a new owner.
