Story
Our pup Lavender is a petite cutie that we think may be a mix of Hounds. Her Mama, Enjolie was found as a country stray in North Carolina, where she spent a few days in an underfunded rural shelter. Despite a massive push to transport Enjolie to our Canterbury, Connecticut Rescue before her whelping date, Enjolie had 9 puppies in the Shelter on 2/24/24. Enjolie has a gentle temperament and outgoing personality that she has passed on to her adorable puppies. She appears to be an American Foxhound, and her puppies look like tricolor Treeing Walker Coonhounds. We have DNA tested the puppies, and should have results soon. Puppies are likely to be large dogs, 40 to 50 pounds. Now seven weeks old, Lavender is a total sweetheart, with a neutral temperament. She loves all people, and has sailed through the rescue process with a healthy curiosity about new people and situations. Lavender plays gently with other dogs, and would thrive in a multi-dog home, with other gentle, playful dogs.  As a working breed, Hounds need a good deal of exercise and mental stimulation to maintain good behavior. Lavender does not have over the top puppy energy, but she does need a couple brisk leash walks each day to get her yayas out.  Lavender would be an excellent choice for an experienced puppy-savvy adopter, willing to commit to ongoing training and socialization. She would do well with an active couple or family with older kids, who can play gently with a young dog. We think Lavender could be easily raised with cats.  So far we have seen a sweet personality and balanced temperament in Lavender and we seek an adopter willing to raise her as a Canine Good Citizen. She is in excellent health, and has been vaccinated as appropriate for her age. Lavender and her siblings will be ready to go to their new homes on 5/11/24 at 12 weeks old. If you are interested in Lavender, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.

Story
Meet June Bug a medium sized, 47 pound foxhound mix at just 9 months. She is so darn cute with those long floppy ears, alert eyes, and a black nose. Her tri color coat adds to her appeal. And another plus: She loves everyone she meets! She is estimated to be a large sized gal of over 50 pounds when full grown. Foxhounds have great personalities: even-tempered, gentle, affectionate and love to be around people as much as possible. They are active and curious (as hound dogs, they love to have their nose to the ground). Oh, and do not forget their famous barks! She is comfortable around other canines, adults, and kids. It is not known if she has met a cat. As to training, it is best to start with a refresher course in crate, house, and leash training. Jue Bug will need the right guidance mixed with consistency, repetition, and patience. Cheerful praise and lots of treats will go a long way in helping her master those daily routines. It will be worth the time and effort!Having established a bathroom routine (always after eating, playing, sleeping, and before bedtime), been given lots of attention and exercise, she will be ready to be introduced to her new crate which must be a cozy, warm, and positive place. In the beginning she will only use it for short periods of time. Eventually, the time can be increased based on her comfortableness with this second home, maybe up to 4 hours. Several daily short (30 minutes) walks will support leash skills as well as socialization skills. It will be a new world to her with all the new sights, smells, sounds, and people along her walk. A secure back yard would be a plus as it would give her free time to play and burn off energy. Please note that she cannot be a running companion before the age of one when her growth plate closes. At home she would benefit from lots of attention and mental stimulation in the form of activities and play toys. That will keep her from being bored. Are you willing to take on the task of helping her transition to a new life where she is loved and appreciated? If yes, read on.The adoption fee for Jung Bug is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.April 29, 2024, 9:17 am

Story
Meet Sable! This gorgeous gal is a 11 month old shepherd/lab mix. She is fully vaccinated, spayed, and currently weighs 68 lbs. Sable is shy, docile and very sweet beyond her reserved exterior. Her mom and siblings were found under abandoned house and rescued by a neighbor when they were 12 weeks old. The neighbor has fostered all the dogs and only 3 puppies and mom are still looking for their forever home. She is currently being housetrained. We hope Sable catches your eye, she is just as stunning in person.

Story
Meet Daisy, a very sweet, young girl looking for a new start. She was dumped in rural central Arkansas, and has lived outdoors ever since. Assumed from her very shy disposition, she was probably abused. Now she is slow to trust, especially with men, but is preciously sweet once you earn it. She is immediately warm with children, and likes to play with the local kids. Daisy also gets along well with other dogs, but not so much with cats--she likes to chase them. Daisy is well suited for a family with children and dogs, and a yard in a peaceful setting. She is just waiting to meet you - submit an application to arrange a visitation!
