I'm the sweetest boy and I have an excellent temperament. I get along great with everyone I meet and other dogs too! I've been tested with cats and I'm cool with them too! I'm a calm and sweet boy and really well behaved and so easy to live with. I'm healthy, housebroken, crate-trained and up to date on all my vaccinations. Meet Jethro! This 1.5-year-old, 38-lb hound mix from Tennessee is equal parts goofball, cuddle bug, and adventure buddy. Jethro has never met a stranger — he loves adults, men, women, the elderly… truly anyone willing to say hi or offer him a pet. He’s the kind of dog who leans his whole body into you during scratches, and it’s absolutely adorable. Jethro is an energetic, outdoors-loving boy who’s always down for a walk. Squirrels and neighborhood cats? Yeah… he has opinions about them and will bark, but he’s responding beautifully to training and positive reinforcement. Outside he’s playful and curious; inside he’s a total nap king who snoozes hard once the excitement is over. He loves toys of all kinds — plush, chew, squeaky, you name it — though plush toys don’t stand a chance (the stuffing never survives). Recently he discovered balls, and according to Jethro, it’s the greatest thing that has ever happened to him. He’s very treat-motivated, smart, and quick to learn. He already knows sit and come, and he’s working on his “look” command to help him focus on walks. Jethro is house trained, crate trained at night, and overall such a good boy. During the day he may whine for a minute when crated, but he settles quickly with a chew toy. He’s shown a bit of separation anxiety and he’s newly fascinated by countertops, but he’s extremely responsive when corrected. He’s unsure around other dogs and will bark from excitement, not fear, so slow intros are best. He’s not a fan of cats, though it doesn’t appear to be aggression — just classic hound enthusiasm. ***Special needs. She was hit by a car and had several hip surgeries. She needs joint supplements and may eventually need some support for her back and in the form of a wheelchair support vehicle!*** Meet Jenny! Jenny is a 2-3-year-old foxhound, whippet, pointer and jack Russell terrier mix!! She was hit with a hit by a car within the first year of her life. She was turned over to a shelter in South Carolina who contacted us because we are well-known to help with special mobility needs dogs. Of course, we said yes. Jenny has endured two hip surgeries, on the same side of her hip for both of them. The first surgery was a female femoral head osteotomy commonly known as an FHO. The surgeon removed the head of her femur and made a pocket in the hit muscle as a replacement. She also removed many bone fragments as well. It took Jenny nearly a year to recover from the first surgery and then it was determined she needed another! The second surgery seem to do the trick and removed a lot of scar tissue and extra bone growth that had become painful for her. Jenny is a happy-go-lucky girl. She’s always on the lookout for bunnies and squirrels, that’s the hound in her! She loves to play with other dogs, but big dogs that are rough can be a little much for her although she can hold her own! She does well playing on grass but a lot of walking on concrete will need some special care to make sure that her back legs don’t drag. She uses both our back legs very well, but will always have some mobility issues. She often tends to walk sideways when she gets tired! Jenny has gotten along well with all her other foster dog siblings. Jenny hasn’t met a stranger and also has been great with the children she’s met. As well as the cat in her foster home. Jenny is very well crate trained and housetrained although her accident has left her with urgency when she needs to go outside to potty. And Jenny walks well on a leash and loves to walk the neighbourhood looking for anything that moves! We feel that Jenny is ready for her forever home after over a year in her rescue foster homes. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. This sweetie was picked up following a post person because she fed them. Very sweet, friendly and happy, she has the typical hound personalities!! Lily does tend to hang back a little and see what's going on around first. She likes to play and does well with the pups she is with right now. She will need all of the puppy training along with leash work. She is just a great puppy ready for a family to go on adventures with. She is located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders.
