Story
Current Location: Indiana Hi, I'm Astoria 💛 This beautiful 2 year old foxhound has been through more than most dogs her age. She was saved from a shelter euthanasia list, brought into rescue, moved in with a foster, got adopted, and has now been returned through no fault of her own. Astoria is a gentle, affectionate girl. She can be timid with new people, but given time and patience, she bonds closely and shows her sweet, loving personality. She enjoys playing with other dogs and does well with kids and cats! Astoria would likely do best in a quieter home where she can settle in at her own pace and continue building confidence. A dog friend to play with and help her learn the ropes would make her sooooo happy. After all her ups and downs, we'd love to see her land somewhere that gives her the stability she deserves.

Story
We adopted Maple from the pound in 2020. She’s a pretty calm dog who loves snuggles and loves to play. She’s house trained and crate trained. She’s smart and loves games and enjoys being trained. She’s quiet and only really barks when someone rings the doorbell. She’s great with kids and babies. We believe she’s about 7 and hasn’t had any health issues. We’re moving and can’t take her with us, but she deserves a loving home.

Story
Chunk is a young dog with a big personality hiding behind some very intense eyes. When he first meets new people he can be a little nervous and prefers to observe from nearby rather than jump right into the action. He's the kind of dog who likes a moment to figure things out, and quick movements can startle him at first. The good news is that Chunk is highly motivated by snacks, and a handful of treats or kibble is really all it takes to start making friends. Once he realizes you're safe, Chunk's sweet and goofy personality starts to come out. He's an energetic boy with plenty of puppy energy and a bit of endearing clumsiness as he continues to figure out his long legs. He absolutely loves treats chewing on a good bone, enjoys a porch snooze, and is happiest when he's playing with his dog friends or hanging out close to his people. Chunk has settled in beautifully with dogs of all ages, sizes, and play styles and really enjoys having dog friends around. He also does extraordinarily well in his crate and has been comfortable relaxing there with something to chew on. The most special thing about Chunk, other than how soft his fur is, is getting to watch him open up. At first he may quietly hang back and take everything in, but as he grows comfortable his silly, snuggly, affectionate side starts to shine. Earning his trust is incredibly rewarding, and once you do, you've got yourself a loyal, joyful little shadow who is thrilled just to be near you. Chunk is looking for a patient home that will give him a little time to settle in and the chance to show just how soft he really is.

Story
Rusty is a very sweet dog, he is loving and loyal. He is a good looking dog. He very friendly. You can tell he he is a young dog. He is great around kids. He has to warm up to other dogs. My son has a female dog and it took us a little while to get them comfortable with each other but now they love each other. When I got Rusty I was told that he does really good around cats and other big dogs. when I see him with the cats that prowl around here, It may be out of protection, but he does like to chase them. He is a hound so I think that is just part of his breed. He never tears up anything and he behaves well at home. He was being mistreated and my grandson rescued him. This is how I became his owner. The vet said that he is probably between one and two. I believe he weighs somewhere between 65 and 70 lbs. he loves to play fetch. He is a very special dog, beautiful and extremely sweet. He has had all his shots, he is HW free and takes his medication each month .

Story
Max is the kind of hound who lives for movement, connection, and the outdoors- he loves to cuddle, loves to roughhouse, loves his walks, and absolutely lives to run full-speed with those long foxhound legs stretched all the way out. He's food motivated, loves every snack offered, and thinks exercise, yard patrol, and snacks form the holy trinity of happiness. Snuggly, affectionate, great on walks, eager to be with his people, and happy snoozing in the bed- He's been a well loved house dog for five years and it shows! Everyone agrees he's a genuinely sweet, affectionate, playful dog. Max is social, especially with the *right* dogs. He prefers friendly dogs who play like he does - chasing, wrestling, and big goofy energy. He's not interested in cats. Max *loves* to do classic hound yard work. He patrols the fence line, trees squirrels, alerts to mysterious backyard intruders like possums and groundhogs, and takes his self-appointed job as Yard Security Officer very seriously. Outdoor access is his love language. Max will do best in a home with lots of space and plenty of exercise to help him relax and reset. His ideal match is someone with an active, outdoorsy lifestyle who wants a companion for hikes, sniffing sessions, yard surveying, and long naps afterward. He’d love a fenced yard, plenty of outdoor access and maybe a goofy wrestling buddy who matches his play style. Someone who appreciates hound instincts and can give him quality one-on-one time would be perfect for him. Regarding crate training: He'll go into a crate when asked, but because it has only been used as a timeout spot after counter surfing adventures, he currently sees it as punishment rather than a cozy den. With positive reinforcement, he could learn to love it! Oh, and he can also lock doors and turn door knobs. Crazy hound!!

Story
Lewey has spent the last year watching other dogs get chosen while he keeps waiting for the person who feels like home. Lewey is a friendly, talkative foxhound who loves people and has a big, happy personality. He's playful, energetic, and always ready for a walk or a backyard adventure. He does well meeting new people, is gentle with kids he's met, and mostly just wants someone to chat with and hang out beside. He gets along great with other dogs, chases chickens, and pretty much ignores cats. Like many hounds, he's an athletic guy with lots of energy, so he'll thrive with a family who can give him room to run and a routine that keeps both his mind and legs busy. He's sensitive to loud noises during deer season and he's still learning some basic manners, but he's a sweet dog who genuinely wants to connect and do well. Lewey would love a home with space, structure, and people who enjoy an affectionate, lively companion. With a little training and plenty of love, he's the kind of dog who was born to be someone's best friend.
