Story
Rowdy is a little shy with new people. Shes great with all dogs she meets and would be best on a home with another dog to help her adjust. Rowdy is curious in new situations, but life up until recently, hasnt been kind to her..... so she will need time to get comfortable and then her true goofy nature will emerge! Like a butterfly, Rowdy is a much different pup than when she 1st came to us from the pound, with no hope of getting out :( UNTIL the rescue chick saw me and knew i was a diamond in the RUFF ;) Rowdy needs a patient home who will give her time to warm up, open up & trust. Older kids only would be best for her and a fully fenced yard is a must. Until she settles in she'll be an escape risk. An apartment would work for Rowdy as well. She is ready for her furever family!! Apply soon! Local adoption only $200, in TX

Story
Romeo is sponsored by the Litke Family.Meet Romeo If you’re looking for a dog who will truly love you, Romeo is ready to give his whole heart. This sweet boy has been waiting far too long for his happily ever after, and he deserves a family who will cherish and spoil him the way he’s always deserved.Romeo is incredibly affectionate and devoted to his people. He’s a total leaner who wants to press right up against you, soaking in every bit of closeness he can. After he’s had a chance to stretch his legs and play (a fenced yard where he can safely run and explore would be perfect for him), he’s happiest curled up as close as possible—sometimes somehow folding himself into the tiniest little ball just to stay connected to his person. He’s playful, loyal, and eager to be part of your everyday life—whether that’s enjoying time outside together or relaxing at home. Romeo bonds deeply and loves with his whole heart. He’s been so patient while waiting for someone to choose him. Now he just needs a loving family to finally say, “You’re home.” Could you be the one to give Romeo the forever he’s been dreaming of? He’s loyal, loving, and ready to finally have a place to call home. Romeo has been patient… now he just needs someone to choose him. The shelter is also open to a foster-to-adopt situation so Romeo can decompress outside of the shelter and show you who he truly is in a home environment. Once he's out of the chaos, his loving and loyal side really comes through. If you are interested in meeting Romeo, the shelter is open Monday through Saturday 11am – 6pm and Sunday 11am – 4pm. If you’d like to schedule an appointment, check out the pets’ profile on our website at newberganimals.com to fill out an application and email to frontdesk@newberganimals.com.Due to COVID-19, we are currently only open by appointment. Story
Meet Willy! Willy is a bright and lovable pup who came to us to work on his reactivity toward men and to improve his overall obedience. While he was initially unsure and reactive in certain situations, Willy has made impressive progress through consistent training, structure, and positive reinforcement. With time and trust, Willy has shown his sweet and eager-to-please nature. He's learned to stay calm in new environments, respond to commands reliably, and build confidence around the people who once made him nervous. Willy is a great example of how patience, guidance, and the right support can help a dog grow into their best self. We're so proud of how far he's come!   ##2499010##

Story
Meet Alondra Female DOB: January 15, 2024 Weight: 48 lbs Breed: American Foxhound / Terrier Mix Spayed (Fixed) Vaccinated Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Alondra is a loving, active girl with a playful personality and a joyful spirit. At a young age, she has the perfect balance of youthful energy and growing maturity. She enjoys companionship, activity, and being part of everyday life with her people. She is affectionate, social, and loves interaction and engagement. Alondra would thrive in a home that enjoys walks, playtime, and including their dog in daily routines and adventures. As an American Foxhound / Terrier mix, Alondra may show traits such as intelligence, curiosity, athleticism, and a strong desire to explore and stay active. Hound breeds were originally developed to use their noses and instincts while tracking, which can naturally create a stronger prey drive toward smaller animals. Because of these breed tendencies, Alondra does not do well with cats and would do best in a cat-free home. This is not because she is a “bad dog,” but rather because certain breed instincts can make some dogs more interested in chasing or focusing on small animals. Foxhound and Terrier mixes are often known for being: Loyal and people-oriented Energetic and playful Smart and engaging companions Alondra would do best in an active, loving home where she can receive exercise, structure, companionship, and mental stimulation. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from very different backgrounds. Some may have previously lived in homes, while others may have come from the streets, overcrowded shelters, neglect situations, or environments where they had little structure or guidance. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. Even dogs who appear well-behaved in foster care or at the rescue are still adjusting and learning. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should be prepared to continue training and support after adoption. Alondra will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Structure and routine Daily exercise and mental stimulation Patience and consistency during adjustment Continued socialization and engagement Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With time, patience, and commitment, rescue dogs often blossom into incredibly loyal companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, training, mental stimulation, and financial responsibility. Alondra will need: Daily walks, exercise, and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine wellness exams and preventative veterinary care A safe, stable, indoor living environment Consistent veterinary care, proper nutrition, preventative care, and emotional stability are all essential to helping her live a healthy and happy life. Alondra is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. Story
Hi, I’m Duke! They say age slows you down, but I clearly missed that memo. The one who looks like he should be taking naps all day but instead is still out here living life like every walk could turn into an adventure. I’m a 9 year old, 61 lb gentleman with a heart full of sweetness and a very questionable understanding of the word “slow down.” I love people, I love affection, and I fully believe pets should be a full-time job for anyone within reach of my face. Don’t let the number fool you. I am still very much an active boy. Walks, exploring, hanging out with my people, I am in. I’ve got senior status on paper, but in my soul I am still running the show like a much younger Duke. One of my favorite things in life is other dogs. I really enjoy their company and love to play when I get the chance. I’ve still got that social spark and I’m happiest when I can be part of the action with a dog friend who enjoys a good time too. Now, I do need to be honest about one thing. Cats and I are not a good match. I tend to want to chase them, and they are not big fans of my enthusiasm, so a cat-free home is best for everyone involved. As for kids, I would do best with children 7 and older who understand that I sometimes need space and calm moments. I’m sweet, but I also appreciate respect for my boundaries when I’m taking it easy. Even though I’m 9, I’m really just looking for a home where I can enjoy life, go on my little adventures, and then come back and relax. A soft bed, some love, and a family to call my own would be my dream setup! Apply to meet Duke today!

Story
Katie is an emotional support couch potato. She loves just lounging on her dog bed, her human’s bed or the couch. But if she knows she gets to go on an adventure she gets very excited for that!!! She loves being on a long lead or free. Once her nose hits a scent, she’s gone, tail up! She lives with a husky girl and has lived with several other dogs as well as cats. Although if she meets a cat for the first time, she wants to put her nose in the cat’s business. But after awhile she gets the point that not everyone likes a coonhound nose in their business. Katie is 7 years old, spayed after an accidental litter and is up to date on all her shots. She is a loving sweetheart who, at no fault of her own, is in need of a new home!
