Are you looking for a dog who is pure kindness and nothing but love? Meet Carly! Carly is a 7-8 year old foxhound who weighs about 65 pounds. Life hasn't been easy for Carly! She survived being lost and found with a maggot infested wound. She survived being in a loud, busy, over-crowded shelter for months and now, she's ready to find the stability of a forever home! Carly is a kind and somewhat timid dog who enjoys a quiet home. She is good with other dogs but prefers the laid back over the very playful. She seems to be good with the cat in her foster home and is reliably house trained. Carly enjoys relaxing on the couch or her dog bed. She has just started to play in her foster home and that's taken a few weeks. She is looking for a calm, stable, loving home who will give her time to adjust and buy her canned food. Yep, we've got her a bit spoiled and she sure does deserve it! If you are ready to give Carly her happily ever after....we sure would love to hear from you! Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3 charitable rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, Va. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Hazey Maze was born on the streets of North Carolina. She was picked up by a caring citizen and spent her first 4 months of life boarding in a vet's office before finding her way to us with two of her siblings. She is the sweetest girl. Gentle, but shy; not an aggressive bone in her body. When she's scared, she hides rather than intimidating anyone. She bonds closely with females and would make a perfect companion for a compassionate young woman's first dog. At each adoption event she attends she manages to find an animal-loving young lady to spend the entire event tied to, yet she still hasn't found anyone who can give her a permanent home. She is definitely more timid of men, but she has warmed up to soft and patient men after longer periods. Again, she just runs and hides from them-- never anything aggressive. Hazey Maze loves other dogs, cats, and does fine with free-ranging fowl. She's the most gentle with special needs animal buddies, but can still keep up and romp around with high-energy doggos, too!

He may need some help gaining some confidence in his new surrounding and in himself, but with some time, patience and some food motivation, this handsome hound will be the breath of fresh air that brings new life and so much unconditional love. Dee Dee is a wonderful hound girlie. In typical hound fashion, she is great with people and her nose leads the way. This precious girl is a sweet soul. She LOVES her people! For the family who is fortunate enough to welcome her, she will shower you with affection and follow you around checking out what you are doing. She enjoys playtime, especially with her humans. She will happily play with other friendly dogs or even independently chew on a bone or toy. Dee Dee is very curious and needs to sniff new environments and explore. Once she gets the exploring finished, she is satisfied. A new unchained world has been opened for her and she wants to check everything out. She is also very trusting of her humans. She fully expects to be treated with love and patience, along with guidance and boundaries. Once these things are established, she will thrive! Dee Dee has so many amazing qualities. She likes to give hugs, and she is a very snuggly girl. She likes to lay on her people, or at least lay beside them. The closer to you, the better. She has the gift of making a person feel special. On walks she can get distracted by smells of other animals, and will try to follow the smell. Simply redirecting her path helps get her out of that mode. Due to her former hound life, she should not be with cats or other small animals. She loves food or anything that potentially smells like food. Counters are particularly intriguing for her. Guiding her on her boundaries in the home will be beneficial. Dee Dee does not like sharing her food, so once she is fed, she prefers eating in peace without the fear of her food being taken. This will likely decrease with time as she gets used to being fed regularly. There has already been improvement in this area. She would benefit from a puzzle feeder. Dee Dee gets along with people of any age, but a home with older children and adults would be best due to her love of food. She gets really excited over food and other animal smells. She is crate trained, just be sure to toss in a few treats when she goes in. She has not had any potty accidents in the home. Dee Dee is a fantastic girl, with tons of love and affection to give. In turn, she needs someone to help guide her in exploring this new world that has now opened for her. She is an absolute treasure, you won’t be disappointed.

My name is Romeo, if you couldn't tell by my name I am an absolute love bug who is ready for all the cuddles and affection. Romeo is very sweet but he may need some time to warm up to new faces. With a little bit of time, Romeo is looking for his absolute best friend. He loves to sniff around and is so curious about his surroundings. Romeo loves to go on walks or sniff around the park, as long as he is with you he would be the happiest dog in the world. Romeo was previously an outside dog who may need some time adjusting to being an inside dog. He needs someone who has the time to help him adjust to being inside.
