Story
TF? Well, meet Wayne. Wayne came to us when his shelter kill date was set and no one else offered to take him. We also got his friend, Willie and three other hounds from the same shelter at the same time. If you are wondering why TF he had TF stamped on his hips, he was hunting dog. Running deer west of the Blue Ridge is not legal so we don't see many deer dogs in our area. This is also a common way to identify hounds used for hunting fox and coyotes...the letters being the owners initials. Unlike the freeze brands we sometimes see, this is just paint and didn't hurt him. It's long since washed off in the months Wayne has been waiting for an adopter. Wayne is a middle aged hound who is short and stout and has gained a lof of weight with us! He kinda looks like a beagle and barks like one too. Wayne is all kindness and happiness with a love of fine food...or any food. He may be a bit hard of hearing as the scars on his ears hint to chronic, intreated ear infections. But hey, it just makes him a better sleeper. Wayne has learned all kinds of good things in his foster home! He LOVES baby pools, naps and has good manners and we don't know why TF no one wants sweet Wayne! Wayne's adoption fee is reduced to $100. Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. For more information and to apply to adopt, please visit www.augustadogadoptions.org

Story
Hey there, I'm Tubby Custard, the biggest goofball you'll ever meet, and I'm here to bring some laughter and joy into your life! At around 6-ish years old, I'm a Hound/Lab mix who's just excited to be alive and making friends! My journey to the shelter started at a popular dumping area, but thanks to a kind soul who scooped me up, I'm now ready to find my family. I would call myself a bit of a class clown, but don't worry - I promise to always put a smile on your face with my silly antics and endless enthusiasm for life. Sure, I may have never lived inside before, but I'm eager to learn the ropes with the help of a patient family who's willing to give me a chance. After all, I'm worth it-I'm a funny goober who loves nothing more than playing, going for walks, getting pets, and spending time with my favorite people. While I'm okay with other dogs, a meet and greet with any current pets would be a solid plan, and I think I'd do just fine with older kids (maybe 12+) who can handle my occasional overexcitement and jumpy nature-I'm working on it, I promise! So, if you're ready to welcome a lovable goofball like me into your heart and home, let's make some memories together that are sweeter than Tubby Custard! My adoption fee is $175, which covers all of my vetting. If you would like more information on me, please give SVASC a call at (540) 943-5142, email SVASC at ewiles@co.augusta.va.us, or stop by during open hours and ask for Tubs!

Story
My name is Joseph, or Joey if you like. I am the sweetest lovable guy you'll ever meet!! I am a Bagel (a Basset Beagle mix) with a lot more Beagle than Basset. Best guess is that I am about 7 years old and I am looking forward to finding a family that appreciates the virtues of a fellow like me!!! I am house-trained and learned to use the doggie door pretty quickly. I take my job of patrolling the backyard very seriously and ensure my foster's home is free from all deer, rabbits, and squirrels! I am crate-trained too, but I'm so well-behaved, even when left alone, that I don't need to be confined. I have my favorite dog bed and am always ready for a good cozy nap. I do enjoy going on a walk or two every day as well as time playing outside. I would prefer a home with a fenced yard so I have a way to let off some energy. Despite being out of the playful puppy stage, I still get the zoomies occasionally!I really love people and am instant friends with everyone I meet. I am very calm and would be great with children of any age. I get along great with other dogs and I really do enjoy the company of my foster brother. I would be lonely without another dog in the home. When I came to my foster home, I wasn't feeling my best. It turns out I have a heart issue and require daily medication to keep me healthy. BROOD's medical director can tell you all about it, I don't understand all the big medical words! As I got healthy with the treatment, I really started to blossom and am absolutely loving life!!! I am so much more playful and have more stamina without needing to rest as much. I am a happy-go-lucky guy and just waiting for the next adventure!! I know my prefect family is out there, I hope it's you!!!! Please contact BROOD today!!! My adoption fee is $250.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware, and southern Pennsylvania. Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state. We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference. The age of many BROOD dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records. The estimate on the dog's age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup. Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the record. ***BROOD's adoption fees are determined based on the age of the dog. 05/05/2024

Not good with kids, Needs special attention, House-trained,
Story
I am Daisy, a pleasantly plump, 8-year-old classic Basset looking for a family to smother me with love, cuddles, and treat me like the queen that I am! I came to BROOD from a home where I ate more human food than dog food and the vet said I have about 15 pounds to lose to be a perfect weight for a gal my age and size. My foster family has been working with me to cut the calories and try and increase the exercise so I will need a family willing to help on my weight loss journey!I am fully house-trained. I love roaming outside or warming myself in the sun, and sometimes I forget what I am out there to do. I will need a home with a fenced yard as I don't much care for walks for exercise. I prefer to take things at my own pace on my own schedule. I am crate-trained and sleep quietly there through the night. I love people and getting all the attention I can. I do startle pretty easily when napping, which is my favorite pastime, so I would do best in a home with older children who know to let me get my beauty rest. I need to go to a home as the only dog. I want all the attention for myself and don't like to share my family with other dogs. I don't mind the cats here--we just go our separate ways. I can be stubborn when it comes to food. I want whatever you have, my favorites are pizza, burgers, and chicken. But I won't turn down veggies and fruit either. I am learning about "cookies" and love a milk bone treat for when I am being good.I've yet to meet a person, or their food, that I didn't instantly love! Please contact BROOD today!!! My adoption fee is $200.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/.
