Story
We are heartbroken to report that after being adopted from us 8 years ago...Jupiter has been returned to us because his family no longer had time for him. Jupiter's not one to hold grudges - he's ready to start fresh and find a family that'll stick with him through thick and thin. Jupiter is housetrained, crate trained, walks well onleash, loves car rides, and other dogs. He's still a spry guy who has energy and likes to play. Jupiter is a kind and gentle soul who yearns for a family whose love isn't temporary. (It was reported by his previous owner that he thought he had a seizure sometime back. At this time he has not shown any in his foster home. We are watching him closely and may be able to offer additional support to an adopter if issues would arise in the future.) A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Jupiter, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other "slow to adopt" dogs! Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. For more information and to apply to adopt, please visit www.augustadogadoptions.org

Hello, I'm Lizzie! I've got a sweet spirit that fills the room and a friendly demeanor that can brighten anyone's day. I'm gentle to the touch, offering loving nudges to those who need it. I'm loyal, always by your side when you need a companion. My smarts shine through in my charming quirks. I'm mellow and independent, content with a quiet corner and a soft bed. But don't be fooled, I'm also quite the cuddle bug, always up for a good snuggle. My soulful eyes speak volumes, reflecting a depth of understanding that only a loving heart can comprehend. I promise to be your faithful friend, your confidante, your ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. Adopt me, not just because I need a home, but because I have an abundance of love to give, and I'd like nothing more than to share it with you. This pet is eligible for the PETS FOR PATRIOTS adoption program. Adoption Process If you are ready to meet the pet, please fill out an online adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your internet browser: https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/10666/generic Once your application is submitted, we will contact the vet reference provided. If you do not yet have a vet, please provide three personal references – these could be family and friends who can attest to your pet parenting skills. A volunteer will schedule a phone interview with you. The interview and application help our fosters find their forever home by ensuring a good match.   The Louisa Humane Society does not have a brick and mortar facility, so all of our pets are in foster care. Once approved, the foster parent will reach out to arrange a visit. The foster family can tell you all about her likes, dislikes, and little quirks.  The application and visit do not oblige you to adopt, but if you’re ready to take the pet home as your furry forever friend, her adoption fee is being sponsored by a generous volunteer. ##2038075##

Story
Meet Hermey – A Survivor with a Heart of Gold Hermey has every reason not to trust humans, yet he chooses love and kindness. This gentle soul came into our care after Fluvanna SPCA discovered he had survived an old ballistic injury—he had been shot in the neck and left to suffer. On top of that, he was severely malnourished, fighting for survival on his own. Despite everything he’s been through, Hermey has held onto his sweet and forgiving nature. Today, Hermey is stable and lives a normal life with just a few adjustments. Due to his past injury, he cannot wear collars around his neck and instead uses a harness for walks. But don’t let his history fool you—Hermey is just as ready for adventure and companionship as any other pup. He’s a bit nervous in new situations and may take a moment to warm up to new people, but once he does, he’s the most affectionate snuggle bug you’ll ever meet. Hermey enjoys the company of other dogs, but he’d do best with another gentle companion. He hasn’t been officially cat-tested, but his foster does have chickens, so there’s potential for a home with cats. More than anything, Hermey deserves a family who will show him the love and security he never had before. He’s been through so much—now it’s time for his happily ever after. Could you be the one to give Hermey the safe and loving home he deserves?

Story
This 7-8 -month-old hound mix is as sweet and soulful as they come. Born into an accidental litter, Tallulah spent her early months living in an outdoor pen—unfamiliar with the comfort of a home or the kindness of a gentle hand. When DDBBR was called in to help, she was the most sensitive of the bunch, clinging tightly to her rescuer as she took her very first trip to the vet. But Tallulah is nothing if not resilient. Since moving into foster care, she’s begun to bloom. With a soft approach, she’ll curiously come over for a little kiss on the cheek—or lay down and offer you her belly, a sign of her growing trust and gentle spirit. Tallulah had never met a dog outside her family before, but she quickly bonded with her foster’s resident pup and the two became fast friends. She can still be shy around new people, but all it takes is a calm voice and a kind touch to win her heart. Now learning the ropes of indoor life, Tallulah is doing wonderfully. Each day brings a little more confidence, a little more tail wag, and a few more glimpses of the happy, loving companion she’s becoming. She’s on her way to becoming a fantastic family dog—and we can’t wait to see her continue to “learn how to dog."

Story
Meet Indy, a 5-year-old Basset mix with boundless energy, looking for his perfect country forever home. He’s an adventurous spirit who needs plenty of space to roam and explore—ideally in a location where his signature hound howls won’t disturb the neighbors (be sure to check out his video!). Indy can be a bit of a Houdini, so he’ll need a secure fence to keep him safe or a family with a very watchful eye.Indy is housetrained, loves long walks, and is always eager to be the center of attention. He gets along well with other dogs of a similar temperament and would do best in a home with older children, as his high energy could be a little overwhelming for little ones. A true pro at belly rubs, Indy will gladly entertain you with tricks for treats! He’s a quirky, lovable guy with a heart of gold, and he’s sure to be your best friend. If you’re looking for a loyal, adventurous, and sweet companion, Indy is the dog for you! Contact BROOD today to begin your adventures together. His adoption fee is $250.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware, and southern Pennsylvania. Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state. We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference. The age of BROOD dogs is an estimate, as very few come with exact age records. 03/15/2025
