Story
Meet Mimzi:Mimzi is a medium-sized sweetheart who has already proven just how resilient and loving a dog can be. She was found as a stray suffering from severe skin infections and significant burns along her back. When she first arrived, she was understandably frightened—approaching her would cause her to fall to the ground and shake.Today, Mimzi is a completely different girl. She has gained confidence, happily greets people for affection, and shows nothing but love despite her past abuse and neglect.Mimzi truly loves everyone she meets and has shown no aggression. She is good with other dogs, though her play skills are still developing, and her interactions have been limited while her wounds continue to heal. She ignores house cats and would do well in a variety of home settings, including apartments. She walks well on leash but can pull at times—using a harness or gentle leader would be ideal. Mimzi rides calmly in a crate for car trips, sleeps well in a crate (though she prefers her run), and is successfully using a grass potty pad system, making her an easy fit for apartment living. Her burns are healing nicely with minimal scarring, and her personality continues to blossom. Mimzi is learning how to play with toys and other dogs, discovering what it means to simply be a dog.Mimzi would do well in almost any home—she just wants kindness, consistency, and people to love.If you’re looking for a gentle, grateful companion with a heart of gold, Mimzi may be the perfect match.Name: MimziBreed: French Bulldog/CrossbreedSex: FemaleAge: 2 years  (estimated)Weight: 30lbsSpayed/Neutered: NoVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS: Good with Children: UnknownGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  Texas  IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Smokey Sassy is a soft-hearted sweetheart with a gentle soul. At just three years old, she’s still learning to trust the world around her and is looking for a home where she can blossom at her own pace. Shy by nature, Smokey will need a patient and understanding family who can give her the time and space she needs to feel safe and secure. Once she’s comfortable, Smokey will happily curl up beside you on the couch, ready to share quiet moments and your favorite TV shows. She thrives in calm, peaceful environments and would do best in a home with a single person or older adults who understand her need for a slow and steady approach. Take a look at her in action here then come back to read more- https://youtu.be/klJifujey0Y Smokey is cat friendly and currently lives with 2 cats and a large dog. Having a dog companion in the home is highly recommended to help her feel more confident. We think she will do best with a male doggy friend to keep the energy balanced. A fenced yard would be the cherry on top, giving her the freedom to explore at her own pace without pressure. What she wants most is a home filled with love—and the occasional gentle affection. Are you the one to help Smokey Sassy shine? Application: https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/6884013c32b22fdb6306e864 Questions? You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey!   You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!    The adoption fee is $1,600 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectable, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!    We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.    Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!    Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.   Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.    The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.   It doesn’t stop there!
