Meet Skye! Skye is a 4-year-old French Bulldog who is with us today because we chose compassion. Skye came to CH Boxer Rescue after being diagnosed with IVDD. She was purchased as a puppy with this common condition and it almost cost her life. When Skye’s IVDD presented, one family member believed euthanasia was the simplest answer. Skye’s mom couldn’t accept that as her only option. Instead, she made the selfless decision to surrender Skye to rescue so she could have a chance at life without pain. That choice saved Skye’s life. Skye is now safe in a wonderful foster home where her pain is controlled and her gentle spirit is intact. She is fully mobile, housetrained, continent, and genuinely happy. Skye has bonded deeply with her foster mom and has become a devoted little velcro dog who just wants to be close to her person. She is calm and kind with other dogs, but for her safety we are seeking a home with only calm companions or as an only dog. We know this is a special adoption. Experience with IVDD is preferred but not mandatory, and we can walk you through the treatment. One-level living without stairs would also be helpful. We understand that narrows the adoption field—but Skye is worth it. Phil is looking for a very special understanding home! This 1 year old Frenchie was surrendered to a local shelter when his owners couldn't meet his needs. We have had extensive diagnostics done to get to the bottom of his chronic diarrhea issues and he does have fairly severe IBD which will require lifelong care to manage- medications and a strict prescription diet. He's improved but it's going to be a trial and error process under the care of vets because of the severity of is issue. We are waiting on a recheck and further results but he is suspected to have some chronic irritable bowel type issues, and already improved greatly on a special prescription diet and medications. We are hoping to find little Phil a local home where he can be monitored and follow up with our vet. Phil can be a little standoffish at first and undersocialized but a fun playful puppy once he bonds. He's at that adolescent stage where he can be a bit of a brat testing boundaries at times and needs some training and an adult household to continue to work with him. Meet Tofurkey, our awkward little holiday miracle. This ~2 year old bully (exotic microbully technically?:() was bred and born to suffer, but is a complete sweetheart and so happy for any attention. By the nature of his breeding, he can barely breath or walk- bad hips, deformed front legs, narrowed nostrils and an elongated soft palate, and gets winded and overheated easily. And as if that's not bad enough then he had his ears chopped off for cosmetic reasons. His owner was arrested and he ended up in a local animal control dripping blood from a prolapsed urethra (ouch! another common issue in these little gremlins) that needed emergency surgery plus a long overdue neuter to prevent any more of him from existing. He's getting surgery soon to make it easier to breathe, and will need a home that can stay on top of his medical needs longterm. He can run and walk awkwardly but does best on softer surfaces as he sometimes drags his back legs. Tofurkey is stressed in the shelter and would love to find a foster or adoptive home soon... please submit an application to open your home to him. He's 40lbs full grown but with a long low build. Escher came to Cameron Animal Rescue after she was given up by a breeder who no longer wanted her. She is sweet, affectionate girl who loves people, and she is looking for her forever home. We don't know what Escher's life was like prior to arrival, but this sweet girl has adjusted wonderfully. Escher loves to play with toys and chase balls in the back yard. And she loves going on long walks- she is wonderful on the leash. She has shown a propensity for climbing (a 5 ft fence!), so she should not be left alone in a backyard. Escher has shown too much interested in chasing cats, and although she is good with some dogs, she is reactive toward otheres. Therefore we think that she should be an only pet. On the other hand, Escher has been wonderful with all of the people that she has met, including young children. Escher is working on house-training, and has been improving, but is not totally house-trained. Escher is approximately 3 years old, and she is healthy. Her adoption fee includes her spay; a full series of 3 DHLPPi (distemper) vaccines, as well as Rabies and Bordetella vaccines; testing for heartworm and tick-bourne diseases; fecal testing and deworming; microchip; 30 days of free pet insurance. Although Escher is healthy at this time, french bulldogs are at great risk of significant medical issues. Therefore we are looking for an adopter with an extensive prior veterinary history. Please note that priority will be given to adopters from Northern NJ/NYC area, however out of state adopters will be considered. Please read the requirements that Escher be a single pet, and that a veterinary history is required.
