Allow us to introduce you to the sweetest, silliest, happiest, cuddle-bug of all time, Leroy. He is a ridiculously handsome Fluffy French Bulldog who was a breeder surrender so it took a few days for him to come out of his shell but when he cracked that shell, out came the best boy!
Leroy LOVES his foster family and wants to be near them at all times. Foster mom has quickly learned that even privacy taking a shower is a luxury of the past because Leroy is ALWAYS there staring at her and waiting patiently for hugs and pets! He's a huge fan of ear scratches and belly rubs. He loves visitors too! He just loves, loves, loves people and because he's so cute and has the most adorable smile and fluffy Frenchie booty, he always gets attention wherever we go and he's there for it 100%!
Leroy is great with other dogs and has no dog or food aggression with one exception- ice cubes!! He thinks ice cubes are a gift from the gods and he'll protect an ice cube he gets against all of the surrounding enemies trying to steal his cold treasure! Just a simple growl is all he gives and he listens really well when you redirect him! He really loves little kids too and is so gentle with them even if he gets excited and jumps up, it's always a gentle approach.
He is literally the softest dog I've ever felt and everyone that's come in contact with him says the same thing. His fur color is so unique and beautiful that it reminds me of the color women in the 70's would spend a fortune at the beauty salon trying to replicate the color even though the color never really existed in human hair anyway. He also has the most beautiful and unique golden eye color that is simply stunning!
This guy LOVES to play! He loves his toys (he really didn't know what to do with them when he first joined us) and will just walk around the house or the yard with his stuffed elephant or money just dangling from his mouth. His absolute favorite activity to do is chasing an oversized beach ball! That's when the real fun is happening- for both him and all the spectators involved. He is hit or miss right now on fetch as he brings the ball back sometimes and sometimes he runs to it and then just kinda waits there, which btw he's super cute when he's doing that too! He enjoys playing with other dogs too of any size and although I feel he would do better with a doggie sibling, it's not a total deal breaker if he would be the only dog as long as his family understand that he will be stuck on you like glue and you should be sure to invest allot of money in oversized beach balls to keep him occupied. He has not been around cats in our home so I couldn't say he's definitely "cat friendly but he really hasn't had much of an interest as we've passed them by.
We have worked with him quite a bit off leash outside in the front yard and he does well. I always stay out there with him and redirect him if he gets close to the street. He listens well and comes right back close to me. We have a fenced in backyard that he also loves to explore so I would definitely say this guy needs a yard to play in for sure! He has the perfect amount of energy in my opinion as he can be so happy to play, play, play but the next second he's taking a Power Nap and snoring!
His diet is pretty simple thankfully and he doesn't seem to have any extreme allergies. He eats Ancient Grains Bison, Lamb, Salmon with a little beef bone stock mixed in. He's a really good eater too!
Although we were fully committed to a successful decompression when Leroy first came to us, he made it very clear that the crate was not the place he wanted to be. So because we were committed to setting him up the right way, we stuck it out for over 2 weeks and he was pretty good about calming down when we gently said "No Leroy. After 2 weeks and at the time we felt he was feeling settled, we brought his bed into our room and he sleeps on that as our dog sleeps on his bed in our room too. Leroy goes right to bed when we go up and sleeps perfectly fine through the night. For the most part someone is usually home so the dogs aren't left home alone that long except for us going to dinner or errands. I don't think he would do well if he was left in a crate for 8-10 hours everyday. He loves his people too much!
He is great on car rides. But he's more of an observer of what's out the window vs sticking his head out and into the wind like our little dog does.
He is house trained but does have occasional accidents still. We are continuing to work on this with him and giving him outside breaks more often.
All in all, Leroy is an amazing, loving, sweet Frenchie that will make any home a happier place! We couldn't possibly love this dude more!!
