This little boy was born 3/27/20. At 4 years old, Kingsley has plenty of life left, and he's ready to enjoy it.
A former mill dog, Kingsley came to our home on 7.29.24 after Badass Bulldog Rescue got him the medical care he needed (a neuter procedure as well as a breathing surgery (nares and palate)). He also had his ears "packed, meaning his ears were in rough shape so they were filled them with meds. And lastly, he had a full dental, which included pulling a couple teeth.
Kingsley has craved and appreciated attention from day 1. He loves neck scratches, hugs, and kisses. How do I know he appreciates attention? When you give him cuddles and scratches, he looks at you with the most adoring eyes. He'll steal your heart, but hey, that's ok, right?
He gets along with our two dogs, our 9-year-old daughter, and even our cat (who can be.... let's say - "moody). Ok some days he barks at the cat, but only because he wants to play. Our cat.... does not, lol!
Kingsley sometimes wears a belly band in the house, which is like a little diaper that wraps around his middle. When he first came, he wanted to mark in the house. After his neuter and a little time, he's much better. These days I even leave the belly band off most of the time, but if I took him to visit another home, I might have it handy, just in case. Basically, he's to the point where he's pretty good about pottying outside, and he's never done his business in his cage.
Speaking of cages. That's a slippery slope for Kingsley. I mean, you can put him in there, but he's not going to like it. He complains (barks). I have to put a blanket on top of it so all sight of anything else is blocked out, and he eventually stops barking. When we first got him, that's where he slept. However, now, I tend to leave him with one of my dogs in a small fenced in area (cage available in there to go in if he wants). There's less complaining from Kingsley with this arrangement, and he's never peed or pooped in the confined area.
Kingsley loves having dog toys, but he doesn't always know what's what. So far, he's tried to chew head phones and shoes, so that's a work in progress.
Kingsley is super cute. One ear pretty much stays horizontal, while his other ear sticks up. He has no chin, but sports a magnificent set of perpetual puppy-dog-eyes. All this gives him an endearing dopey look, and you really just want to squeeze the hell out of him. Simply put, he's freakin' adorable. Good thing he likes hugs!
Kingsley has some bumps on his skin, but hey, isn't it our little imperfections that make us unique and special? (Just ask Cindy Crawford!). Anyway, at first, I thought he had a few hives, but it's just how he's built. He has a little bump by his ear, and some on his side. It doesn't appear to be anything to worry about, and doesn't seem to bother him at all.
So far, he's not much of a walker. He's ok on a leash, but loses interest and tends to poop out pretty quick. What he is, is a door and fence-runner. He's sneaky about it. You think he's all "slow-moving and not paying attention, but he's very interested in following people out of fences and doors, so beware! I'm not really sure if he'd actually try to run anywhere if he got out, but it's something to watch.
Kingsley is currently eating Wellness Brand (grain-free Ocean flavor), but you could probably change that if you like. As far as any special care, I put drops in his dry eyes twice a day, which is something that should continue once he's adopted. This is not an issue. He's really good about it. One other thing that's a bit odd - Right now he has a tendency to spit up once a day. We're not sure why. I'm currently giving him some mucinex to see if that helps.
Kingsley's ready for his life of leisure, so if you're ready to love this little gentleman, fill out an application. He's located in Columbus, Ohio. You'll have to come here to visit him for a meet-n-greet to make sure it's a good fit. This includes the person who filled out the application, all other members of the household, and all dogs living in the home as well.
