Story
Sex: FemaleBreed: German ShepherdEstimated Date of Birth : 04/24/2024What happens when shy shutdown dogs are given a chance? We can promise you’re going to see a whole new dog! This was Reina’s story. From terrified and alone she’s now the life of the party. This sweet young girl just needed the right environment and time to decompress. Shepherds are often very sensitive dogs and in a shelter setting they can be completely overwhelmed. Overwhelmed means you see negative behaviors and not the dogs true personality. Reina just needed her chance and now that she’s got it what an amazing and spunky girl she is! Almost 2 months, that’s how long Reina sat terrified in her shelter kennel. The noses, smells and activity never letting up. She could feel the desperation of the other dogs and as she felt that growing tension her own desperation grew. Shy dogs don’t do well in a shelter setting and with her breed she stood little chance of making it out alive. With no owners and no adoption interest she’s was euthanasia listed. She’d hit the limit of a sad life devoid of anything good. She desperately needed that good and with the last minute yes from an amazing foster family she finally got the good she’d been waiting for. Change for Reina didn’t happen immediately. She still didn’t trust even in the new environment. She needed time to decompress and she needed time to feel safe. Once she did we saw a brand new dog! Reina loves other dogs. They really help her come out of her shell. She has a rough and rowdy play style that is loads of fun. Shes gaining more and more confidence daily and we know in the right home she’s going to be a ridiculously amazing adult dog. Reina’s future home should be committed to continued confidence building and include at least one other fun loving dog she can pal around with. She’s crate trained and her leash walking skills improve daily. With this 2nd chance Reina’s future is now incredibly bright. Want to be part of that future? Apply today! Story
Sex: FemaleBreed: German Shepherd x Estimated Date of Birth : 01/01/2016Shepherds are such sensitive souls and Audra wears her sensitiveness for the world to see. So very sweet and incredibly affectionate she’s a little shy and unsure. Her whole world changed in an instant and she’s figuring out her new normal and adjusting to the sights, sounds and activity levels of the ranch. Although some of those changes cause her to be a bit unsure she’s truly done very well all things considered. She’s acclimating and is a wonderful loyal girl ready to find her perfect home. Audra has been a beloved family member for her whole life. She had a kind human and 3 canine companions of various sizes. This sweet girls human suddenly passed away and she and the other large dog Marley protected his body while they waited for help. Thankfully their human’s family discovered he passed and cared for the dogs while they looked for rescue placement. We are so thankful we had the space to bring all 4 dogs into the rescue. Audra is adjusting to her new normal but what she’d love the most is a family to bond with. She had that and that family environment makes her feel most secure. She’s spry for her age, still plays with toys for short spurts and walks well on leash. Shes a good girl looking for a calm home environment to enjoy her senior years in. If you have what Audra needs she’d love nothing more than to go home with you. We hope you’ll give this sweet senior girl her chance. Story
Sex: MaleBreed: German Shepherd x Estimated Date of Birth : 07/19/2024Looking for an adventure buddy? Need that buddy to be dog friendly and fun? Like a Velcro dog devoted to you and anything you want to do? Then you’ve got to meet Rocky! This big boy still has a little bit of growing to do but he’s ready to bring his enthusiastic puppy vibrance to you! Full of energy, curiosity, and playfulness. He lives for canine companionship and hasn’t met a dog he doesn’t love. In fact, he’d thrive best in a home with another playful dog and a large yard to zoom around in. While Rocky is all tail wags with other dogs, he’s more cautious around humans, especially men. But with just a little time and patience that trust builds and he becomes your shadow fully devoted to those who’ve given him time to trust. We don’t know much about Rocky’s past but what we do know is likely the reason he’s so insecure around strangers. Rocky wasn’t a loved member of a family he was a dog discarded alone in the rural orchards and left for dead. Still a puppy at that time we can’t imagine how scary and hopeless he must have felt. And if he was discarded like trash how was he treated when he did have a home? We can only speculate and work towards giving this sweet, goofy boy every positive experience he missed in his puppy years. Rocky is thriving in foster care. He’s quickly bonded to the canine buddies in the home and fully trusts his foster family happily following them from room to room. He is high energy pup and would do best in an active household with at least one other confident, fun, playful dog. Rocky is both house trained and crate trained, and he loves being indoors where he feels safe and part of the family. While he’s still timid with a lead/leash, he’s getting more comfortable and is making steady progress, especially using a harness. He’s incredibly smart and wants to connect and please so badly. If you’re ready to give Rocky the time, patience, and love he deserves, he’ll reward you with unending loyalty. He’s not just looking for a home he’s looking for a family. Could you give him the home and family he’s never had? If you are interested in adopting a Marley's Mutts please fill out an application at http://marleysmutts.org/adoptionprocess/
