Story
Koda is a 6 year old that I’ve had for the last 5 years. He is good with all kids and humans, but does his breeds job as a great warning system for strangers and keeping other animals out of the yard. He has never bit anyone before. He will bark at unknown humans, but settles down after the ‘sniff’ test. Dogs vary; he’s a dominant type but lived with a female lab with no issues. He has been diagnosed with pancreatic enzyme insufficiency (common in German Shephards), where I mix in a prescription powdered medicine into his food twice daily. Otherwise, he’s healthy with no other concerns. The last year has been hard financially on my family with a divorce, a new baby, and a move to a small yard. He has shown depression with the change as he is having to be tied to a lead outside or stuck inside, which isn’t fair to him. He needs more care than I am able to provide. He’s a good boy who needs a loving family to snuggle and protect. This is very hard, but I need to do what is best for him.

Story
Jackson is a sweet 9-year-old rescue dog who has been very loved and cared for. Due to an upcoming move and life changes, we are sadly looking for the right home for him. He is house-trained, gentle, and lower-energy. Jackson enjoys walking around the yard, relaxing nearby, laying at your feet, and being close to his people. He loves soft toys, blankets, being brushed, and getting gentle attention, but he is also independent and content to settle on his own. Jackson is used to being around other dogs and does well with them. He has also been around cats in a limited way and was curious but did not chase, bark, or act aggressively. Like many dogs, he may bark when he sees someone outside, but overall he is a sweet, calm companion. He would be a wonderful fit for someone looking for a loyal, loving dog who wants comfort, kindness, and a soft place to land.

Story
Skipper is a one-year-old bundle of joy who’s ready to bring energy, affection, and a whole lot of heart into your life. This young guy wakes up each day excited for whatever comes next—whether it’s playtime with dog friends or soaking up attention from his favorite humans. Skipper loves to romp and wrestle, but what really makes him special is how he’ll happily pause the fun just to come lean into you for pets. He has a charming habit of sitting right on your feet, pressing against your legs, and gazing up with the softest, most adoring eyes—it’s hard not to fall for him instantly. He’s also growing into his confidence in the most wonderful way. Skipper recently took part in a parade, and while the noise and crowds were a bit overwhelming at first, he rose to the occasion beautifully. Step by step, you could see him relax and gain confidence, and by the end he was proudly strutting along like he owned the route. Even with all the excitement, he stayed tuned in to his handler, happily sitting for treats and showing off his eagerness to learn. Smart, treat-motivated, and full of potential, Skipper is ready to thrive with a family who will guide him with patience and positivity. He’s a lovely young dog just waiting to shine. GREAT NEWS—This pup will go home with a free training scholarship! These fun, positive reinforcement classes are available in-person or online and are super easy to fit into your schedule. It’s a terrific way to build a bond, learn together, and make a smooth transition into your home. if you are interested in learning more about Skipper, please call 812-988-7362 or submit an adoption application at the link below. After the application is received, an adoption counselor can reach out to you directly. https://www.bchumane.org/adoption-application/ *All dogs will be neutered, vaccinated with age-appropriate vaccines, heartworm tested, current on parasite prevention and microchipped.

Story
Brock is the kind of boy who bonds deeply with his people. He has a gentle heart, soulful eyes, and a quiet way of making you feel like you’re his whole world. Once he knows you’re his, he’ll happily stick by your side — whether that’s relaxing at home, going for a walk, or just keeping you company while you move through your day. He’s naturally attentive and aware of his surroundings, the type of dog who likes to make sure his people are okay. Not pushy or over-the-top — just a loyal companion who feels happiest when his family is safe and close by. And then there’s fetch. Fetch isn’t just a game for Brock—it’s his passion. Balls, frisbees, anything that flies—he’s all in. He’s a natural retriever who eagerly brings his toy back and drops it at your feet, ready for the next throw. This toy-driven enthusiasm makes him an excellent match for an active person or family who enjoys outdoor time, structure, and shared activities. Brock is best suited for a home that’s excited to continue his training, keep him mentally and physically engaged, and enjoy life with a dog who is truly present, enthusiastic, and devoted. His energy is pure sunshine. If you’re looking for a one-and-only companion who will keep you moving, laughing, and connected, Brock may be the perfect fit. Give him a chance and you’ll gain a devoted best friend who will love you with his whole heart. Brock is the loyal best friend everyone wishes they had- steady, joyful, and always ready for the next adventure! GREAT NEWS—Brock will go home with a free training scholarship!
